From 2006-2009 59% of deaths due to dog attacks were pit bulls, followed by 14% by rotweilers Another statistical study was done from 1982-2006: Total attacks that caused bodily harm: 2209 Pit Bull Terrier: 1110- First place Rotweiler: 409- Second place Wolf Hybrid: 71- Third place Oh and Pit Bull Terrier is a breed: The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a medium-sized, solidly built, short haired dog whose early ancestors came from England and Ireland.
my Ridgeback was mauled by a boarder collie in my local park. his side was ripped open and he had to have emergence surgery, for 4 weeks he had to see the vet every 3rd day! there are cctv cameras in this park and the police won't do anything and the dog wardens won't do anything unless we have the owners name and address, he ran off we don't have any of his details so he’s gotten away with it. Thumps up for the dangerous dogs act 1991(sarcasm)
@beehappy718 I do agree with you on any dog can attack but its not always the owners fault other people shouldnt be so dumb and provoke animals or pet every random dog they see without asking the owner first imo. My neighbor walks her german shepherd mix with a muzzle on because the last owner didnt socialize him right and people still try to piss the dog off, pet it without permission, or curse the hell out of the owner for "putting a muzzle on such a beautiful dog that deserves to be free"...
If I could post links I would but there's a chart of dog attacks from 1982-2011 in the United States and Canada combined and guess what's at the top (listed by greatest number of deaths)? Pit Bull Terriers. Oh and they're .033 of the dog population (that's 3.3%)
"...because the incident took place on private land there is nothing they can do." Really? I bet if it had been a pitbull it would be a whole different story.
Nope, with all of those 20 breeds the dog population of what was called put bull terrier was still 3.3% and still killed the most amount of people from 1982-2011
That is straight up BS! Boxers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Rottweilers, Pointers, Bull Terriers and the countless other breeds and breed mixes people mistake for Pit Bulls only add up to 3% of the dog pop in the US!? According to the AKC, in 2011 Boxers were #6, Rottweilers were #10, Pointers were #15, Mastiffs were #28, Ridgebacks were #44, Bull Terriers #51 and American Staffordshire Terriers were #72 on the list of the most registered breeds with the AKC. Doesn't seem like less than 3% to me!! ;)
Also, there is no breed called simply "Pit Bull Terrier." There is the American Staffordshire Terrier (recognized by the AKC) and the American Pit Bull Terrier (recognized by the UKC), both of which can be properly called "Pit Bulls." There are at least 10 breeds that are commonly mistaken for Pit Bulls, that number rises to about 20 when you count quick glances by scared witnesses. Would you like to revise your statistics now?
@Supercucu123 But perhaps your next videos should be about how great pit bulls and how every dog can be a great pet and friend under the care of a competent owner. No trolling, flaming or insult intended.
@falynch however it is my dog that i am unable to take to ireland with me when i visit my family, beacuse his breed is listed in irelands bsl as 'dangerous', and are completely banned in dublin. my dog didn't even fight back yet its him that some mps want to kill.
Petsdo com dogbitelaw com and wikipedia for the definition of an american pit bull terrier Oh and you never asked where I got the statistics in the first place just by the way
It's really easy to just say that sources are biased, watch. The AKC is a biased source in favor of all dog breeds, even the ones more likely to cause harm, to sell more things from their online store.
Your video are great and informative. Correct me if I am wrong but you are against breed specific legislation right? However, some of your videos does not seem help the pit bull cause but serves to portray a bad image on all dogs in general. The message you seem to convey is that ALL DOGS SHOULD BE BANNED. Giving other dogs a bad reputation isn't going to help pit bulls. Once again, I do agree that the media reports are very selective and unfair.
Again, where are you getting your information from? If it is from Colleen Lynn, Dogs Bite (dot) org, Craven Desires, or Merritt Clifton, it is biassed and faulty. If it isn't from any of those places, why not say where you are getting your statistics?
well who the hell told the kid to go on that private land? he was obviously in the wrong place. border collies don't go well with children because they see them the same way they see sheep. and, your videos inciting hate on dogs in general are lame. these cases on dog attacks are not common. if anything, humans are more dangerous, go look at the annual count on murders conducted by humans alone. you don't see dogs starting war and conducting genocide, do you?
