Wow, that is a stunningly beautiful trail! I had never heard of it, but then, I'm an east-coaster. What's the purple thing at the top of your spoon at 15:45? Is that part of the handle or some kind of attachment? Wonderfully filmed and narrated as usual. Thanks for bringing this trail to us!
I have a 2015 Forested. Its supposed to go 5000 (I believe) before an oil change but I find you need to start adding oil around 3000. Its a known problem so watch out for that. Also had the transmission issue you talked about on BPR. Glad y'all rallied for an awesome trip! TCT is on my short list.
yep! we added some oil (I can't remember if I mentioned that) and it was fine after that. The combo of that and my gas gauge I think being semi-off from the heat? going uphill? not sure..but the combo was what did me in haha. and yeah that transmission issue is a real treat huh? Hope you get to go and enjoy!
I'm gonna try and get the peemit to do this hike but it seems so confusing. Do u need to tell them 3 different zones you're going to be camping in? And if so, what 3 zones do u recommend?
Definitely depends on what mileage you’re comfortable with but I recommend death canyon shelf, south fork cascade canyon and upper paintbrush. But you can edit your permit when you pick it up in person!
Yes! You should be ready with some iteneraries when the permits are relased on recreation.gov (might be pretty soon). I did something pretty similar to @brianne1r (instead of upper paintbrush we did Holly Lake. If you don't get exactly what you want, it seemed like it was pretty easy to change it at the ranger station when you arrive to pick up your permits. The zones all have designated sites in them, so you can kind of choose once you get there.
I love the Tetons! I do giggle thinking about the alleged origin of the name, though, because I am a child 😂 (apparently in French, "Grand Teton" means "large boob," essentially)
Oh I do too, apparently some french explorer added that name. Assuming he didn't actually no what a "teton" looked like or hadn't seen one in many, many years.
heard the podcast episode about this and it's great to see the video - it's like seeing a perfect film adaptation of a book :-D
that's such a great compliment, thank you!
Great video, Elise. Enjoyed the recap with Chaunce on BPR. Hope to get around to this trail eventually thanks to y'all. Cheers!
thanks so much! it's a great one to get on the list!

So beautiful... what month was this?
July!
Subarus are notorious for losing a quart of oil. Something to check and refill so you have enough oil. Hey you got a story out of it.
I actually just had this happen again! Luckily, I knew not to panic this time. And yes, very good story even if I was panicking in the moment!

More like "big nipple", which is possibly even funnier. Makes me uncomfortable every time I hear it though x)
Out of gas lol
funny looking back for sure
