One of my greatest chess brags is that as a 10 y/o tournament player (rating maybe 1600ish) in the 90s, I would almost always sacrifice the knight in the opening if it forced the black King to take. I knew my opponents never knew what to do, and being down 3 points in material meant literally nothing because they could never stabilize the position or fully develop even half of their pieces. Seeing this "alien gambit" now as an adult who sucks at chess kind of makes me proud, because I know I've accidentally played this opening as a kid. But that's enough ego stroking for one day.. thx for the uploads Gotham. I'm rediscovering chess as an adult and loving every minute of it!

Well, I ran into an opponent that played a Caro Kann defense and decided to try this Alien opening. Here's what my game looked like:
    1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Bf5 5. Ng5 Qa5+ 6. c3 Nd7 7. Nxf7 Kxf7 8. Nf3 Bg4 9. Bc4+ Ke8 10. O-O Ngf6 11. Re1 c5 12. h3 Bxh3 13. gxh3 cxd4 14. cxd4 Rd815. Ng5 Nc5 16. My opponent resigned after the last move. Mind that we are both 800 rated players (although in some of my reviews recently, the engine says that I've been playing as a 1100-1300 which shows I've improved).
The alien did work indeed, but I had a few misses (instead of 9. Bc4+, top engine move was Qb3+), and had a faster way of check-mate in the end that I also missed. Thanks for this out-of-this-World (hehe) opening, Levy!

I’m brand new to chess, only 2 games with my mom I’ve played. This opening is absolutely wild. To force your opponent to fumble being able to castle within 10 opening moves is so critical. This channel is awesome. God bless you whoever reads this.

After 5 months of seeing this opening fairly frequently (thanks to Gotham), I probably beat it 90% of the time now, and when I lose, its often on time.
It forces me to slow down and think, making me burn time, but as long as I manage my time well, it's very beatable.
Manually castle, methodically trade pieces down, win the endgame with a piece up.

I'm an 800 Elo player and used the motif of sacrificing the Knight on f7 to bring out the King and attack him after watching your video. My opponent didn't play a Caro-Kann (it was a St George) but I managed to checkmate him in 18 moves. He was the highest Elo player I've beaten (nearly 1300). Thanks, it's a fun way to play.
Edit - Oh also got my first "brilliant" for sacrificing the Knight.
