Until 2 years ago, it sat unflown for a quite a while at Jumbolair, FL, near Ocala. That is where John Travolta's home is, adjacent to the private airstrip which was always pretty marginal for a 707. In 2018 he donated the 707 to the HARS museum in Albion Park, Australia, but due to corrosion and other structural & engine issues, for now it's not able to fly across the Pacific. So in 2018 they flew it to Brunswick, GA for maintenance, repairs, and certification. As of June 2020, it's still there but reportedly progress is being made. Its final flight will be the multi-stop ferry delivery to Australia, hopefully but not definitely this year.

A couple years later the 8s were relegated to to domestic service after the 707s went into service for about tow years there were a couple flights between my hometown of Milwaukee and New York on the 8s before they were sold and replaced with 720-Bs for domestic service (another favourite).
Yeah those were the days when the "big jets", 707s, 720s DC-8s DC-8 Supers, 880s, 990s, VC-10s, and the first 747s ruled the skies.
Rob Youngquist yeah, I flew on a lot of Air Canada stretched DC-8s & 9s back in the ‘70s. DC-8 was my fave, never flew on a 707 though.
kyotokid4 hello, most people would not notice the difference between aB07 & aB 720, I used to ly on LUFTHANSA B707 DAYS from IDELWILD. ( KJFK NOW ) to KINGSTON JAMAICA THEY stopped flying to KIN, after rape flight attendants , the go now through PR, down all the way to LA PAZ BOLIVIA, , then back with the route, to FRANKURT A MAIN . CHEERS FROM NJ USA🇩🇪🇺🇸
I remember when it turned up at Luton uk . And had the pleasure of meeting mr Travolta and having coffee onboard .
So exciting watching john travolta
Whow! Travolta for President! Make our Airlines great again!
Every dog within 100 miles was howling!
*What a kickass surprise 😲 after landing seeing Capt. John Travolta walking out of the cabin!* 🤣👍
A gorgeous machine from a better, vanished time...
The machine that took us from propliners...
Met him in Bangor when he couldn’t get in to Owls Head. Nice guy!
I was lucky to tour the interior of JT's plane while it was getting a B check at Commercial Air at MIA. At the time I was a firefighter at MIA and after seeing it fly in numerous times finally got to go inside and check it out. Wood paneling walls, some mirrored and a stereo system on the headboard of the bed. Not as lavish inside as I thought it be. But a beautiful plane it is. Conserved very well.
United States Air Force Brigadier General/Bomber Pilot/Actor James Stewart would be very proud of him...and probably would be proud to fly with him... R.I.P.... Rock on Mr. Travolta.
Beautiful!
Here's a guy who really wanted to be a pilot! Luv the smoky, loud 707!
All the new breed of airliners are quieter and more efficient, however these old boys are so majestic!👍🇺🇸
Only those who lived it, flew on them, saw them by spotting them...get that!
@@Starboard76 Lots of time flying these, DC 8s( Stretch 8s included) and tons of hours on older KX135s!! Thx Again, Travolta is a wealthy/ lucky guy to own & fly this type of A/C!!!
I'm 38 years young this is my favorite aircraft.
Awesome video. So sorry for you and the loss of yourwife,Stay safe..
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Fantastic! ❤️
Godspeed, John!
I still remember when my parents jokingly told me that there was a dude who had a plane in his backyard. I figured out it was real a couple days later and it was him.
I saw him on Welcome Back Kotter. I saw him get more famous from Saturday Night Fever and Grease. I never DREAMED I would see him pilot a Boeing 707 and park the thing in his driveway!!!!!
Great airplane. To most people, it's a 707. To me (USAF, 1984-1992), it's a KC-135.
Dennis Roote ,As a KC crew chief 71-75. Hello
@@beercommercial1, you are correct 👍
Not just a commercial pilot, but a multi-typed ATP. That’s Airline Transport Pilot. Few people who are not professional full-time pilots have this rating.
JT does seem like a real down to earth guy. Good on him piloting his own aircraft. As well as a great actor obviously very intelligent. Well done 👍
Flying money pit. I flew a 757 into Lake City FL in 2003 for maintenance. This airplane was parked there. Our mechanic got us a tour of it. I flew Boeing's all over the world on other peoples money. I can't imagine even somebody as wealthy as JT pouring money into a personal 707 to keep it flying. He defiantly got to live his dream.
I'm sure the royalties income from all of his flicks covered all cost while leaving plenty of $$$ left over.
@@Starboard76 Most likely !!
Kevin 747 there’s an interview on RUclips where Travolta says that Quantas paid for the operational costs ($5M/year) for the advertising and promotional value the 707 brought to the airline. Travolta owned it, but others paid for it!!
@@bg104 Wow - What a deal! I'm going to contact the Mercedes Benz company and float that idea past them. . . . . .
@@bg104 let's hope not Quantas filing for bankruptcy because of this setup?
My dad flew B707 and even better, he was paid for that!
QANTAS .. Queensland And Northern Territory Air Service . Beautiful jet . We love ya John from down under !
……that’s a QANTAS Boeing 707-138B, first introduced to the fleet in 1958. This aircraft is now at the HARS Museum, Wollongong, NSW, Australia, after John donated it to there………
First jet I ever flew in 707. Great airplane!😊
And who would have guessed one of the "Sweathogs" would have his own Boeing 707 jet? lol. You go, Vinnie! lol.
can we take a moment to appreciate how fuel efficient and smokeless todays jet engines are
Tameem Agreed and it took this jet to get us there/here.
Gracias por el video de ese actor es un capo
Sweet!!!! As a boomer, flew PanAm 707’s for many years.
God Bless you John and your family
I'm a aircraft mechanic, love doing structural repairs.. would be cool to be the person that did the window frame repair on this bird for bragging rights.. always liked John and his way of life
You'd rarely be found away 'from' that aircraft were you in charge of it!
@@Starboard76 agreed.. I'd be guarding it telling people "don't touch it, don't even look at it" 😂🤣 I found pics of John's house and looked like this plane was parked in his driveway/ramp.. John's the coolest ever
I cant imagine how much it costs to operate
Fuel is so expensive that every gallon have to be enjoyed. That old 707 is perfect in every way!
He is probably still making money from the movie “Grease (1978)”.
Qantas was picking up most of the tab anyway...
It's advertising, so it actually making money regardless the cost.
some people buy a Prius or a Tesla.... then there’s people like John Freakin Travolta
his house sits in a private airport some where ...he has other planes right out his front door....like cars in your driveway.... ;-)
Yeah it's near Ocala, Fla. yeah he has 4 other jets with a Gulfstream V as the biggest in his fleet.
I can just see John now as he takes off going why it going like greased lightning
