I've collected Morgans for over 22 years and I'd never heard of this outlining. Most instructive. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Ben. I've learned one more thing "outlining"

Pawn Stars called the 1895-P proof the King of Morgan Dollars but the 1893-S is the true King. I'll have to look out for those outlined devices. I've seen coins look like this before and didn't know what I was looking at. I thought it was tarnish/dirt but it may have been tooled as well. Thanks TheCoinGeek!

Some morgans are so beautiful they look like angels. I get the rarity thing because I get sick of 1880-1882 S over and over , but I could get a 67 or even a 68 for that price

I also believe in getting the toughest coins in a series first if I am going to collect that series. That's why I have never collected Morgan dollars!

My favorite Silver Dollar fideo and where the 1795 and very fine 35 and the 1893s and very fine 2 0 have sold them both for-profit but love them 2 coins it was an honor to hold them

That is so goofy. Why would anyone want to do that "outlining" machining? Your video is very good in describing & showing this.

B/c they wanted to make it look better from a distance. Why? Only the person who did it would know. It could have been dishonesty to sell it on eBay or otherwise. It could have been they did it b/c they could and were bored. Or they could have thought, like people who clean coins, that they were making it look more like it (supposedly) did when it was new.

    “Get the tougher ones first...”
That’s true; my first silver purchase was a 100oz bar. It’s been mostly easier from that point.
