I have loved this band for so long, since I was about 15 I am 50 now. However good they are in the studio, they are.amzing live, very few bands are equal to them. I am glad you appreciate them.
@@johnj28 Some Great Reward...one hell of a good album. A headphone trip...especially 'Blasphemous Rumours'. Bands of this era did well I think...assuming many like me: wore out the cassettes and re-bought on CD when we started working :-)
Alan Wilder said he felt this was the best song that Martin had ever written! Basically just saying, "Don't be so quick to judge others as you have NO IDEA what they go through on a Daily Basis!" Great song, The video's don't always represent the message!
There's a great analysis in the comments on the official video that translates the appearance of the ugly characters as representations of the seven deadly sins. The imagery is inspired by or taken straight from paintings by Hieronymus Bosch, the birds especially from The Temptation of St. Anthony. The message between the song and the video are pretty relative to each other, in my opinion. This has been my favorite music video since I was 10, and Anton Corbjin is one of my most important influencers as a photographer and writer.
It's my opinion too that In Your Room is their best ever track (and of course I'm talking about the album version) It's just perfect in every way, and completely original. There's been nothing else that sounds like that song that I've heard before or since it came out. It's a beautiful rare diamond, and a testament to Alan Wilder's work
Just try to walk in another shoes. Brilliant and perfect ! Beautiful reaction to a song that`s so impressive and take a point of view of the people not so strong and healthy. LOVE IT !!!
I saw them here in Austin in 2017 and Dave was an absolute rock star, the crowd sang every song (including me🤓) . It was awesome. Anyway, love you and your channel❤️❤️
This was a great Depeche Mode album! Please consider reacting to Depeche Mode's "Condemnation", the next single from the same album, it was a great vocal performance.
Love your reaction, love Depeche Mode, and of course love this song. I would recommend the song *A Pain That I'm Used To* by Depeche Mode off their stellar album "Playing the Angel". My favourite Depeche Mode record of the 2000's.
I was wondering when you were going to reach the Songs of Faith and Devotion album. Would have to be one of the best songs they've ever made. I think so anyway. If you asked the band they often point to this album as being their favourite, even though it was the most difficult time they ever faced personally, and the music reflects that. But they transitioned from an 80s band to a 90s band with this album. A feat not many of their peers were able to do. Any vestige of their synth pop past had been firmly left behind them. Your reaction was entirely appropriate. It's a lot to take in this song and video. Lots of layers to it, so it's definitely one for repeated listenings! Thanks :)
I just loved the, "Sorry I'm not saying much guys, I'm just trying to process this imagery" - followed immediately by ice-skating bird people... great moment! Apparently, DM's video director, Anton Corbijn, based this video on Hieronymus Bosch's "The Garden of Earthly Delights" art en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Garden_of_Earthly_Delights
I dunno what it is but the 80's pop rock bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and Tears for Fears have really been growing on me lately. I never listened to them much until now.
Add the Cure (+ don't miss Arcadia, a spinoff one-shot group with 3 Duran Duran members) and you've basically got my go-to groups of the 80s. Have fun!
i basically cycle through "depeche mode reactions" on youtube as they are my favourite band, and its so fascinating to see someone experience some of their songs for the first time. This is my favourite song, so great choice, everyone else went for Enjoy The Silence. Great video, and hope you go on to listen to more Depeche Mode x
The Gospel according to Depeche Mode.. This was and still is iconic, imo , songs of faith and devotion was the pinnacle of their career and this was one of Anton’s best video’s..
Best song in my masterpieces list, just in second place is song from Pink Floyd. This atmosphere, details of sounds, something never ending dark beauty. ❤
Top-notch Mode tune. I recommend checking out the live renditions of this song. 1993's Devotional tour and 2001's Exciter tour. Excellent interpretations of the song.
This whole album was a new sound for them and I fell in love with them all over again. Loved this tour. Going Backwards from their latest album is also fantastic.
The downside of this video is the album version goes on a lot longer so the wonderful instrumental breaks are in more full effect. This was at their commercial peak, yet this was the only one of 4 singles released from the album that did not go top 10 in the UK.
My favorite of Depeche Mode’s is “I Want It All.” It’s not one everyone knows. Love them in concert too! Great live energy. And my first dance at My wedding was to their hit, “Somebody.”
I love that you react to DM songs that not many people do. Your silence and expression are a reaction in itself. And Dave's voice, the production, the lyrics, the imagery -- peak artistry! There's not an even remotely disappointing song on this album. The singles off this album are also Condemnation, I feel you, In your room.. I think you will love any one of them, though In your room is one of my top 5 DM songs.
Omg you made my friday! Awesome! This is from Songs of Faith and Devotion and I believe 1.a masterpiece 2. Its Alan Wilder unbridled...lol all that layering of sound is all Alan imho...again tbanks a mil for reaction...and your silence speaks volumes ...its sensory overload in a great way😀
I've been a Depeche Mode fan since 1983. If I remember correctly, Dave Ghan was still eyeballs deep in heroin and at times they had to stop because he was so bad he couldn't even sing any of the songs! Band member, Alan Wilder left after this albumn.
@@macewbee Alan always felt unappreciated because, quite frankly, he was. Because he wasn’t an original band member, the other guys treated him more like a hired gun than anything else. DM is my all-time favorite band, but they’ve never been the same since Alan left. He truly was the architect of their brooding sound.
Recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Depeche Mode have done really well to last as long as they have done. Also, I just want to take the opportunity to inform people of the sad news about one of the band members Andy Fletcher who has recently died. I know he didn't play the drums and certainly wasn't lead singer (that's David Gahan) I think he was synthesizers/keyboard if not guitar. But anyway, RIP Andy Fletcher.
Yay! I'm so happy you finally did this one. It really shows how much they were willing to change their sonic landscape from the very clean, and precise electronics of Violator and get a bit dirtier, grittier and grungier. Dave was inspired by the grunge acts of the early 90s... and of course Alan had the biggest influence on the sound being the sonic master that he is. Songs of Faith & Devotion is a masterpiece from start to finish. I recommend In Your Room (album version) - the video uses a different mix (Zephy Mix - by Butch Vig of Garbage), which I think is a bit overrated and overplayed. The album version is a masterpiece. Judas sung by Martin is another one of my favorites from SOFAD. You might also enjoy the song Rush. It's more hard hitting and has a faster beat to it.
As always, I love hearing your thoughts on Depehce Mode.Always sincere and insightful. If you can, please react to their song (as well as the video), "Wrong."
Loving your DP reactions. Strongly suggest I Fell You but to go with the lyric video. Official one is good but music can overtake the lyrics and make hard to understand them at time, IME. Think you’ll like it, especially as you’ve such a love for David's voice.
Incredible song from DM, definitely one of my favourite from their catalogue. Timeless masterpiece !! 😍 You should react to the live version of their song “HALO” from the Devotional Tour from 1993. Incredible song, energy and mood. You’re gonna like it for sure, especially this version. 😍
I suggest with this album just listening to the music and don’t focus on the video, because it distracts from the lyrics. Just my two cents. Love this song so much.
Stripped is my favorite Mode song, maybe take a look a that if you have time. Strangelove is also another good commercial song. Wrong is a good video also.

Hi. I found your Kate Bush past videos. I dont think you have done anything off her last studio album 60 words for snow.w which includes a duet with Elton John Someone is who is sort of going into Bush country is Katie Melua with The Flood And My Happy Place so I would urge you to check Ms Nelua out also. She Is a very great lady of song and is developing nicely
I would never wish heroin addiction on anybody and I'm ecstatic that Dave healthy, alive and happy. But, damn he looked good with the long hair and beard and mustache. This was some of the best music they ever did but a run of what for me, were bad videos.
