No matter what , Ecuador is a great place. There are always some negative people,which complain , no matter what.
There's so much good about Ecuador, the worst for me is what I brought with me. I am of European descent, which can be trouble in some situations, but I can't change that. The three most important things in life are, in order, water, shelter, food.
All three, in Ecuador, are excellent.

I got a chuckle from your remark "This too shall pass". My mom ( RIP ) used to tell me that all the time and I try to keep that attitude with me as well. My saying has been for years when someone asks me how I am is " I can't complain, at my age (70+) every day above ground and breathing is a blessing". ( And it truly is. ) Editing to add, You two are absolutely adorable together and I really hope you both do more of these "Chit Chats" together!

We are moving to Quito, primarily because of better healthcare facilities and infrastructure. The cooler weather is a side benefit.
I LOVED this video!! Don, “By Stella” is a keeper! Her spell keeps you grounded and the love shines through both of you! Stella is so right! This too shall pass! The situation in Ecuador is getting better thanks to a president and a government who is finally anti-terrorist and pro-Ecuadorian citizens! Finally people are seeing they don’t have to live or work out of fear of the gangs etc Just today they thwarted a murderous plot by an Asian young man who wrote a 100page manifesto plotting to shootout two elementary schools in Montgomery County, TX. His reasoning small children were easier targets! I agree things here are expensive. Hang in there and enjoy!

Stella is very charming! Maybe she can find you an apartment with a whole building backup generator when your lease is up. That apartment you were in was really nice with spectacular views.
Not afraid for safety in Manta. We are going to Cuenca for the parks and restaurants. We didn't move straight to Cuenca because we were worried about the altitude. We took some medicine before we took the bus and has very few symptoms. Buuuuuut. We moved from Phoenix and we found it too hot in Manta to walk everywhere. We ADORE Ecuador and have no plans on leaving.

Made me smile for the first time in days. Spent a year making sure that would never happen again to this house . Sold it for a ridiculous profit . Moved to Ecuador. Thanks flood and Skynyrd . It’s always nice to see you and Stella together doing a video. She makes it extra interesting. The apartment looks super nice and the view is great! That is my favorite motto, “This too shall pass”. We are looking forward to our upcoming move in June.

Which city does her daughter in law live in in Canada? What does Stella feel about the altitude issue in a place like Cuenca for the older demographic?
Everything I have heard from tour guides is that they can never predict who will have a problem with altitude, young or old... We took some medicine and had little issues ( looking up at the amazing buildings made me and my hubs light headed for example.

@@DonShaderMe too. I meant politically. It puts him into hot water to have invaded a diplomatic property. Glass wasn't going anywhere even if he stayed in the Mexican embassy. On the other hand Obrador made a huge mistake to accept him at the embassy. Glass is certainly no Julian Assange.

Three Veterans were talking about their experiences. The youngest complained, "My boots never fit right. They gave me blisters every time I had to walk very far."
The next oldest Veteran said, "At least you HAD BOOTS! When our first pair wore out we couldn't get another pair for months sometimes. If they were too far gone we had to patrol the jungle in bare feet!"
The oldest Veteran chimes in, "FEET! YOU HAD FEET?!"
I heard from a friend that part of the problem is that Colombia supplies part of the power to Ecuador and sided with Mexico after the embassy incident and have reduced the power to Ecuador.
We don't know if that's true or not. And probably never will.
