I think this is like the other perspective. In the normal version Marina tell us the story of a girl who is breaking the rules and is being bad-influenced by a rude boy. She is the dominant part of the relationship, though.
In this version it's like she doesn't have the power of the relationship at all and she only sing something that is not real. She wants power but in reality she is destroyed by the breakup.
YES, ive the same sensation even in the original version, but in the acoustic the idea is so much clear.

I think this version is still the heartbreaker. But the original is romanticising that lifestyle whereas this version is the reality.

This song takes on an entire different meaning when acoustic...
Read between the lines, it means that Marina's level of creativity sets a whole new standard than other acoustic songs. She puts depth and alters the song with her amazing voice.

You know how Marina has synaesthesia? Could that contribute (somehow) to her originality, use of range and just being amazing?
(Synaesthesia btw is a condition [not sure what to call it] that makes certain people see numbers and letters in different colours)
I wouldn't doubt it. My best friend also has synaesthesia, and she is a very creative and artistic person. And let me tell you, synaesthesia is so strange! She explains how she sees numbers and letters to me and I just stare in confusion. Like, her favorite number is 4 because she sees it as a lovely lavender color? I'll never understand it, but it is pretty cool haha

It absolutley is a real thing. I have it, it makes life really interesting. I see colour for numbers, and my perspective is intertwined with sound. I can almost see music, in a different colourful way. So ues, it is a real thing 100%

Six years later, and now I get sad listening to these songs.
i loved froot era and now i'm absolutely in love with the love + fear era, but electra heart just hits differently, i'll be forever missing it but also extremely proud of marina and how far she's going :)
also i think i miss electra heart so much bc thats when i first met marina and life was so different back then
this is one of those songs that when you listen to the album version you jump and rock out but when you listen to the acoustic version you sit and cry

I know it's an acoustic version but for me it's like a different song full of pain, sadness, sorrow, vulnerality, hopelessness, anguish... you can feel in Marina's voice she is broken and is so sad and heartbroken but also beautiful and human and I feel in the same way too. That is the reason why Marina is my favorite singer, her talent is infinite.

Tbh although this version is good and fresh I think the original version expressed the song in a better way. The original had the heavy overwhelming vibe going on which matched the lyrics (e.g. ready for a meltdown). This version sounds more raw, expressive, and vulnerable, which Electra was not. This song felt more shallow to me because it laid everything on the table, lacking the subtlety of "I'm dying inside but heck I'll drink anyway".
I enjoyed both songs though. It's amazing how Marina provided another perspective of a song with just an acoustic version.
the thing about Electra heart is that the songs
don't represent her as a whole - it's her archetypes that are represented. this represents one of the more vulnerable archetypes - Teen Idle. Scared of love, ruined and stuck in her youth.
Stephen Trash I like your view, but I don't actually see Electra Heart as a multifaceted "person". I view Electra Heart as a false exterior, a lie which the person ideally wanted to live, but found she could not. I saw the original Radioactive as the part where she was discovering the part of herself which would eventually become Electra Heart (hence wig, makeup and flashes of Marina changing her appearance to not look like herself etc.). I think this song would be something that would be quietly playing at the back of the character's head which even she herself could not hear, or a few years down when she reflects on her Electra Heart phase. But it's not really representative of Electra Heart's personality.
