With less than a sentence from him, I believed in God; my life was changed forever; I became a Muslim, and followed I'm in becoming a disciple of HIS master, Frithjof Schuon. Now I'm 81 and he must be 87. I see a treasure chest, full of knowledge AND wisdom. He gave me a Real Life, an entry into Truth: therefore, I would forgive absolutely anything, and be grateful forever. It is still ESSENTIAL for all those who admire him, as do I, to realize that he is one of the two main successors of Frithjof Schuon; and he is he only disciple of HIS master, whose actual life was affected by his master. This is exceedingly delicate; but it is necessary to understand Frithjof Schuon and the relationship between the two men, to situate the great Dr. Nasr correctly. Moereover, everyone seeking Truth, needs to understand a spiritual mystery which is in the life and doctrines of Frithjof Schuon. It is such a blessing to have so many of these interviews/dissertations by Prof. Nasr; the only "pernnialist" who had the time and interest to speak in public. I wish Schuon did it in his French language and not in English, a language that he did not master to a level required by that kind of subjects.
Next time you see him, please ask him why he says his daily prayers in Arabic. Doesn’t Allah understand English? Why Allah communicated with Muhammad in Arabic via Arch Angel Gabriel? God being omnipotent could have , of course, communicated with him directly. Mr. Nasr also seems to have access to the minds of the populations in “Islamic” countries, to call all of them Muslims. Finally ask him about the honorific Seyyed he uses. How does he know he is descendant of the profit? FYI Mr. Nasr’s grandfather, whom he is proud of, was a fundamentalist cleric who fought against the constitutionalists in 1906, because he believed Islam was not a religion of equality. He supported slavery, forbidding education for women, etc. He was later condemned to death and was hung.

Allah (swt) understands and knows every soul thoughts and Allah has given every human a distinct entity and free will that means you can think, Work, enjoy whatever you wants but there is a limit that Allah (swt) has kept for you. Think, you can't be a president surely in your country. That is your limitation. Read Quran by understanding every verse you will certainly be astonished knowing that what Science has discovered so far are compatible with quran which is revealed more than 1400 years ago. If you have the least knowledge of Islam, you know that boys are regarded mature at the age of 15. Not that you cannot be a muslim before that, but it is 15 years for males and 9 years of age for females which are regarded as mature to select a path. But Ali a.s. is the first male who accepted the religion introduced by prophet Muhammad.
The main question is whether your God is able to create a stone so big that he can't move it. Whatever your answer is, it shows to you that God is neither Almighty nor perfect. If you need to pray to something calling himself allmighty, and yet is either unable to do something, or unable to do slmething with what he has done, be my guest, but surrendering to something like that? WTF?
It would be impossible to surrender to such a being, you are right; a God who is defectuous, who has lacknesses. Our heart simply cannot worship a defectuous being, an incomplete being, only the absolute perfection would have that capacity of attraction. The response to that famous equation is the will of God doesn't attache itself to something not wise. The Power of God, His Creativity goes always along with His Wisdom in designing the world. And so, His Power is never used in designing and creating meaningless things. His Creative power always goes along with His wisdom. Otherwise, there would be no balance in the Universe. There's a need of gravity, of precise physical laws, etc.

First of all that's just a silly trick question. God is the most rationale being and I don't know what purpose moving a big stone has. But to answer it nonetheless, he could create a stone which he wouldn't be able to move. But then he could also be able to undo it and move it if he willed it. If he willed it, he would create it and not be able to move it, and if willed he would then be able to move it. So there you go...

It is philosophically about ability. If you believe in almighty, you mean that God's power is not limited by tasks, no matter how self-contradictory they are. The example contradicts the concept of almighty God. By your kind of answer, everyone can declare themself as almighty as well, simply by answering all challenges to their might by their lack of willingness.

If not, then no such rock can exist, not due to the inability, but because it defies logic. I completely understand the question, as your trying to ask, can God do something he is incapable of doing. If God is capable of being incapable, it means that He is incapable, because He has the potential to not be able to do something. Conversely, if God is incapable of being incapable, then the two inabilities cancel each other out, making God have the capability to do something. And yet there is still other ways to address your query, and that is, can God do something outside of his nature, considering his nature is that of the highest stature? For example if it's impossible for God to lie, then can he lie? if he did, then he wouldn't have the nature of God. And so the rock complex can also be addressed in this manner... it's self contradictory to God. Now to sum it up, you can consider the paradox answer in any or all angles of either is there anything bigger than infinity, the inabilities of incapability being cancelled out or self contradiction of the God stature...
This interviewer is a representation of the ignorance that pervades much of the American population in regards to Islam...it's quite scary. Nasr's explanation is excellent, but much of this stuff should be basic basic knowledge.
