The boring answer is that MSV, where this guy first appeared, was published in 1984, while MSV-R, where the MS-05Q is from, started publishing on 2009, with the volume in question being #31, so we are likely talking of it being introduced on 2011-2012. The in-universe answer is less clear, but rather than asking why the Zogok doesn’t have spike knuckles, I think the real question is: why no other MS used spiked knuckles? Ranged combat units like the Zaku Cannon or even the Zaku I Sniper could have used them as a last ditch weapon that didn’t add much extra weight… but they didn’t. Perhaps the spiked knuckles had drawbacks for operating other handheld weapons, which would explain why not even a Zaku I Sniper, which would be the most compatible unit to get the same upgrade, didn’t: being able to properly operate its beam sniper rifle was top priority. In the case of the Zogok, given that its fellow Jaburo attack MS would normally lack manipulators, perhaps functionality of its manipulators was considered more important over potential additional melee capabilities.
Funny you mention the Zogok’s big hands: the original Dom/Rick Dom actually had the same problem: it couldn’t operate the same weapons of the Zaku II without modifications. Case in point, the MG 1/100 of Char’s Rick Dom includes a larger grip for its 120mm Zaku machine gun, so it can actually use it. Dalong has some photos of this Gunpla. In other words, the real reason most Doms/Rick Doms are stuck with Giant Bazookas and MMP-80 machine guns (which have open grips that don’t get in the way) is because they can’t operate other weapons. That being said, supposedly later units became what some consider “UMP complaint” and had smaller manipulators, like those seen in 08th MS Team (whose armor also looks more similar to a Rick Dom II). On a different note, the Marasai beam rifle you mentioned is actually originally a Hizack beam rifle, and this is relevant because the Hizack is infamous for its low generator output that limits it to only use one beam weapon at a time, which probably made it ideal for a unit like the Zogok… which actually has a higher generator output than a Hizack! Finally, my only complaint about the Zogok from Unicorn is that we don’t see a scabbard for its heat sword… which is really important given that it swam to the shore and got wet. For comparison, the Zee Zulu do carries its heat knives on scabbards to keep them dry until getting out of the water. Off the top of my head, the MS-08TX/N also uses scabbards (though his are “cold” weapons), but it gives us a OYW precedent for the use of scabbards.
i didnt know that about the dom, i even have a old mg of the dom and remember somthing feeling off with its hands. Also funny how ppl associate that beam rifle with another ms who uses it more effectively, the hi zak is so funny.
Watch Unicorn again the Zee Zulu is seen using the heat daggers (not activated) under water. They are made of the same material s the Iron Nails and can be used heated or cold. The sheath does nothing more than store said daggers when not in use. As for the Zogok it doesn't need a sheath either sheath either because being damp doesn't affect its efficiency once out of the water. The Dom in the 08th MS Team is the Dom Funf which was part of the United Maintenance Plan. That's why it has small manipulators and can use the 120mm Zaku machine gun. The new MG Dom 1.5 can also use the 1.0 Zaku ll m120mm machine gun as well because the new manipulators are much smaller than the ones on the 1.0 MG Dom.
The Zogok is such an interesting unit and one of the few MS from the UC with function extending arms. For costs and practicality, I can understand them limited to roughly double its standard arms reach. Although seeing it extend outward enough to reach the Altron Gundam from Wing, is just different levels of stupid reach there. Besides the obvious costs, if the arm is hit while extended will just be ungodly expensive to repair and just best to replace. On the plus side, it was nice to know the Zogok in Unicorn actually survived, even though quite damaged. As far as I can tell, the Efreet, Gouf Heavyarms and Zogok all survived that attack, not sure of any other units.
My favorite of the zgok line, LETS GOOOOO Bro the only thing that we are missing in the hg is open hands (slap style imagine) I have the juaggu and i hope someday i can get the zogok or hygogg for a neo-amphibious OYW team
My favorite (somewhat) amphibious mobile suit apart from the Gogg. Absolutely loved this design, and having the HG is still one of my most wanted hunts for kits.
Here idea for the Zogok-E it can change its hands may be normal manipulator, Big one, iron nails, or something else no one thought of like a machine gun. But mean thing is they all can stretch like Zogok arms so it doesn't have to sacrifice mean advantage it has but still somewhat adaptable.
how about give the Zogok-E retractable knuckle dusters? that way it can have normal hands (to hold guns) and stil punch! :) love your Analysis videos BTW! :D 👍❤🤍🖤
Honestly Sloth, your love of Amphibious suits does slightly worry me. Promise me you're not going to become a tinpot dictator with a creepy harem.
thanks for the concerns, no promises
I am surprised that it didn't have nuckle spikes like the zaku 1 q type

@ZeonicFenrir all good points to meam th knuckle spikes would added more impact to the extendable arm during unarmed combat but that is just me
@@ZeonicFenrir I think it would be a better idea if the Zogok carried a pair of Knuckle Shields for added defense and attack.

FINALLY WHAT IVE BIN WAITING FOR THANK YOU SLOTHCAKES
Yaaaas amphibious analysis is back!!!
Really glad that you made a video for the zogok, it's really an underappreciated amphibious MS

I first saw this in the game that you was using the video and I always loved it I just wish they had an update
Sturmfaust is singular. Sturmfäuste is the plural
My favorite (somewhat) amphibious mobile suit apart from the Gogg.

LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BRO!!!! KEEEEEP AT IT!!!!!!
Thank you for your great Videos

Imagine someone kitbashed the Zogok with the Gundam Maxter.

love your Analysis videos BTW! :D 👍❤🤍🖤
even on the big hands some spikes on the knuckles while a small change would give your punches more lethal
@@slothcakesYES! and it vould look cool! :D
PS Thanks for the heart!❤😊
have a nice weekend!
