Congratulations on your new car Don. I am happy for you. One thing, dont asume everyone that has things to say about chinese cars are tought themselves on the internet. I have worked 22 years in the automotive industry. Dont know much about this car more than that Mitchubichi is part of it. Only chinese car I ever had the opportunity to drive for an extended time was a Ssang Yong. A total piece of work if you ask me. Would never buy one. But this could work out for you. Reason your hood is heavy is there are no shocks holding it up for you, they also help lifting it. You have that metal stick there to hold it up should you have to go under the hood. It looks nice, reminds me of one of the newer Citroêns. Now you can take us out on tours outside of Manta. Looking forward.
Very happy for your my friend. Wishing you many years/miles of trouble-free driving. I'd like an update in a "while" please about the maintenance, plus your driving experiences.
Congratulations Don! I can imagine this has significantly changed your life for the better as you now have the freedom to move around the country easier.

The Donmobile! Niiiice. Hope you're enjoying that fresh car smell. I can still remember my first time driving in Manta. It sure did take some getting used to. That said, don't forget to look both ways before crossing any one-way street😁🤣
I think it is a sweet looking little ride, very sharp. My issue is the standard stick shift which I forgot how to drive since it has been over 30 years ago. 20K well spent!!
Good point! but I hadn't used a stick in about 50 years and I had no problems whatsoever. This car has a feature that locks the brakes on an incline so you don't roll while leaving a stop. It works great. I remember doing that in the old days with the parking brake (by hand) on my VW.
@@DonShader I was the danger boy, right foot heel on the brake toes on the gas. I still have and drive manual transmission the rare times I'm not on a motorcycle.
@@DonShader Don, I may have had one 🍺 too many tonight, but the Volkswagen beetle was my first car, love, and gateway drug to Manual transmission lol. It was a 76 semi-auto (clutchless) stick shift. Okay, so the moral of the story is that driving up or downhill was very easy. Oh, and don't drink and drive and don't drink and post on RUclips🤪.

Congratulations Don! The car looks very nice. Sort of a mix between the Nissan Rogue and the Murano. Did you pay cash? Lol.. wouldn’t be surprised! Playa San Mateo brought some (not nice) memories. Looking forward for new videos!
Lol. I actually enjoy driving in Ecuador. It’s like the one thing I do understand about some of the screwy processes there. The wife and I both agree that we will get a car when we make the move. Taxis are good, but the cost adds up. We will want the freedom.
For what I was paying for taxis, I can drive this car for less plus I don't have to worry about the hazards that come with riding in taxis, there are a LOT.
@@DonShader, my last trip, just a couple of weeks ago, we must have been paying an average of $6/day for taxis (not counting paying $50 each way to Salinas for Carnival). For 8 days, that’s near $50. Figure a monthly cost of near $200. The taxis have gotten more expensive over the years, especially after Covid.
Congrats on getting the car finally. I like it! I am a big fan of small SUVs like this. We have a couple of rogues and a CRV in the family. The engine cover is interesting... You have my luck - getting hit from behind right after buying it. The AC issue is definitely weird. I am done with white cars, though, I must say. That price is excellent. Would you consider doing a video on how insurance and accidents work in Ecuador. I have heard some odd tings about that. Need a report from a man on the scene.
Congratulations on your new sharp looking car ! For safety reasons happy to see you went with a car over a scooter or motorcycle. I am not familiar with the Soueast brand but as a car guy, would suggest to you as I would to a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai , Honda, Nissan etc. owner, with a TURBO CHARGED engine. Change the engine oil & oil filter twice as often as the factory schedule recommends. (If they say change the oil every 3000 miles do it every 1500 miles) On your very first oil change even sooner , change maybe within the first 1000 miles, to eliminate any possible machined particles from a brand new engine. If you decide to use an approved synthetic oil, such as Mobil 1, the intervals can be stretched but still more often than Soueast recommendation. I assume you will not be putting on a huge amount of miles per year , so just a minor added expense. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Enjoy your new wheels.....it should be a real Babe Magnet !🚙
You may be ok if you don't drive too much. But several taxi drivers in Guayaquil and Manta said they are temporary cars. They stick to Hyundai and Kia.. Sure looks nice though.
The good thing about living in Ecuador is that you don't need to get out of the car to put on the gas. All gas stations have people who put it on you. In the USA you always have to get out of the car. hehe! 👍👍
