Don, if I take my girlfriend out to dinner, am I supposed to reduce the amount of iva refund requested to only the tax charged on the food that I ordered for myself? The instructions say that all purchases for which a tax refund is requested must be for MY personal use or consumption. Is treating my girlfriend considered "my personal use or consumption?" Thanks. Same question if I buy her a box of candy and flowers for Valentines Day - are the gifts considered "my personal use or consumption?"

Don, 2016, Manta Ecuador 🇪🇨 had a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. It leveled Manta, injuring 2,000 people and killing over 700 people. Because almost every building was leveled or sustained earthquake damage, Manta is a new city! This speaks to the resiliency of the people of Manta and the people of Ecuador in general. But as earthquakes go, sir, it was a bad one that was followed up by many after shocks. Ironically, I am visiting Manta today and staying on the 9th floor of the Torre Oceana building. The vistas are beautiful if you like the waterfront. The locals are wonderful, and the food is excellent. But Manta is subject to tremors and earthquakes as is most of Ecuador. We had a tremor in Quito a few nights ago that made my bed sway. It's part of life in the second highest mountain range in the world in a country smaller than our state of Colorado that has four active 🌋 volcanoes. ¡Bienvenido a Ecuador 🇪🇨! We have tornadoes 🌪 in the United States, as well as, hurricanes. The west coast of the United States is subject to earthquakes, and particularly California. It's life.
