  • In this video from LearnElectrics we will look at an important subject for 18th Edition exams.
    Expect several questions on Zs and the associated calculations which can account for up to 10% of the exam questions. Understand how to find Zs values, how to make the easy calculations, and you are improving your exam score question by question.
    We are using the Brown Wiring regulations book. BS7671 2018 Amendment 2:2022
    When looking at Zs numbers, many learners will ask …
    Where do they come from?
    What is the start of the process?
    Why are there so many things to do to a Zs number?
    What is the 80% rule?
    Why is the On-Site Guide different to the Wiring Regulations Book?
    If you can understand the reasons and the processes, if they are clear in your mind, then you will improve your knowledge and skills in preparation for your 18th edition exam.
    Learn how to find your way around the Wiring Regulations book and understand the method to follow that will lead quickly and effortlessly to the right answers.

    Hi Dave, great video but I got CONFUSED by your stating that a LESS THAN () symbol:- To me it looks as if you got a bit mixed up there on that particular point??? (Go from the 4.14 segment in your video, up to the 4.30 mark, and you should be able to see what I mean, and then be able to tell me if I am correct to be confused by this or not?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  4 месяца назад

      The video is correct Gary. The symbol you refer to shows that it is less than on the left side and greater than on the right side.

    Hi, new subscriber here.
    Could I ask , is there update course available from the ‘Blue’ book to the ‘brown’ book . Or do you have to take the full course now. Thanks

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  4 месяца назад +1

      There is no update exam. BUT ... if you already have 18th Edition on the Blue Book, you do not need to re-sit the exam for the Amendment 2 Brown Book. It is assumed by the exam body that your knowledge of the blue book can be easily transferred to the brown book changes. One good way to "catch up" is to watch the videos we made, as here.
      Hope this helps, no re-sit needed. Dave.

    Another top video, thankyou.
    Can I just ask then in reference to this when completing a certificate and it asks for the tabulated max Zs before your actual test reading, I’m assuming they want the max reading from the tables in 7671 and not the tables in the OSG?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  29 дней назад +1

      Yes, tabulated is out of the Wiring Regs book.
      However I always write 80% in the top of column 12 on the schedule of circuit details, then write in the maximum permitted according to the OSG. That way, when I complete column 27 on schedule of test results, I can make a direct comparison. Anyone that knows what's-what when reading my paperwork will know what I have done. Hope this makes sense. This way you are not misleading anybody. Dave.

      @@learnelectrics4402 thanks Dave I was taught to think that when tabulated is stated that it was in reference to any information in a table but obviously the info in the OSG is in a table hence my confusion as to which tabulated information the certificate required. In any case you have confirmed it’s 7671 table we are referring to 👍🏼
