While it is impressive, it is a small sample. Kelvin Kiptum is incredible, a testimony to hard work, training technique, physical form and it shows, no doubt. He has yet to go 'marathon' in The Marathon, but he IS certainly very VERY fast.
I am looking forward to Paris! The course is not designed for speed, but only has about 28 turns, compared to the 44 or so here in Chicago.

I think the pro running community in general is trying to let this sink in. Other than Eliud Kipchoge and maybe Jacob Kiplemo (if he enters the marathon)this man has no competition. That’s crazy! The lack of congratulations from the pro running community is showing right now. They’re probably in full panic mode trying to figure out how to respond. The pro running community isn’t ready for this level of competition.

You can see he was all in on this even his form changed in the 2nd half. Hopefully he can recover well between races because there is one thing about Kipchoge he has amazing form. This is good as it shows how prepared Kipchoge is for a race. Kiptum on the other hand has excellent form at the beginning but towards the end is quite compromised. Could this lead to an injury? It is exciting nonetheless and I’m excited for what is to come from Kiptum.

He's not the New King of the Marathon because Eluid Kipchoge is still active and pushing to break the 2 minute barrier. Kelvin Kiptum trains with Kipchoge. In order for a Marathoner to be the new King of the distance, they would have to surpass Eluids 15 Marathon wins. Any runner can have a one off world record breaking run. But to be the King of the 26 mile Marathon distance would require longevity. His resume would have to contain the most Marathon Wins and the World Record. He's the Current World Record Holder.
