This definitely helped me a lot! I do have two questions though. Sometimes when installing WDS only the transport server option is showing up for the install.

I've not come across this issue before. It's always shown both the Deployment Server and Transport Server options.

Hi, Are you trying to install this on a Core server version? I had this issue as well but for the GUI version it is available.
Danny, please how long does it take to learn anything about Servers? I'm trying to read this up and just getting more and more confused.
It really depends on what you are trying to learn about servers. I've been using Windows Server for nearly 10 years, and there are still parts of it that I don't know.
You just need to start using it and configuring the features, and you will start to understand how they work and how they integrate with other features to provide more in-depth solutions.
I don't think there are really any shortcuts to learning how it all works. You just need to start using it, ideally in a business environment, to learn real use cases.
Your videos are great. One minor criticism is that you're very hard to hear. Even with my volume maxed out, I have to strain to hear you without headphones on.

Hi, great video - thank you! Is there a way to PXE boot an iso (e.g. Hiren'S PE) from a host win2022 WDS/MDT server as a bootable option from the OS chooser screen? Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure as I've never actually tried, however, I can't see why it wouldn't be possible to do.
You might have to do some searching online to figure out how to actually do it.

After 4:35 secs you're opening black windows from where? Which client? I was able to convert .esd to .wim but this black window coming from where ? Where you're loading windows.
That's a Hyper-V terminal. All it's doing is networking booting a machine to load the image that was imported into the WDS server.

At 4:56, you say that "it picked up the server information." Where did you go to enter in that server information so that your network knows what to do when trying to pxe boot?
If your WDS server is connected to an Active Directory domain that is also running DHCP, then the PXE info will automatically get picked up.
If this isn't the case, you will likely need to setup IP helpers or DHCP options to point PXE clients to the correct place.

If you browse to the install.wim location, is there an install.wim file or an install.esd file? You might have to extract the wim from the esd: ruclips.net/video/ZBSQYIttwP0/видео.html

I don't have a guide, but, you either need to add DHCP options into your DHCP settings, or setup IP helpers on your firewall.

I'm not sure what you mean. All of the Windows 10 iso files will have either an install.wim or install.esd file that you can use.

when we extract windows 10 image then boot.wim and intall.wim images are showing but when we add both images in wds server there is only boot.wim image is visiable. so if you have idea about that things please reply on same.
Do you know if is there similar way to create and restore custom windows images? Example: I create a custom Windows image to install it in 20 PCs with the same configuration. Any suggestions?
You can deploy images using MDT and you can also customise them to install drivers, software, plus many other things. ruclips.net/video/wIp2YTNVjHk/видео.html

Is this how you would set up a prebuilt ISO or Image of like a customized Windows and then somehow put it somewhere on a network and then from any computer on the network/domain you could technically select PXE boot and NIC IPv4 and boot to/from this Image? Like a Network PXE boot?
Yes, but, you would also use Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to do customisation.
Have a look at the below two videos. They first one will show you how to deploy an image over the network using WDS and MDT, and the second one will show you how to capture a customised image which can include any software you want pre-installed, and then deploy it.

@@danny_moran, what if one is using an oracle VirtualBox, how would I proceed after completing the boot and install.wim file on the server side, please?
You should just be able to turn on a new virtual machine that is connected to the same VirtualBox virtual switch. Once you network boot, it should automatically pick up the WDS server.
Im having issues with my network boot detecting my wds server. Any suggestions? I'm using Windows for DHCP, and they're on the same subnet
The machine you are trying to network boot from, is it a physical machine or a virtual machine on the same server your WDS server is on?

Hello Danny. I really like this cause I've trying to learn this. I added the boot.wim file to create the first image. However, I don't have an install.wim file in the source folder. What I can see is install.esd. Would this work as a substitute for the install.wim cause I can see they are of the same size. I tried to proceed with the install.esd file but when I click on browse to add the file, I don't see all the information in the sources folder anymore. I can only see a few folders and the boot.wim file which I've already used for the boot image. Looking forward to any assistance on this. Thanks

@danny_moran , thanks but I keep getting an error (The system cannot find the path specified 😢)when trying to access the install.esd that I moved to the Windows temp folder.
Danny I figured it out. The image is exporting and converting to a .wim file now. Thanks. I jus hope I will find it when I'm ready to add the image on the WDS.
