I think my wife and I stayed at the same spot on Death Canyon Shelf in August and we were up from 1 am to 5 am with those damn porcupines. There were two and they ate up my wife's pole pretty good and were running around squeaking all night. And my wife nearly had a bear spray mishap because the safety had come off but I spotted it before anything bad happened. I think we were on the same hellish trip!

That porcupine was a real "prick". Trekking poles are ridiculously expensive at REI.
