Those wet mines really are a lot more dangerous than most of the dry desert mines. I also watch a lot of UK mine explorers. They are always wet and ancient mines, but most of the time they built stone arches for support, and didn't use wood; so they are mostly in good shape. Thanks for sharing this awesome video with us! Really great stuff!!!
What a fantastic mine, beautiful timbering throughout; the water does add another element of danger, very different than desert stuff. That small drift with the draining ore chutes in the last third of your video was incredible. Reminds me of hardrock UG we have here. Try and limit solo trips, I'm guilty too, but they're never a good idea. Do you carry a meter? If not you should, especially when you're by yourself. Certainly didn't need one here from the looks of it, but stay in this scene long enough and you'll pull that straw. Stay safe, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yea, I’m not a huge fan of solo exploring. I had 2 of my other buddies with me at the site, they just didn’t have the enthusiasm at midnight to go explore. Yep! I always carry my 4 gas meter with me, oxygen was at 20.9 ppm all the way through! I appreciate your comment 🤠
Question: Regarding those holes where the rock tests were done: ... what are those? Are they dug out ore shoots? Are there ladders looking down? Were they dug out air ducts or some type of natural hole? They were incredibly deep. I'm wondering how those contributed to the historical mining and how they were navigated when this was active? Interesting repeating feature.
Of course!! So they can be a couple things. But these holes that have ladders are what you would call a winze. Winzes are simply just a shaft that connects different levels of the mine for access to the miners. If there is no ladder they are most likely just ore passes. But one of the holes you saw in this video went straight down in the drift. This I think was a collapse of the floor
You need proper rock climbing equipment when you go in there! And have 2 ratchet hand carabiners that you can use to climb back out! And you need radios and tell each other how far what’s up every 30 feet!
You can walk through there on top of boards and there’s a hole there covered up by wood mud etc and you walk on it in 1 foot of water and all of a sudden you penetrate the floor and the water pools in and you go with it? That’s my fear of a mine!
This seems endless in terms of passages. How do you track your explorations to assure that you recall the routes out? All my brain kept doing is thinking: "Remember the way out, remember the way out." Eventually, there's got to be too many tucks and turns.
Don’t ever go beyond those chutes with the Timbers like that! You will be trapped for sure if there was a earthquake! And you would have limited time to get out!
Normally it’s not super hard to remember certain characteristics in the mine. It’s not as much of a maze as some might think. A little trick we use is “the right hand rule” you just keep taking the right hand tunnel, eventually you will find yourself out of the mine
Nice drone shots!
Thank you! I’m glad I brought it. Lol
New to your channel and I love old mine videos and this is a great video
Hey welcome! Thank you I appreciate that!!

The Timbers for the most part felt really solid which is baffling! They must have used a certain wood that is resistant in humid climates
@@Kennerunderground I explore quite a bit in the San Juans in Colorado, my theory is the acid mine drainage seems to hold off rot to some extent.
Good job Owen! Loved the water drop intro
Aha thank you thank you my good sir
Watching from Jackson, CA

This is epic!
Haha thank you!!
New subscriber. Came over from Facebook. Enjoyed the video!
Please get some water proof boots! I could feel the cold with you!
I wasn’t sure what to expect. Water proof boots probably could’ve saved me some time lol. Thanks for tagging along!!
@@Kennerunderground enjoyed it!
Wow cool mine with water coming down the chute! I would pan for gold tight on the floor!

Watching from your walls
👀
You should check out the walls with a metal detector! Handheld and full size one!
Never go in a mine without someone or you’re taking a chance of dying!

it seems very drippy
Good looking mine there all the signs of a gold mine?

Vyeddy vyeddy noice! 👍👍 But WAY too wet for me!! Next time bring your waterproof boots, dude! ❤️
Oh yea, I’m definitely going to have some weighters next time I’m back here. I had no clue the mine was going to be this wet when I got there!
@@Kennerunderground That’s “waders”, as in you can go ‘wading’ in them!! Silly Kennerunderground!
@@fredfarquar8301 🤣🤣 thank you for the correction
How do you not get turned around so you can find your way out?

The mines work hard for gold
Did that fine gold
I want to know what is the blue rock? Copper? Because if it is there’s a lot! Shit that goes 1000 feet!
Was that someone’s hand? If so I would call the police? Who knows how long the guy’s been down there?
Man than work hard for gold way it was
Hopefully magic mushrooms?
You know how many ghost are in them Mines if you enhance the sound I bet you will hear voices not water
I can’t believe they just make a hole in the floor? In the middle of the road? Why not go around the hole and spray paint HOLE! On the wall! CAUTION?
