You just never know what you are going to get from Bekele. He has clearly lined up on numerous occasions with injuries just to receive the appearance fee in marathons over the years. I hope he pulls off one of the most film worthy stories of all time and takes down Kipchoge along with the world record in London. I hope to god he does it! and I'm a Kipchoge fan who was ringing my cowbell on the Prater in Austria for the ineos 1:59 challenge. Unless there are strong winds on the day there will be a world record. For Kipchoge it was so so easy in Austria and with little races/bonuses on offer this year or possibly next and the alphafly they are going after it! it's a perfect storm! excited as hell xx
If Kenenisa wins, (which I'm hoping for) Kipchoge will still be the marathon goat. Even if Kenenisa gives us the best marathon performance in history (new wr), Kipchoge's streak of dominance is historic.
I give my most respect to both runners. Yes, Bekele is the greatest long distance runner ever but when it comes to marathons. Eliud is god like. His will power both physically and mentally is out of this world. He has been consistant with his marathons. Broke a world record and did a sub 2 (even though the event wasnt recorded) I love bekele but eliud is where my money is
Bekele will beat Kipchoge. Give Bekele a challenge and then you will get a stunning response! Bekele has been training like crazy during the lockdown. The rest is for all of us to see💙💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I think that Kenenisa will win the race! After what he has done on Berlin marathon, 2:01:41 and closing so fast, make me think he can catch Eliud and beat him on finishings laps! Anyway I wish the best for both of them!
I definitely want kipchoge to win, but because of how close Bekele got to the world record last year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he puts on a great showing
Oh my goodness this is great stuff, you have mastered the art of making running videos. Total running productions is getting better each day like Eliud Kipchoge😂👌
The legendary Great North Run of 2013 was truly a sight to behold. Bekele, Farah AND Gebrselassie. I wonder what the results would've been if Kipchoge been on the starting line.
If i am going to be honest with you ,in my own humble opinion without being sentimental of course, without offending anyone who thinks differently from my own point of view, but also by looking into this matter in distinctive perspective ,i would like to say the one who runs the fastest wins😉😉
I just hope Bekele is in good conditions, his transition to road racing hasn't been easy, but as he dominated in both, track and cross for over a decade, all my hopes are with him. I only regret he runs with Nike, in my opinion, with ASICS he would do better.
Someone tell Bekele that Kenyans were very eager to watch the match between the two great pple, they were to make the race more interesting before Bekele got an injury and pulled out.QR Bekele, hopping to see you soon go head to head with our own Eliud V8 kipchoge. All the best kipchoge in tomorrow's race
It all points out to Kipchoge. However, does not underestimate Geremew. And even though i do not like his tactics since he tends to take the lead - aka Kipchoge, as pacer, and then, make the final move., he has a tremendous amount of speed endurance. Great video from TRP, as usual.
I’m hoping for an epic race without any injuries or accidents while taking their water bottles and such. Kipchoge has dominated his mindset and once he gets in the zone he’s unstoppable. But a trained and healthy bekele is always a danger. However let’s not discard mosinet geremew he has been training really hard and he has a a marathon of 2:02:55. Oh man I can’t wait.
Alright TRP nice title! I have to give u that one....now for the race: The deck is stacked up again Kipchoge, this really isn’t a Marathon.....it’s 26.2 miles around the park (just like the INEOS159 CHALLENGE)....and where KB has an advantage is there’s no crowd to cheer Kipchoge on (which he feeds off of that) and it’s a track style race. I’m surprised the athletes agreed to this? For everyone thinking there will be a New World Record, I highly doubt it. The course has way to many turns and one of them is very sharp (slowing the athletes down).....the course is shown on the Seth DeMour channel. If KB can keep up with Kipchoge to the end, his closing speed might be a problem for Kipchoge. However if Kipchoge can race tactically....meaning throw down a challenge between miles 13-16 and then again at Mile 23.....I think he’ll drop his competition. This is the race of the decade!
Gage Krall sharing Seths opinion, but anyone who’s watched these 2 athletes already knows there strengths & weaknesses. KB has the closing speed and Kipchoge likes to throw down 2 difficult 5ks in the race (it’s exactly what he did in London last year). It’s pretty obvious how Seth came to that conclusion. One other thing worth mentioning is the other athletes! Tola kept up with Kipchoge in Berlin (and that was his debut marathon if am not mistaken?) I’m curious to see if his endurance has improved. Also Geremew was right there with Kipchoge in London last year. Sir Mo Farah won Chicago with a 2:05 performance, I’m wondering if he’s gotten any stronger to keep up with the Kenyans & Ethiopians. Will Sir Mo Farah be racing?? I haven’t heard anything about him participating but this is his country (well at least the one he represents). My opinion....I don’t expect a world record....and to Me this isn’t a road race (which is what the Marathon is)....this feels like Monza all over again....just doing laps around a track, with no crowd support whatsoever. I ran Las Vegas last year and those first 6 miles on the strip went by in a blink of an eye cuz of the crowd cheering you on....then you turn to downtown Las Vegas and it sucked lol! There was no one out 😅
FC Barcelona1999 go look at Seth DeMoor channel and you’ll see the layout of the course, on the bottom right hand of the screen you’ll see a real sharp turn....that throws off your speed/cadence/momentum etc etc....similar to running uphill. Why do you think for INEOS159 the turns at the end were smooth and wide enough to not slow Eliud down?
Let’s change that scenario and make it your goal to run a 5 min/mile in a year! You can do it! You have to know you can! Wake up and dominate daily! Used commercial treadmills are inexpensive! As a healthcare professional, you rarely see a fit runner in the ER for heart diseases or diabetes t2! But.... you regularly see the opposite getting amputations and on 25 meds!
I think up until I saw this video Bekele was very much a good shout especially if he is within 10 seconds of Kipchoge with 5K to go. But noticing that Bekele was looking at his watch trying to beat Kipchoge's world record in Berlin , I think his effort was maximal while Kipchoge's still makes me think he had a little extra in the tank if he gets pushed. Then again this could all make everyone look silly if another runner wins, NEWSFLASH: There are other world class runners in the race, let's show them some respect.

While everyone is rooting for Kipchoge or Bekele, why do I foresee out of nowhere Mosinet Geremew (2nd place London 2019 finishe) would take 1st and surprise everyone?
I'm fairly confident I'll be able to predict the outcome by how heavy Bekele looks on the start line, haha! If he looks as skinny as he has been for the last year then I think he will edge it. Kipchoge has never had anyone challenge him in the last mile except for his first marathon. Sooooo excited!
Costs money, but on the plus side it's actually available in Australia legitimately. I'm in Australia too, and this is how I'll be watching it. www.flotrack.org/signup?redirect=%2Flive%2F18327-2020-london-marathon
does drafting really make a difference over the marathon distance? I just wonder if bekele just drafts behind kipchoge the entire time, will he get a benefit
I think that if kipchoge is going to win, he will push the pace just fast enough in the beginning to make bekele fall back and wait to attack at the end. If kipchoge can hold that pace, he might catch bekele off guard and bekele won’t be able to close fast enough. In that case, kipchoge will win. If kipchoge goes out too fast bekele will wait till the last couple of miles use his track strength to catch kipchoge. In that case, bekele will win
Good insight there. If Bekele can keep up with the surges that Kipchoge tends to inject progressively he may win but if he lags too far behind conserving that finishing energy he will get there when Kipchoge is already celebrating. History has also shown that he tends to drop out in London cause the course isn't easy and Berlin is an easier course no wonder records get broken there. It's easy to say their official personal bests is 2 seconds difference but my head will go for Kipchoge. I want Bekele to win but I think Kipchoge won't let that happen.
Kipchoge's best time is 2:01:39 WR, Bekele's best time is 2:01:41. What do you think they will clock in London? (My prediction is Kipchoge: 2:00:48 | Bekele 2:01:05)
Any1 know the music trp playing during the end starts when hes talking abt bekele and 2019 berlin marathon around 8:53 ish or so. Would be really appreciated!
People here seem to have forgotten that Kenenesa beat all the Kenyan armada for over 10 years. I am betting on him for his great come back in style and in London with a world record I hope.
This is going to be such an intriguing contest. Kipchoge, or Bekele, or will we see a dark horse runner best them both?? My money's on Kipchoge for sheer consistency, but hope Bekele can give him a bout. If Bekele can keep up with Kipchoge into the final few kilometres, than Bekele would have the talent be able to take it away from Kipchoge - but it's if he can keep up to do that is the big question. Don't count on Bekele being able to pull the chase on Kipchoge, the way he did on the two guys in Berlin in 2019. Prime Kipchoge would find another gear.
I'd like to point out that during Bekele's bad races in 2015 and 2016 Kipchoge had prototype Vaporfly's on his feet while Bekele had traditional flats. I think Kipchoge was still more fit and overall better at the distance, but let's not pretend that Bekele wasn't at a huge disadvantage by not being a part of the then-secret Breaking2 Project. In Berlin Bekele was wearing prototype Vaporfly's finally and ran a pretty incredible race on par with Kipchoge was doing in the same shoes at the time.
Smart money's on Kipchoge... his record speaks for itself...
He's very confident (rightly so) and always perfectly prepared.
Bekele has the raw talent- but also carrying some mental scars from recent years. If he has a "bad patch" that'll probably end the race.
If he doesn't have a bad patch- has prepared well, and is not carrying any niggles, we could be in for one hell of a race- and that's what I hope happens....
When he’s bad it gets to him. True.
But when he is on. He is Superman.
He feeds on others pain.

Kipchoge has also been training obsessively! Anyway, Bekele is not really cut out for marathon races. He's prone to injuries.

He is the King 👑
FIRST!
Team Bekele
They are just extremely very nice runners
It’s kinda wack that they have to do like 17 laps. Hopefully the turns are wide as not to slow them down.
No body should be Sure about this but most probably Kenenisa will show us new & untouchable marathon record
thumbs up for saying corectly Kipchoge, not Kipchogeee
Wrong it's keepjogging
I'd like to point out that during Bekele's bad races in 2015 and 2016 Kipchoge had prototype Vaporfly's on his feet while Bekele had traditional flats. I think Kipchoge was still more fit and overall better at the distance, but let's not pretend that Bekele wasn't at a huge disadvantage by not being a part of the then-secret Breaking2 Project. In Berlin Bekele was wearing prototype Vaporfly's finally and ran a pretty incredible race on par with Kipchoge was doing in the same shoes at the time.
Kipochoge has only great marathon race, but other distance not compare to Bekekle
but this is about the marathon though, so...
@@Regimeshifts Marathon only 2 seconds , Bekele can beats Kipchoge .
This is one unpredictable race, both athletees are great, but of cause I'm behind kipchoge
