There are even more disgusting facts going around this. In 2018, a Hong Kong couple went to Taiwan for vacation. During a quarrel, the guy killed the girl and after disposing the body, he flew back to Hong Kong. The Taiwanese police through video footages, found the culprit, but were unable to extradite the guy as there were no extradition law between Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan. In fact, not only that, there is also no complete extradition law between Mainland China, Macao SAR, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan. The Hong Kong Legislative Council decides to plug the loopholes once and for all and came up with a comprehensive Extradition bill (draft) to be passed.
This is where Jimmy Lai came in. He falsified the content of the bill, claiming that with this, the Mainland police will be able to roam freely in Hong Kong to arrest anyone who badmouth the CPC. This stroked fear in the Hong Kongers and all came out to protest. Jimmy continued to spread lies, which ended up with the whole violent episode in Hong Kong. The Extradition bill (draft) has since been rescinded.
Alas, up till today, the murderer is still unpunished, the victim could not rest in peace. Jimmy Lai's hand is stained with the blood of the victim and her unborned. Where is the justice for the victim?

The problem with majority of the people in Hong Kong is that they see themselves as equal to the whites in the UK and US hence more superior than Chinese from the Mainland; but then to the American and British, they are just Asian who can never be white. This kind of delusion is what gave Jimmy Lai the audacity to beg US to nuke China which is totally ludicrous. The only reason the US and UK are interfering in HK is that it brings political advantage to them in their effort to deter China as a growing global superpower. Throughout the 100-year of British reign, Hong kongers who emigrated to the UK for work or study were never considered 'one of us' by the British, they have always been regarded as the outsiders who were ridiculed for their ethnic look and strong accent. In fact the earliest mockery of Chinese accent in the West came from how Cantonese or Hong Kong people sounded when they spoke English. This is also reflected in a lot of early western movies, not to mention the shady characters they have been portrayed as. I believe it's now time for people of Hong Kong to rethink/realign their identity and understand that after all these years, they are still Chinese.

Mainland China is arguably the only one in the world that truly cares for Hong Kong. We know that the United States clearly doesn't, and mainland Chinese have been taught to regard the people of Hong Kong as part of the same family. Cyrus, you fully understand and describe the situation in Hong Kong during 2019 - 2020. Hong Kong was then a lawless place and vandalism was a daily routine.
I was born in Hong Kong and received colonial education to distance ourselves from our mother land. I marched to the Xinhua News Agency to protest the crack down of student movement in Beijing on June 4th. But what have come to light thereafter in the past decades prove to me that China is not necessarily a bad or evil country as asserted by western countries. China is always ruthlessly attacked by western smearing campaigns and disinformation. The 2019 riot in Hong Kong fully convinced me that only our mother land will wholeheartedly stand on our side and take care of our interest. When Hong Kong faces trouble, our mother land will be at our back.

George Soros walk away with massive losses.
Backed by Beijing, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) made the controversial decision on August 14 to enter the market, buying up 118 billion HK dollars' (15 billion U.S. dollars) worth of stocks and futures in two breathtaking weeks of trading, and eventually driving out international speculators.

Joshua Wong is a hypocrate. In 2019 in an interview with the BBC he justified the rioter trashing of Hong Kong's Legislative Council building on the basis that they were not a fully elected body. The day after the interview he flew to Taiwan and was hosted by the student rioters of the Sunflower Movement who had earlier trashed Taipei's Legislative Yuan building because they were against a trade agreemenmt with mainland China. The ironic fact is that the ROC Legislature in Taipei is 100 percent elected yet Joshua Wong condoned these rioters' un-democratic actions.. Joshua Wong is just a tool of the colonialist UK who are in turn just lapdogs of the USA.

The colonizer not only colonize territory, but they also colonized the local people's minds, through promoting their own culture over theirs, and also devising education systems to inculcate their values into the local children. Even after the colonizer left, the minds of the people may remain enslaved and loyal to their former masters. This _"colonial mentality"_ is remains predominate in Hong Kong, India, the Philippines and other former colonies.

What you said is true but the positive side of this is that this could lead to the eventual collapse of the hegemonic regime. I remembered a time maybe 30-40 years ago, Western culture had been very progressive. They were the first to help people struck by natural disasters around the world and they produced academicians and thinkers who were pro-Human civilization. They somehow lost it for some reasons (due to greed of their political/business elites.... etc?) which led to our current situation. Hopefully, the alternative system which would replace this blatantly unfair system, would be more humanistic because we learnt lessons to avoid such inhuman leadership (the PTB ruling the world today).

For example, the recipient country might had to meet the requirement of being a "liberal democracy" in order to qualify for receiving aid. Academicians, thinkers and other philosophers also existed in other parts of the world, like for example Confucius. Cyrus, what you said is all true. I witnessed it and I saw many so-called protesters; they were really rioters and monsters who beat, threatened or killed people who disagreed with them. They bumped into me and didn't say sorry. t is odd that the rioters looked down on the Chinese from China, and many people in Hong Kong still do. Good (or bad) examples are the several Cathy Pacific flight attendants who were rude to mainland Chinese passengers last year. What a shame. Many in the West, including the media, are blind to all these. Worse than hypocrisy. Rather it is lack of conscience and moral standards.

    2. Many of Hong Kong's judges were foreigners. Ask yourself how many of US or UK judges are foreigners?
    3. Many Hong Kong residents did not support the demostrators. My Hong Kong friends are some of them.
    4. Extradiction law are common in most countries.
    5. National security laws are common in most countries. Singapore and Malaysia have Internal Security Act which the government use to put opposition people away without charges. This is the legacy from the previous UK colonial administration. US and Canada have similar laws.
