- Today we are going to have a look inside John Travolta's Airplane. John Travolta is not only one of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood. He also has one of the largest private jet collections in the world and even has his own Boeing 707 from Qantas. Not only is he the owner of the airplanes like a bombardier challenger or a Gulfstream, but he also has a pilot license for all his planes, which allows him to fly his airplane collection alone. On top of that, he owns a massive airport mansion. The house is built so he can drive his airplanes directly to his front door and park it there.

The man is obviously a real keen aviator. He uses one passion to fund another. It is always good to see some one go after something with such passion and enthusiasm. Good on him ! He works hard.

I've always admired John Travolta, from the "Sweat Hogs" to one of Hollywood's best actors, he deserves all his success.
I have always admired Mr. Travolta's acting ability but his friendly nature is engaging, as is his love of flying.
I also admired his dancing. wow

John getting licensed and being a good pilot is impressive. Comparred to other actors this takes work and deducation.

One of my old roomates was a airplane mechanic. He met John when he landed one of his planes at the airport he worked at. He worked at both Kansas City International and the small downtown Kansas City airport. I don't remeber which one he was working at the time. I think it was the downtown airport. He said John was one of the nicest people he had ever met and even took him for a ride in his aircraft.
The pilot's uniform suits him very well. 👌😍

John Travolta has brought so much light, love and joy into the world. He is a true blessing and a true star. Such a wonderful talent and a beautiful soul. He deserves all the good things in life. I feel so sorry for all the tragic losses he has had. I have autism and I suffer with anxiety. I find that his films really help. I like his singing voice and his dancing. There is something healing about him. He seems really positive and has a good sense of humour. Flying is such a passion in his life so wonderful. ✈️

One commenter seemed to put forth that " money could buy happiness " , but I believe for John Travolta, it is like another commenter stated. He lost his son, and now apparently, his wife also. Maybe that is why his estate is up for sale. John Travolta has given us some great performances, in the entertainment field. I wish for him peace and good health.
His wife Kelly Preston died of breast cancer in July 2020 at 57 yrs.

Would be nice to have actually seen the inside of his 707.
His Gulfstream 2 named Jettson sat in front of our base facility for about a 1yr before it was transferred to a museum or somewhere later. It was actually unlocked so we would go on there and look at the dated interior and some trinkets left behind. Fascinating!

We have a lot in common. I was a CFI in NY while driving for a car service like in his movie. I've flown Cessnas and Pipers. He's living a life that I could only dream of.

He is type rated in multiple aircraft. Any aircraft over 12,500 lbs you need a type rating before you can act as pilot in command.

QANTAS have several celebrity pilots. Travolta flies for them on many routes to maintain his hour log. He also has a regular gig doing special appearances.
Not so much flies, as sits in the cockpit. He does not have a transport pilot's licence.
He did pass the Quantas training for Captain on the 707 and First Officer training on the 747.@@hb1338
There has always been speculation as to John Travolta’s actual aviation qualifications. As I understand it he has an unrestricted licence with endorsements to fly a number of jet aircraft. Whether he holds a Class 1 ATPL (Airline Transport Pilots License) I do not know. But I believe the Class 1 license is the one required to fly as pilot in command of aircraft such as the B707. Just for the record anyone who has or has held a pilots license did it by their own achievements, study of navigation, meteorology, aircraft performance etc AND flew the hours to achieve the necessary standards. So on this aspect I congratulate John for his ability and love of flying.
The big issue is keeping up the hours of log book time to keep the rating. My understanding is that this must be done for each of the makes and models a person wants to fly or their company will allow them to fly.@@michaelhayden725

Remember, JT is an actor and he's holding a mere private pilots license and is not allowed to fly airliners commercially. He only "flew" the Qantas 747 simulator als a copilot, years ago. On his small jets he always (always !) has a professional instructor pilot in the cockpit seat. The same story with the other Sciontology pilot, Tom Cruise.

I guess Travolta also needs a co-pilot/ first officer on his flight deck if he want's to take of with his Boeing. Ironically this rich guy said "I haven't enough money to own a Boeing 747-400 .....I like him and I always liked Mr. Travolta!

The ICAO spelling for the letter J isn‘t Jericho but Juliett.
When John was doing the movie "URBAN COWBOY" back in 1979 John brought one of his planes while he was at Gilley's Nite Club. Being the great person he is John took some of the other actors who the movie was actully about out for a flight from LaPorte, TX to Dallas then over to San Antonio then back. I was there when he wrote the check for the plane. I was one of the extras in movie and John was great and down to earth.
Ok so we didn’t see one shot of the inside of the aircraft. Awesome description .

My niece worked at a comedy club and after the show she drove him back to his hotel room. She didn't know who he was! Gabriel Kaplan. My aunt was a legal secretary an attorney that sued JT when The Villiages sued him over landing too heavy plane at the airstrip there and that's when he moved.
Poor John lost the people he loved, that’s really sad, such a lovely guy even worked with Olivier Newton John, she’s gone what a loss. I’ll never call him John Revolting again total respect to him, unfortunately I suspect I’ll never meet him. Take it easy John 🙂
We live in a retirement community not far from his house. He is often seen at the movie theatre here and he is very pleasant with everybody.

Yeah that “advice “ the air traffic controller gave him are called “instructions”. I’m glad everything worked out ok.
The FAA regulations state that the pilot in command has the last say. Specifically: The pilot-in-command of an aircraft is directly responsible for and is the final authority as to the operation of that aircraft. In an emergency requiring immediate action, the pilot-in-command may deviate from any rule in 14 CFR Part 91, Subpart A, General, and Subpart B, Flight Rules, to the extent required to meet that emergency.
This rule is well written. A few are, but most air traffic controllers are not pilots. I am. I listen to the controller's instructions but won't hesitate to say "unable" if their instructions put me in jeopardy.

@@paulsz6194 no, HARS - the Historical Aviation Restoration Society - in Shellharbour. The plane is in the US and is in a decrepit state. Travolta donated it to HARS and they are in the process of restoring it to airworthiness before bringing it back to its Shellharbour museum.

Just got off set a few weeks ago down in Biloxi Mississippi on CASHOUT2. I played one of the FBI agents and I have to say after talking to Mr. Travolta he's one of the nicest actors and human beings I've ever run across!
Fun fact: In the late 80s when Eastern Airlines pilots went on strike, Travolta was on the short list for being an ATP for them.
The introductory statement says that Travolta can fly his airplanes alone. This is not true for the B707, and possibly some of the others. The 707 requires two pilots and a flight engineer to be airworthy.
You can bet he leases the jets out to other charter operations. That’s how he can afford those aircraft.
Worked him several years back flying back and forth from the Bahamas. Wanted him to sing “ gonna let her in” on the radio.

I worked in protocol at wright patterson AFB when he flew in for the Centennial of flight in 2004. I met John and toured this aircraft. His crew gave me his magazine with him on the cover promoting Quantas jets.
