That is one of the reasons why we need to live forever! So we can use all the fabric and make all the quilts 😊
Right!? I’m planning on it
I think it’s nice to not feel guilty of enjoying our craft whatever it may be from one day to the next. I have several projects of different types going and it gives me the opportunity to pick up one whichever I’m in the mood to work on and enjoy “my quiet time”. I find it to be very therapeutic and I refuse to be stressed and worry about what I enjoy. I try to make gifts as I can and sometimes I just make things for myself to enjoy;)
Thanks for another wonderful video
So true!
Your hair looks great!!!! Love those new 16 blocks!!!
BEAUTIFUL robin fabric!
Wow!!! His quilt is amazing!
Good morning. I like your tutorials and your chats. I think your hair looks great. I know how the humidity causes the fuzziness. ❤
Thank you so much!
I think we call these "squirrels ". I believe they stimulate our creativity, so let's not feel guilty. As long as we get some projects to done. Happy Monday to all. Thank you for video.
Great point!
Looking forward to this week’s blocks!
Awww…your hair always looks cute…lol weather fuzzes mine up too! Love your 16 patches..cute!
Thank you! 🤗
Please forgive the long comment but you are hitting on all the greatest hits today for me! I too am working on a 2-1/2 inch "scrap squares" project which is something I have long wanted to try. Although I do also love Emily's Teribly Rad videos (particularly her 3 Yard Quilt ones) mine was inspired (as you were originally) by Pat Sloan. Mine is in Christmas fabrics and I will be inserting panel print squares into it. I started collecting the scrap squares and sewing them into pairs while making a "Christmas in July" project for a "Letters To Santa" quilt which was inspired by the MODA QAL from back in 2022.
Right there with you with the Jelly Roll Rug plans. I finally got mine started earlier this year (after dreaming and stashing for one for about three years). However, I ran into problems sewing the finished tubes together to start the actual rug so that one is taking a break for now. Although just yesterday I realized that changing to using another sewing machine might solve the problem I was having. I can also so relate to picking up a "Dreami" project from something you see on You Tube (Dreami = Drop Everything And Make It as coined by mmmquilts). Wanting to do a Jelly Roll Rug was definitely a result of that!
I am also hoping to do Pat Sloan's National Parks Block Wednesday in September. You are ahead of me though -- I still need to source my fabrics and am planning to stash some of the Riley Blake National Park series prints. My husband and I started visiting National Parks in the last few years so this one is special to me.
Lastly, getting better at dealing with wanting to "do all the projects" has become my quilting focus these past few months (although Pat Sloan is definitely my Kryptonite there, LOL!!). I don't feel guilty about it but I realize that I also really have accumulated too many WIPS and UFOs because of diverting to too many "Dreamis". Unfortunately the resultant project clutter starts to impinge on or worse, depress the urge to actually sit down to work on them! A timely finish usually can cure that so trying to set myself up to insure one is how I am trying to structure and focus my quilting time going forward.
Okay signing off now and finally subscribed!
We definitely think alike 😃👍🏻
Washed dishes while listening...and watching. You have got us covered! Ty👍🩷 I also think your hair looks good but now im curious to see it curly 😀. ❤ all your projects and though im not a big bargello fan I appreciated hearing the history. ❤learning!
Yes! Thank you!
Your heart blocks look great!!!!
Thanks for the Monday wake-up. I admire your ability to be optimistic with a sense of humor about your own limitations. I’m right there with you in Powderly KY. Sew on.
Thank you! 🤗
Love your thinking!! Sometimes I just need to get an idea out of my system and sometimes I cave and start a new project that I’ve seen online🤪
I know right?! It just keeps yelling my name 😅
U should watch Kate Jackson from The Last Homely House East Of The Sea. She does all kinds of quilting and has a 16 patch quilt on her bed. I think u would enjoy her. She's English. Super nice person like u. Sister in faith me that is.
I do watch her. She didn’t have a video yesterday 🤔
Love the purple fabrics. Bear Creek Quilting has great fabrics and great sales. Had to pass up on the last big sale as budget didn’t allow. 😢
Love the lilac hearts💜. I can see how you're gravitating towards the 16 patches... the colors are so pretty. Great bargain on the 10-1/2" strips... who could pass up a deal like that!😂
I just subscribed to terriblyrad channel. It looks like I will like her channel
Oh good! Her style is quite a bit different from mine, but I enjoy how others do things differently.
Thanks for your chat. Hope you have a blessed and
productive day.
I've got in the habit of making 16sq block out of my left over jelly strips and the smaller bits I cut into 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 strips for potato chip blocks via Lea Louise.
So much fun! And so easy!
Many years ago I covered a footstool that my father made me using a bargello needlepoint pattern.
Oh cool!
Gorgeous fabric!
Thank you! 😊
Yes I will join you for the jelly roll rug been wanting to do that for a while now
How funny! My hair is the opposite! Mine is absolutely straight and I have to use a curling Iron. When the weather is like you described all the curls I worked so hard on they all fall out!! Oh I love those blocks you are making.
Morning from Spokane Wa.
Bear Creek Quilting company is my go to. Nice place to work with and fabric sales are good.
I have been doing several of their quilt alongside.
I'm also working on our quilt along, but instead of the red, I replaced it with purples. I didn't want it to bleed. See ya Wed.
Purple will look great!
Excited to see what you make with the Bear Creek 10 1/2" strips. Love that site.
I am too! Because I have no idea 😆
Yep I just started another quilt this weekend. A bow tie quilt. Blocks finish at 3". The quilt will be 90x90! I could have worked on one of the many UFO's but that's not as much fun! I'm north of you just below Indy. We had the same weather. Sunny and rainy. It dump large amounts of rain in short bursts. Crazy weather!
That is awesome!
I use the 2 1/2” pieces as my leader and enders also.
I’ve never been able to get myself to do that.
I watched your video called amazing facing it was awesome. I have four baby. I think I will do that too. It seems simpler for me. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I am doing a collage quilt and all I have to do is the Swan and wait til the Peacock becomes available. I am so excited to get this quilt done.
Sounds amazing!
Well you have got me wanting to do 16 patches. Good go to.
I have labeled all my fabric that is not it a project planned bag or project box is not my stash / scrap. I need to use it or donate it. I will never outlive that fabric.
Go for it!
❤
Have you ever thought about using the panel and any leftover fabrics from your project to piece a backing? I acknowledge the piecing can be a pain but it's a good way to use up any scraps from your project. ❤
Yes, I do sometimes. Although with a panel, sometimes it’s hard to get it exactly in the middle for longarm quilting, because an extra few inches have to be added beyond the pieced part of the backing. Not impossible, just more of a challenge.
I have finished A and B blocks and planning on starting Cand D.
You’re moving right along 👍🏻
Would love to do a rug with you. It’s been on my to do list 😊!
Might be in the near future , after the sew along 😉
I will have to play catch up. I am still waiting on my magazine to get here.
Oh no! I hope it comes soon. No worries, you can catch up
Others are guessing Folk & Lore will be the fabric in Aug Sew sampler box. Ya might have even more options and great ideas
Right, I should have an abundance!
That panel matches your shirt.
Ha! I didn’t notice 😅
Your coordinated block that you showed at the beginning of the video, can become a lap quilt for a wheelchair user, 3by4 feet is a good size usually,
Good idea!
I did a needlepoint bargello (spelling?) -it was fun as well as challenging!
I have yet to make anything bargello. I’d like to try it!
Pillows from the panel.
I love the lilac hearts. I am a more patchwork person and thought about getting that pattern and doing like a crazy patchwork for the hearts. What do you think?
That would be adorable! 🩵❤️🧡💚💜
Hope I’m still on .
The Cat block you have hanging up is so cute. Was this a pattern?

Hi Sheri sorry to bother you but I have a question regarding the foot pedal for your jazz 2 , is it super sensitive? Or do a it easy to control the speed? I’m leaning towards getting one but with having neuropathy I’m concerned that the machine will take off with the slightest touch. Can u please give me your honest opinion on this thank you also what is the brother machine that you have?
I will honestly tell you that it is very sensitive and took me a while to learn how to control it. There’s not a speed control on the machine since it’s only mechanical and not computerized. Some people put a block or something under it to keep it from taking off too fast.
I’ve tried to get the magazine for the sew along. I get to the final payment and it won’t accept it.

Could you post the name of that book you got the pattern from
