  • This video is to show a simple way to clean and polish silver jewellery using a brass brush and soap.
I use this technique for polishing silver chain after I finished making one.
Polishing a silver ring is made easy using this method.
It’s important to use a pure brass brush with liquid soap for this procedure to work.

    Cool idea! And inexpensive.
Personally I put my jewelry in a small rock tumbler with steel shot, just enough water to cover and a drop of dish detergent and tumble for 30 minutes.

hi cheeky thanks for that, I do the same for a final polish, love the way it comes out of a barrel. I use this brass brush technique for a quick pre-polish or to see how I’m getting on halfway through a chain making project … cheers … Nick

Thanks a bunch Nick for these videos. Will you be able to make a video of basic soldering kits? How to connect propane tanks and what head to buy and how to set it up? I am new to smelting, live in an apartment worried about safety. If you could show that I would be highly obliged. Thanks again

Hi Ridhin, I find a lot of people have concerns with the safety of using gas and rightly so, it can be a very dangerous product to handle.
But with a few basic safety precautions to follow it’s very versatile and fun to use.
i’ve been meaning to make a video about what gas torches and gas products are available to use and what they’re used for. I would including basic soldering techniques and what else is needed.
these videos do take me awhile to get sorted but it is on the list of things to do … thanks for the suggestion … all the best … Nick

I’ve wondered if brass brushes would put scratches in 925. I don’t see any scratches on yours. 👍

hi JC, it gives a fine brush finish great for cleaning up tarnished chains however it’s not a mirror finished like rouge on a mop or tumble polishing but is great for a pre-clean.
not sure if I got that across in the vid… Nick

do you have advise for polishing sterling silver jewelery that has a gem in it without damaging the gem?

    • @Nickscreativestuff
      @Nickscreativestuff  Год назад +1

being a hobbyist I’ve not done much with gemstones however some are very hard and some are very soft depends what it is if it will resist polishing or not … maybe ask in a jewellers shop … N

    Great idea.
Just a question. What’s the difference using this method or just use tooth paste with flngers and rinse it off?

thanks for your comment Sanniz, there are many ways to peel a potato, but I’ve not heard of this trick with toothpaste. I’ll have to give it a go, however not sure if I’ve got the patience to thread floss through the gaps … appreciate the suggestion … Nick
