Kareem Fadl I feel it would be better to do no gi because you learn to not rely on clothes to grab. Their both useful, if somebody has on a hoodie and jeans and fights somebody who trains in the gi then that guy is about to be choked out 😂😂
I can feel eddies relief at finally being able to make his case and explain his process so sincerely. Rickson is great here too, listening so respectfully even though this topic has been so charged for his family.

@John Sim the rubber guard worked on Royler Gracie straight into a triangle, back when Eddie was only a brown belt and taped a gracie black belt, put him in some fucked up positions in the remarch too. They're just pissed he's so goog.
Malte Chr The Gracie’s have too much machismo to admit that something may work better than their fighting system in a certain situation. If that’s what you saw then I think you are misreading him. I feel like the video is dripping of Rickson’s indifference.

I love how eddie is so respectful to Rickson when he's explaining why he took the gi away. It wasn't disrespect, it was passion for Jiu Jitsu and understanding that great martial arts have to evolve with time and new techniques.
@@hubster4477 why do people keep sayin that shit? its a dumb argument! mma was in its infancy, and there were no big names yet. we never knew who was better until the fight back then.
So was Royce, but he ended up doing well in mma. He lost some tough matches and won some. Rickson was so worried about his reputation he never fought anybody, even mid way through his career. Look what Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell "risked" fighting late in their career. They weren't worried about wins and losses ruining their reputation.
In his 30's and early 40's he could have fought Gokar Chivichyan, Sakuraba, Pat Miletich, Frank Shamrock, Guy Mezger, Igor Vovchanchyn to name a few. Plenty of names out there, to much fear of losing the reputation.
It's so funny hearing Eddie talk about ju jitsu. I'm not a smart guy myself, but no one would mistake Eddie for a rocket scientist. Guy starts talking about fighting and suddenly he is Einstein. Guess you just need to find what people are passionate about.

Eddie Bravo’s compassion and appreciation for JJ overwhelms me with excitement and joy for him and JJ itself. My grandmother is and has always been mad in love with JJ and she swears meditation with pure patience is her number 1 technique.
Dr. Drew wtf man come on. Thats legit uncalled for. You can tell Rickson is interested in what Eddie has to say. He's a smart man who is clearly open minded as you say. I don't agree with the people who say that Eddie is acting like a kid or something like that. He is just very articulate and says what he wants anyway, regardless of what anyone thinks - also who wouldn't be a bit excited if Rickson Gracie is there? That is Eddies chance to get the word out and he takes it. Silence his critics so to speak. Good on Eddie.
underboss87 Exactly. Eddie is superenthusiastic, and has said more than once how he views the Gracies. It's respect and adoration. And Rickson pays Eddie the respect he is due as another master and original thinker, someone who is great and has made it his own way.

Rickson isn't just listening out of good manners. He's genuinely taking it in. You can tell because he asks very specific follow-up questions about scenarios. Which is a great way to approach anything. Anybody can have a great pitch for something. It's when you catch them off-guard with questions about specific details that you find out if they are full of shit. +B DeWit I was getting that rickson was being very cautious with eddie and almost to the point of being assholish about it.maybe I am wrong.but the Gracie's still use the gi whereas new schoolers like bravo at tenth planet jiu-jitsu are mostly going no gi anymore. rickson says I'll sleep on it like a sort of an asshole which to me is funny because gracie jiu-jitsu was invented because Carlos and his brothers didn't have the strength for the judo throws so they took the ground game aspects of it and changed shit up.you would think they would be very open to learning new techniques.
Michael Mccollum Actually, I think Rickson was taking on the disposition of a polite student, while using body language to assert his own understanding and confidence in what he already knows. I think people are imagining the animosity, simply because of all the BS drama that is mostly invented. Kareem Fadl I feel it would be better to do no gi because you learn to not rely on clothes to grab. If you focus grabbing the body it’s more realistic because you’ll go into a situation expecting to grab the human instead of what he’s wearing.

@@lilmoses6861 very underrated.
Fuck! :')
Literally best comment.
It's a stationary plane motherfuckers, like it or not
I really appreciate how much credit Eddie's giving the Gracies' for developing the technique. This seems like a conversation Eddie has thought about a few times. Respect all around
0:00 -- 17:53 Eddie talking
Sooo nobody gonna tell Gracie that a spider dropped in on his hat 7:07
LMAO
Its anderson silva
It's almost like Eddie has his audition in-front of shark-tank, this is his moment in front of God. Viewing gold. I was bit harsh on Joe lol sorry joe
Ryan Sweeney What?
God? Lol god fears the Gracies
"The rubber guard, I don't know if you've heard of that..." haha love Eddie man, some people may see that as sarcasm but he is genuinely being humble to his hero
Two masters sharing knowledge. Props to Bravo for his humility and props to Rickson for keeping an open mind.
That was worth every second to listen to.
Eddie “Look into it” Bravo.
Rickson Gracie is just such a bad ass, the way he just listens and sits there like a boss...I would love to meet him
+Yasir Khan He doesn't have to say anything- he didn't need clarification, he understood what Eddie was showing him, and he didn't need to interject with crap like "Yes this is good, but in Gracie JJ, we do XYZ".... he didn't feel the need to, he's already proven himself, and I got the impression that he was just sort of... passively observing these techniques and storing them away, you know?
exactly, that is what I was so impressed by B DeWit
+B DeWit I was getting that rickson was being very cautious with eddie and almost to the point of being assholish about it.maybe I am wrong.but the Gracie's still use the gi whereas new schoolers like bravo at tenth planet jiu-jitsu are mostly going no gi anymore. rickson says I'll sleep on it like a sort of an asshole which to me is funny because gracie jiu-jitsu was invented because Carlos and his brothers didn't have the strength for the judo throws so they took the ground game aspects of it and changed shit up.you would think they would be very open to learning new techniques.
Michael Mccollum
Actually, I think Rickson was taking on the disposition of a polite student, while using body language to assert his own understanding and confidence in what he already knows. I think people are imagining the animosity, simply because of all the BS drama that is mostly invented. Rickson even says at the beginning of the video something like "I never heard you saying anything dis-hespectful abouch my family." or something similar... I don't think Rickson has time to deal with that drama, or feels the need to.
This is Eddie Bravo's elevator pitch.
You can always tell a BJJ guy's elevator pitch because he'll be bear foot and walking in circles
Holy shit imagine MMA fights in a 'cage' the size of an elevator, that really puts the close back in close combat.
Imagine him laying down in the conversation and saying “mount me”
@@uriahedwards I can imagine that
@Zeek Banistor he's past resistance and speaks from the heart, as himself. you're stuck, and he's making you feel bad. learn to relax my guy, it will all be fine. you are good enough.
HES SO ROUGH WITH JOE LMAO, with rickson hes so gentle but joe he just throws in subs np
Joe goes purple in 2 seconds as well
Rickson is old and has tons of injuries from his years of fighting.
Joe’s a student under Eddie’s 10th Planet system
"I don't wanna hurt you, come here Joe" hahaha
Have Steve-O and Eddie Bravo ever been in the same room? That’d be a hilarious podcast.
Joe Rogan, Eddie Bravo, Steve-o, Jorge Masvidal fight companion!
I just want Rogan, Jocko, and Ben Shapiro to just commentate on and instigate Eddie Bravo, Steve-O, and Alex Jones stuck in a room together. Also, just a gym session with Eddie and Alex would be gold.
