He looks so relaxed. Its hard to imagine how fast he is really running cause it looks so effortless.
Reduction of effort every stride saves energy and forward propulsion is allowed to become more effortless in side effect. Way before there was... Zoom; there was ZOOM!
He’s poetry in motion 👍
HE DID IT! This was the most incredible performance I have ever witnessed! The mile/1500 world records are definitely on the table now as well as the 5,000m world record!
5000m maybe but not 1500m and mile
@@LEGl1999 we shall see and the great thing about youtube, I can come back here in the next two years when he destroys those records, LMAO!

@@user-di4md8cc8g , I think you are under estimating how hard the 2k and 2mi records were 🤦♂️ Barring injury he will break the 1500m and mile records 👍
El Guerrouj's running form was a beauty to behold.
Ok
@@abunii😂
Plenty of people with better or equivalent form.
Hicham and Komen all seem to be jogging gracefully while actually running a crazy pace. Legendary.
I love it when TRP passes the question on to me. What an honor!
I feel so special because he's asking me. Lol
hahaaa
🤣
Breaking Daniel Komen’s 3000m record would be an even greater achievement and I would love to see him attempt it when he is in good shape.
He will
If anywhere ever has a 3k race with lots of top talent
Seems like he’s starting with the more obscure distances and working towards the more major ones.
@@ianbusche1471 yeah he’s going for the easier ones first and then he’s gonna go for the 1500 next year because the mile is what they’re running at the pre classic so he might go for the mile world record
@@ianbusche1471 after that he’ll go for the 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon and then maybe do ultras haha
I believe Faith Kipyegon is the only person who can break the Womens 800M World Record. She has the speed, strength and stamina to do so. I hope she runs an 800M this season.
What’s the difference between strength and stamina
In running
Stamina is your overall anaerobic capacity (ability to perform with lack of oxygen to your muscles)... and strength is proly referring to mental strength and the ability for the muscles to perform without injury and to their maximal capacity 😊

@@DavidPaulandBillTThey are both unscientific terms, meaning they can't be measured. Examples of scientific terms are VO2 Max, Lactate Threshold, etc.
El Guerrouj would be considered an 'over strider' by many coaching standards. I always thought it was incredibly efficient, I haven't seen anyone try to replicate it, maybe some shorter runners, but no one with a longer frame that can afford to slow their tempo to achieve it.
I would love to see him challenge the WR. But, I worry that with such a short turnaround from worlds (and his illness), he may not be in peak form. Best of luck though
I agree and it is a very tough record but, if anyone currently can do it , it's Jacob
Agreed but I don’t know what to think with that 2 mile WR he pulled out of nowhere
this didnt age well
Glad to be wrong!@@jakobeter7163
He did it! I had your same concerns! Im sure we are all happy that he got back to health as quickly as he did!
Great video man 👍🏾
Great lead-up video, TRP. Many thanks. Cheers.
Honestly if he's over his illness I say he gets it. A 7:54 2 mile is crazy. His fitness this year has been madness. Can't wait to watch
Considering his illness wasn't real, I'm sure he is over it
What illness?
@tonydiaz2541 tiredness during worlds could be call illness
7:54 2k* Not 2 mile. There's a difference. 2 miles is 3200m, 2k is well, 2000m. There is an entire 3 track laps difference which is huge. Based on his times, he could get 4:44 or even 4:43 in the 2k, which a 4:43 time would break the world record.
@@ethandalton6480of course the illness was real, he didn’t even look dissapointed in worlds after losing the 1500m.
Eritrean-born Zerei Kbrom Mezngi currently holds the Norwegian national 10k record on the road with 27:39 from Valencia 2021.
Smoothest and most relaxed running style...
What is the women's triple jump longest jump?
The female world record holder is Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela, with a jump of 15.74 m ( 51 ft 71⁄2 in).
Super athlete👍👏😃
...since the introduction of the pacing lights, many 'unbreakable' records are broken.
There's a very good documentary called (Stories of the Olympic Games: 1500 Meters). It explains why the El Guerrouj record has stood so long. Records are made to be broken. It's definitely possible but the conditions need to be ideal. Good luck to Ingebrigtsen.
So it's not drug use? Idk much about it but I would have thought with all the special shoes and new technology modern day athletes would have a better chance? How has he done it?
There's a reason around that time there was an explosion in WRs of all kinds it was at the peak of blatant doping. Before it had to go more underground and smarter.
@@jimsonjohnson3761 sounds about right
The only clean runner was Morceli‼️‼️ 😆😆
Every record from the nineties is sus. The 90's were the golden age of doping.
Wonder how much drafting behind pacemakers for 3-4 laps makes, compared to El Guerrouj running solo. Notice EG had to run around 1 runner (was he being lapped?). Then there is the advancement in new faster all-weather surfaces that may be a few % faster than 20 year's ago.
I’m here for any video about Hicham El Guerrouj.
Breaking news: he did it. 4:43.13
Not sure when, but Jakob will own all three of those world records.
He's still so young! It's gonna be fun to watch him hit his peak.
what a video buddy, he actually did it, u were right
If Hicham was in this era with the new technologies he would do stuff that the brain would not be able to believe
He'd fail a drugs test so wouldn't be running
@@CornishTigerTV lol
Just because he ran in a different decade doesn't mean he'd be running faster . The shoe doesn't make the runner the runner makes the shoe
If he wasn’t doping😂
Wonder what timing Hicham El Guerrouj would have clocked with the latest sneakers
He could have seriously threatened 3:20 for the 1500 m
And with the latest antidoping technology.
Flawlessly executed.
He has a very smooth running style
He looks like he's just jogging
I think if he's feeling strong mentally and physically he will definately break the mile record some time soon
He has plenty of time to do it as he's still so young
Fingers crossed for him
🤞🙏🏃♂️
The Mile. As much as folks nowadays refuse to give mile splits and ignore the mighty Mile, the Mile is still the gold standard. Long live the Mighty Mile!
He will break the world record if he is healthy
Your Show is wonderful !
Damn, he's superMAN although he's still a boy in age. Those norskies are on a roll these days and Ingebretsen is already a legend.
Jakob can do it. His 1500 to 5000 range is solid.
It's not just solid, it's arguably the best ever. Only Daniel Komen, Mohamed Katir and Hicham El Guerrouj are comparable to him.
@timmytheinventor4746 no doubt he's legit. The work they are doing is pretty special. I only thing I don't like about him is he is a bit of a sore loser... sniffles 🤒🤣

Hmmmmmm...is Pole Vaulting considered "jumping" or "vaulting".
Vaulting seems correct. Thoughts?
Vaulting. But no one cares, it's classified as a jump in athletics.
This vid aged very well
From my point of view the more obscure the better. He should do the 1000m next (I believe el Guerrouj held that at one point as well). Dunno if 1200m or 2400m are ever run (I suspect not), but if not he should set records for them lol.
No, El Gerrouj has never held the world record in the 1,000 metres.
No record for El Gerrouj in 1000
He has a had a psychological breakthrough. The previous loss he took will help him bounce back and gain more confidence, and quite possibly drive him to break world record(s)

When is the event???

1990’s no testing for EPO. No wonder these records exist in the first place?
Exactly
Facts
Hard yo imagine him bouncing back from the championship, “bounce back” being used loosely. He’ll have to be top top shape to break the record.
How do I get that efficient then? It’s not all just mileage surely, gym , mobility also? Because there’s some people running 90 mile weeks who don’t look efficient at all…
The day someone runs a sub 12:30 5k will be an incredible day.
60sec/lap for a 5k!!!
He’s had time to recover
New WR - 4:43.13!! So ez for Jakob.
Watch Lardos for Jr world record aswell
Silesia is not a town, it is a region in Poland
The mile is rarely contested. THAT is the primary reason the record hasn't been challenged in so long...it's NOT attempted enough.
Exactly
true
but the 1500m has.
@@raiphtheimposter people haven’t tried to go for the world record that much
@@raiphtheimposter To be fair, even though it i contested often, it's on the opposite end of the spectrum as far as why; the athletes are usually attempting to merely win an event, like the Diamond League, in an attempt at earning more money, so times aren't as relevant. The incentives are skewed.
IF he is healthy, and has resumed his topflight training regimen for say, three weeks, then yes, I think Jakob can break El Guerrouj's 2,000 meters world record. Jakob will certainly be motivated, after enduring the World Championships while being ill.
Taking into consideration his health in the Worlds I do t think he will break this freaky fast WR. Hopefully in the next few years he will get close and maybe break it if he keeps getting faster each season.
He is done it
El guerrouj looked like he was floating
Jakob could become the Djokovic of middle distance running but one thing for sure he will never be the Federer. Class has levels

Athletics. The sport is called 'Athletics'.
Imagine Nordas wins
2000 is a secondary distance. The piece of cake is 1500, and Ingebritsen has failed time and time again in championships and world record attempts.
2000 is the "easy record" of El Guerrouj.
"piece of cake" means easy, so you´re gonna have to think of something else to write if you want your comment to make sense.
@@mikaelangeloh2316 me tocas los cojones.
@@IvanCortinas_ES I'm just trying to help you write a comment that works in English. And "failed time and time again"? Jakob is only 22, and every year he gets closer and closer and closer to one of the all time great world records. Hicham was 24 when he ran the wr.
@@mikaelangeloh2316 Ingebritsen has a nada sesion done. WR: 2 miles and 2000, but he failed in 1500 and 1 mile.
The supreme distance into the middle-distance is 1500. He failed Attempt WR and silver medal in the champ.
Thats the reality
@@IvanCortinas_ES Seriously man, let's talk about reality. Here we have a 22(!) year old European who is better than all the Africans. Who this season has won all his races except one, where he placed second. Who has broken two world records. And you call that nada? Are you serious? He's never failed to do the 1500m or mile world records, because he's never tried. He himself says he's not fast enpugh yet. Again, he is TWENTY-TWO, and better than everyone. He has soooo many years to do all kinds of crazy things.

Yes….if fully recovered and decent weather.
Video is only 12 days old and the Duplantis 6.22 comment is already out of date!
He can do it 💯%
Events like the 2 mile and 2000m are not commonly run races. So setting up official record attempt raced doesn't really give you a proper comparison to previous generations. If he wants to go down as one of the greats he'll need to break either the 1500m or 5000m records.
It is an odd set of records he's going for. the 2k and 2M are very rarely run, so I suspect the quality of those records, whilst still very high, isn't the same as the 1500 or 3000.
I don't think he had a virus, either.
I suppose you don't think he broke the 2mi world record by over 4 seconds? 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Well he did it
"Nobody thought could fall" - I thought, and many other people. Of course that the records in a super-unpopular discipline are not great, I mean the video says it, El Guerrouj ran it 3 times in the whole career.. And now Ingebrigtsen was targeting specifically that, aided with the led's on the stadium. Recently a record in 2000m steeplechase W was broken as well, not that big of a surprise..
El Gs 2k pb pretty much has the same result score as his mile wr...1290 v 1292
Now imagine if El guerrouj was in this era
He wouldn't have access to those nice 90's roids. Or he would actually but they'd show up in drug tests.
Maybe he’ll prove me wrong, but Idk. 2000 is up in the air, but 1500/Mile? I don’t think so. I feel this way because subjectively Lagat and Hicham are just out right faster than Jakob over 400m.
That doesn’t mean he won’t break it
Definitely not this season, but maybe next…
It will be a super high quality race Jakob takes it in 4.46
JAKOB IS HIM!!!!
2 words josh kerr
yes. he would have done the double at champs if he wasnt sick, you could see he wasnt 100%, he just keeps getting faster every year
He would have done the double at the champs if he had better race tactics, and not only win when he's got a pacemaker to follow.
El Gurrouj must have been druged up to his ears, becauce the lanes, shoes and the training has evloved so much, since his prime. As the content creator points out, the records are falling, but not in the middle running distance. It is crazy that the 1500 m world record is not even close to be broken. All the records El Gurrouj has set, should just be whipte clean from the books. Jakob is trying and he is closing in, but it is unfair to him because he is clean and running at what should be world record breaking time.
If you are weak, you are weak. Stop coming with all excuses like your champion did at the moment. Uhh, I'm not healthy. Laughable. Even if you are healthy, you are not breaking El G's record in 1.5k. I guess you need another decade with a clean body, I mean literally clean without those "paint marks" on your body to boast that you are the great. I used to like him a few years back when he had humble beginning. But my man has grown up alongside his ego with all those rugged tattoos as years go by.
