I put a line of graphite along one groove in the key and put it in and out of the lock, then repeat on the other side of the key. Then squirt a little bit more in. Seems to work to lubricate for me. No WD-40 either, it dries out over time like it's designed to.
I used graphite lube, on my garage lock, was getting sticky both turning and removing and fitting the key, , sprayed some in it, been working for the past 2 years
Great video. I hear the people say Oh just put Graphite in it. That will fix it. And 99.9% of the time the locks are wore out. Keep up the great work and Happy picking.
That's all I ever used for years mainly because back in my days there was no other choice, until many years later when they came out with the graphite spray. Pretty much all I'll use now but not investigated into anything that's better. Not done this trade in years now either, just as a lock sport.
@@DrLockShop, It's been so many years I don't remember the name nor who we ordered from. If you find some probably is in a small can, or ours was & you'll see when you get some you won't use anything else.
Graphite is a librication of olden days. It was used often because it was the only choice not because it was the best choice. Id use wd 40 before I used graphite and wd40 isnt even designed as a lube. Graphite will only cause you issues. Its not worth its weight. Ive heard it all. "Its great in dry climates" thats equally as stupid as me wearing a tank top and claiming its great as a jacket in warm climates. Either way, I get your point here. Im sensing a bit of frustration behind the creation of this video. Hilarious. I love all your videos. Specially your product review videos they are my favorite hope you are having a good day brother. I also just love to take locks off doors and shower both the door and myself with graphite. Its badass. Love it!
As a beginner lockpicker I find this very interesting. So far when I have come across an older lock that seems a bit touchy I give it a 1 second blast of carbie cleaner let it sit for a few hours until all the volatiles have evaporated then 1 puff of graphite and all seems good. Are there any other acceptable lock lubes I could use?
Ok, this is a little ridiculous. Of course graphite won't fix a broken lock! No one thinks it does. But when high humidity makes your locks stick, graphite works.
The problem these days, is not that graphite isn't working, it's that manufacturers use the cheapest employees possible, to use the cheapest materials possible, to make something we built in America 40 years ago, where graphite would have fixed the problem.
You are taking it the wrong way!...take your graphite #2 pencil and run it over the teeth on the key. Then insert in keyway...your pins and tumblers will get older as the yrs go on. Edit: also buy a lock NOT made in China? :)
I'm sure this video is aimed at your customers. The problem is they don't actually know the cause of their malfunctioning locks. That's what your job is for. You can't be mad when someone doesn't understand the real function of the lock... they aren't locksmiths like you lol.

It won't fix a lock that's properly bust but the graphite does help very well as a dry lubricant. I noticed a difference.
Lol... I love how you squirted graphite all over the place! Gave me quite a chuckle. Thanks for the info.. 😊👍

I will have to check out the spray, I have only used powder

Also use CRC Contact cleaner to flush locks out that are full of graphite to clean that garbage out before properly lubricating.

Graphite is excellent for lock picking, it has saved me a few times
Good enough for me
Where is Houdini available in Australia?
I know this reply is 4 years later but PTFE powder also works well. PTFE also is less messy because it is white.

How to you fix a lock that has been jammed up with graphite?
depends on the lock, try brake cleaner maybe it will flush some of it out
I used some this week...was an improvement for me
Duh graphite isn’t going to fix mechanical issues but for maintenance it’s the best
I'm not saying Graphite is bad, I'm just saying it a lubricant not a magic bullet

Are you sure you was using enough graphite? 😂😂 love your vids by the way!! Very entertaining..👍👍
I gave it a good handyman dose, still did not fix anything!! lol
BEFORE USING GRAPHITE POWDER, YOU NEED TO DEGREASE THE LOCK WITH GASOLINE OR BRAKE CLEANER
Never used it. Mentor told me did more harm then good.
Great point.
"let me show you.... It just look the same" sir I laughed alone in my van for 2mins ahahah, tx
I like to use gun butter for lock lubricant.
I use Houdini or tri-flo lubricant
Brilliant

Fixed mine.
I disagree with using graphite in locks. Not to be used on pin Tumblr locks only bit locks only. All it does is gum up the locks😡😡
graphite is the worst!!
