  • Silver solder paste allows chain making to be a quick and simple process.
    Soldering with paste solder is a surprisingly easy and enjoyable technique.
    In this video I demonstrate how a fine chain can be soldered with silver solder paste.

    I have some Medium silver solder paste that’s completely dried out in the syringe it’s 30 g and I don’t want to waste it. Do you know how I can reconstitute it by mixing it with something and then put it back in the syringe?

    • @Nickscreativestuff
      @Nickscreativestuff  Год назад +1

      hi Kizzy, i’ve never had this problem with solder paste but I have heard that you may be able to reconstitute it with either distilled water or Vasoline. 30g is a lot to lose, if it was me I would start experimenting with mixing tiny tiny amounts and then testing it to see if it still works.
      i’m sure with a bit of googling you may come up with a few other options you could test … good luck with it … Nick

      @@Nickscreativestuff oh vaseline or distilled water, that’s interesting I will definitely try small batches 1st as you suggested. I vaguely remember seeing a video about using Mineral oil too re constitute dry solder paste… I will definitely do a Google search again. Thanks

      i’ve also just read mineral oil works well, liquid flux and even pure genuine turpentine. I think it’s a matter of trial and error until you find something you’re happy with … hope it goes well … N

      You did great. I've toyed with a solder iron back when I knew nothing about wire work. I messed the tip up and haven't gotten back to it. I've never used the paste but you totally inspired me to get some. I think can work with that stuff.

    What are the applications for the different grades of paste silver solder?

    • @Nickscreativestuff
      @Nickscreativestuff  Год назад +3

      The different grades “hard” “medium” and “easy” are for temperature control. hard needs the most heat to melt and easy meals at the lowest temperature. using them in combination allows the fabrication of complicated pieces with more than one joint. starting with hard the next join in a process would use less heat allowing the first joint to hold and not be affected by subsequent heatings … N
