Fun fact: The space station 13 community refer to the events that followed the release of this video as the Ssethtide. Where there was a massive infuse of new players that didn't understand that the point of the game is roleplay not to win.
It's happened several times in the past. OneyNG played it a couple of years back and the same thing happened. One of the problems being that the engine the game was built on is already barely able to keep up with the amount of players that already play. Adding in potentially thousands more murders the servers. Also not all servers are about roleplay.
@@csmead209 and i would be one of those people. I think the increase in players has helped it to stay alive for much longer to come. And even get a bit more attention in other circles, what with the Steam remake/sequel of SS14. (Which honestly i think is just unity station codebase, but its opinion)
Sseth is an actual fucking genius. That lecture was something I had never expected out of him (mostly because I hadn't known he was a chemist), but was thoroughly impressed. It's called something like "cancer and numerology stream", for those who are interested in watching it. He's also did a great job at simplifying it for a layman, such as myself. I'd highly recommend it to those that are curious.
15:58 in case anybody doesn’t get this, a “bag of holding” is a magical item most commonly associated with dungeons and dragons. It’s basically a pouch with a pocket dimension inside of it that can be used to store items that wouldn’t normally fit in a bag that size. It’s basically a literal interpretation of the character who can seem to hold a shitload of stuff on their person without it being visible or encumbering them. The rule is that you’re NEVER supposed to put a bag of holding inside another bag of holding. In d&d, if you do this both bags will be effectively destroyed, with them and all of their contents being dumped into the astral realm through a portal that tears open once you place the bag inside of the other one. In this game, I guess it just opens a black hole lol
Actually they have since changed it to act more like D&D when you do that. It will create a huge tear in reality that will dump everything but the floor into some sort of purgatory, and most likely kill you in the process.
This game is wild and I love it, having played it for so long I feel like I'm not missing anything by not playing among us, and watching streams of it makes me a bit nostalgic.

Sseth has some of the most off-colour humour out there, and I have to say that I wouldn't have it any other way! It helps that Sseth doesn't really review games he doesn't like (unless he gets paid for it) and you can tell that he enjoys himself in these reviews.
It also helps that he's honest about the games he loves having massive problems that can turn people off, and he doesn't judge people for not wanting to put up with that kind of shit.
I tried to get into Space Station 13 after Sseth originally posted this video, but it's suuuuuuuuuuuper complicated. Like, you have to study and memorize an entire Wiki, like you were cramming for college finals. People generally don't welcome newcomers either, so learning is difficult. Sseth's stories are always amusing though.
It's HIGHLY station-dependent. Some stations are amazing for newcomers and even have a mentor system. On the whole, as long as you aren't being a shitter or a tider, most servers are welcoming to new players.
In a recent round, someone replaced the AIs standard 3-rule asmiov lawset with twenty-one custom ones. Including the outlawing and legalization of ham, forcing the AI into voyeurism for ERP, forcing the AI to appreciate anime and end every name in "-chan" and some others. The AI is played by a human, who has to follow every single law or risk a jobban for breaking character. (An AI Player must follow their Laws and only those)
I still remember dial-up. I was around in 2003, and as someone who has been playing SS13 for years not even I knew about it back then. It used to be a dinky little atmospherics game, has grown a lot. Very closely associated with 4chan culture.
