How to Crochet Santa Hat - Video One

- In this video we will begin working on this fun Santa Hat. This pattern is provided courtesy of Redheart.com Go to www.redheart.com to download the free written pattern. This video is a crochet-along and I will be going line by line of the written pattern. This will help you to better understand written patterns as you follow along. This video tutorial continues on Video 2. These hats are a fun and festive way to enjoy the holidays. You will probably want to make more than one. It is sized in small/med and large. I used the RedHeart Supersaver in white and cherry red.

En este video empezamos a trabajar este gorro de Santa en crochet (gancho). Este gorro es una manera divertida de disfruta la temporada navidena. El patron escrito en ingles esta disponible en www.redheart.com Los subtitulos en Espanol estaran en la pantalla. Este gorro se puede hacer en tallas chica/mediana y grande. Estaremos hacienda la talla chica/mediana. Yo lo hice en esta talla y me quedo muy bien.

You skipped stitches while crocheting the 60 stitches. Why didn't you decrease a couple of stitches per 20 instead? Won't skipping cause a hole? Love your video's, I figure this rib stitch can be used for any hat. Going to try tonight with a baby hat. Thanks

This Santa hat is so cute. I'm gonna try to see if I can make it so I can wear my ponytail through it. I'm always wearing my hair up. I will have to figure out something.
Update: This morning 12/27/21, I decided to measure out 2 inches from the starting point to make my ponytail hole so I can pull my ponytail through it. It'll work when I chain 11 on the 2 inch mark then I will come back around and do double crochets around the chain and keep going with the double crochets like you are showing in the video. I'm doing a team colored Santa hat in royal blue and white.

Yes, I think it really helps to get stitches in more evenly
I would have divided it into sections of ten instead of twenty. Even easier to stay on track!

Yolanda, this was exactly what I needed! Being able to see the stitches up close and the abbreviates on the directions explained was perfect. yes, you are able to sell items, and it is a one size fits most... although my grandkids also wear them

This was a really good video, except I only wish you had gone a little slower and zoomed the camera in on the double crochet stitch when you started in on the red. Other than that this was very good!
You just saved me hours more of hunting for the Santa hat I "thought" I wanted to do. I don't know why I didn't come to you first since everything you do is always so easy to understand. I really hope this goes farther than just saving my mind, but that it blesses me to bless others. I'm running out of money to bless others, so doing this for a craft fair to help a young lady in a bad situation. Prayers will be more into these hats than yarn will be. You could easily turn this into an elf hat by using green instead of white and using a smaller pom pom or not at all!

Red Heart has a knit version of the Santa Hat . It's called Knit Santa Hat. Can you demonstrate how to knit this Santa Hat? Thank You for providing very nice tutorials.
I'm doing a similar hat but for a baby. It's also a free red heart pattern. It's done with sc. The instructions say that the first chain of a round does not count as a separate stitch? Do they mean that I count that chain as a sc or no? Don't know why they state that way ? Thank you

Where is Video 2, beginning with Row 9? That's the row I'm having trouble with; I think the instructions may be in error and the unit ends with another dctog, but I'm not sure.
