    The 1st time I saw that DTC, it was caused by a torn O-ring on the pickup tube. That was back in 2011 and I haven't seen that since. I have probably replaced 100 of those pumps and I never thought to open one up. Good video, I thought I had an understanding of how that pump works. Now I certainly do.
    Another thing, the description for that DTC confuses me. If that solenoid were actually stuck off, the oil pressure would be too high at idle and under 3000 rpms. I know they say that the stuck off diagnostic is actually checking for a stuck on condition and vice versa. I just can't understand why they did that

      YEAH CODE DESCRIPTIONS CAN BE FUNNY . ALSO TROUBLE CHARTS CAN BE WRONG . THE HARD PART IS UNDERSTANDING THE TECHNOLOGY ENOUGH TO CATCH ERRORS SO CUSTOMERS WALLET IS TAKEN CARE OF .

    Hi from Australia, we had a 2013 JK with one of these faults and the solenoid was dead. Replaced the pump and that fixed the problem, but after about 10 months car returned with the same issue. Tested all wiring and solenoid resisuance okay, filter is vorrect, oil kevel us correct, monitored oil pressure on witech and verified pcm activating and deactivating the solenoid. All pressures and other results are perfectly fine, but fault still happens intermittently. We installed another pump and like 1000 km and 1 month all was good, but today car is back with the same fault. 2 hours verifing all again and even comoared to a 2011 Grand Cherokee getting the same oressure readings. Suspect a PCM issue

    Correct me if I’m wrong, what I understood was bad solenoid would equal high oil pressure all the time? I seen another video that was contradicting. My code reader is telling me “Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck Off” I was initially thinking to replace the solenoid before the entire pump. Thoughts?

      Replace the entire pump with dealer pump but beware there could be other issues . Don’t recommend just the solenoid . This is just my opinion .

    On mine the O ring on the oil filter adapter cap was bad, it was leaking oil. I replaced the O ring and problem solved.

    So would you say that when the code comes up that the oil pump is mechanically ok but the solenoid is the culprit

    • @ocdauto8794
      @ocdauto8794  Год назад

      Seems to be that . The guts seem to not be worn on this pump in the video that caused p06dd. There is heavy carbon build up in solenoid . Inside the solenoids check ball is buildup . That buildup causes incorrect psi change . Bg chemicals makes an engine flush that may help . Never tried it . Use at own risk .

    was there a noise on this car? my pentastar makes a strange noise when idling at times. Replaced most of my pulleys, thinking it was linked to a slight wobble on the Harmonic Balancer (which I think killed my alternator)

    Mine was failing to energize so high oil pressure all the time, which i was fine with, but my wife complained her remote start wouldn't work anymore so i'm in the process of replacing just the solenoid. Old one had a very loose connector on the solenoid body. new solenoid is tight. it was setting code p06da i think. Absolutely stupid idea to put an electrical solenoid in a hot oil bath. it was bound to fail.

    I have 2014 3.6 chrysler 300, this code only pops on start of engine (Oil pressure on start - 3.3 bars) then after 30 seconds pressure goes up to 5.8 bars. After i delete error code and start vehicle again pressure is 5.8 bars till engine gets working temperature and idle pressure stabilize at 2.8 - 3 bars, when i rev up to over 3500rpm pressure goea up to 6 bars, when revs drop to idle pressure is 2.8-3 bars each pressure is checked by gauge mounted on special Oil filter cap. So in my opinion pressure regulation is working, when code is deleted this never show up until next day when Oil is cold and new start. i wonder why on first start pressure is at 3.3 bars and after short while it goes up, some body had similar problem? How to repair it? Ive changed filter housing with oil cooler and temp and pressure sensor.

      One thing about engines is oil prime loss . Cars have oil drain back technology usually part of oil filter or housing . If it sets on cold start I wonder if you have an oil drain back issue ?

      @@ocdauto8794 i did not notice that problem, oil pressure shows instantly after start and always around 3,3 bars (45psi), there is no time with extremly low pressure. One thing i forgot is that when outside is above 20 deegres celcius there is no problem with that what i describe,

      One huge flaw with many trouble codes on dodge cars is the poor freeze frame data . They do not list the desired vs actual oil pressure in the freeze frame . Without that info in freeze frame you are left guessing as to why code set .

      @@ocdauto8794 yeah i noticed that.. Only P06DD code and "test not complete engine light requested" i heard something about flashing with new pcm software may solve the problem, because technical book says that oil pump must be replaced but its giving good pressures and switches beetwen low and high stage. This thing is driving me nuts.
