I'm a composer and orchestrator, and I'll be honest: I hardly ever include the trumpet in my music, even for orchestral works. Most of its comfortable range is also fairly doable on the horn, and I prefer the mellower sound of the horn generally, so the trumpet usually seems kind of vestigial in my mind, except as an alternate tone color. These covers are softening that view. Bravo.
The trumpet is very nice in context for its bright sound, especially in a piece like this, but the trumpet, when taken from the wrong approach, by the player, can become overpowering and poor in tone, which just kinda sux sometimes.
SOMETHING HAS BEEN AWAKENED IN MY HEART. THAT FEELING IS MY DREAMWORKS CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA. I AM LEGIT CRYING TEARS OF PURE JOY. THANK YOU MARC. PLEASE KEEP IT UP
Ugh I actually dont want to watch this.. because the music and the movie is an instant tearjerker for me 😭 it's just an underrated classic. But if it's Marc i know it's gonna be so good. Ah well, let me grab some tissue first..
Okay first, every child (and, frankly, adult) needs to watch this movie at least once in their lifetime. It's a masterpiece and needs to be experienced. Second, the french horn just sounds so heavenly. Thanks for this Marc, it was beautiful.
Quotenwagnerianer we know that not everything in the Bible is just stories. You can’t say Jesus getting crucified by the Jews and Roman Empire is just a story.
@@Quotenwagnerianer I think a big difference between Greek myth and the Bible is that their god impregnated children and our God sacrificed his only son so that the world could be redeemed in his blood
Something that helped me is working on low longtones. it's fast air and embouchure control. pick the lowest note you can play, and hold it for as long as you can. go a half step up, repeat. then start trying to transition between the low notes using a single breath and keeping them as connected as possible. then start doing single breath lip slurs. its all about the control
This has always been one of my favourite Dreamwork productions! The concept of all of those things happening solely by the hands of God is amazing to me, and I wasn’t even a “real” Christian until last year 🙌🏻 (maybe an unpopular opinion) but I prefer Deliver Us and The Plagues over When You Believe any day. Not forgetting The Burning Bush, of course
OMWORD The stop to listen out of the blue was real! I had a double horn stolen from me in college and this truly made me profoundly upset, and it was 10 years ago! Thank you thank you for your video because it has made my son who is 11, decide on the horn in band!
I was taken to see the Prince of Egypt, live in London (Dominion Theatre) 10 weeks ago, by a dear friend. Thank you for this rendition, it was beautiful.
This movie is just soooo good!! I thought that when I saw when it first came out and 20+ years later it’s even more validated. But hey didn’t have to go this hard on this soundtrack, but they did it for us and we need to thank them for that
Thank you!!!! 🙌🏻 this is so relatable to everything that’s happening right now and during Passover and His resurrection. Deliver us God from this world!
My 9yr old just started learning French Horn about 3mo ago and your videos have been an inspiration to her! She said she wants to play and sound like you. Simply beautiful! Thank you for the amazing videos showcasing your wonderful talent!
It quite high dude. Normally people plays until “high” G and A. Well, professionals doesn’t have a hard time hitting high C and D with softer volume(not blast). Much respect!!
Caitlyn, that C is high but not terrible for a professional player (in case you ever write/arrange anything for horn). It would probably be considered high for most hornists at a pre-university level. Most of the standard solo literature regularly goes up to the Bb a half step below that (the Mozart Concerti come to mind, as well as stuff like Strauss, Glazunov, etc...). The big horn solo from Wagner's Siegfried ends on that C, for example, so it's very much expected that professional hornists can play in that register with confidence and reliability. There's a lot of modern orchestral lit where the 1st horn is going up to the Eb or E above that (Symphonia Domestica by Strauss is one example). There are a few pieces that go even higher, but they are few and far between. Horn has a pretty wide range overall ~4 full octaves for professional players, so we need to read both treble and bass clef.
20 years worth of nostalgia just came rushing back after watching this video. I have to be honest here, I did shed some tears because of how amazing the trumpet and french horn turned out to be great accompaniments to the music. Great job playing!
This makes me want to go back to playing trumpet in band. I was usually first or second chair, but I left after moving schools for what felt like the hundredth time. Your beautiful rendition of this song makes me close my eyes and remember how good it felt to play my trumpet.
0:45 that part....is beautiful i grew up watching this movie thinking nothing of the music till now, you made the beginning sound so sad yet beautiful at the same time 🥺💕
I highly recommend these works to others. Marc has great ways of arranging to keep the hard, just a bit less so to read, while keeping the pieces at the cinematic level. Sad you left out the horn solo to the high C at the beginning of your transcription. It's what made my son fall in love with the piece. It's no big deal, he has those 8 bars memorized, lol. A nice cut of the chariot race BTW. My daughter plays trumpet (9yr old) and son horn (11 yr old). They love your work! Thanks for keeping them challenged. My oldest plays Euphonium (17yr old) and played both the trumpet and horn parts (whichever has lead) on a chariot from your sheet music, which got the younger kids interested.

Prince of Egypt is truly a forgotten masterpiece
Not as long as we remember it
It absolutely was not considered as famous as it should have been.
Forgotten by whom?
My whole family loves the film. So I never really thought that to some it is considered forgotten. It makes me sad. God. I luv this film💖💖.
As a Jewish Israeli I can assure you it is most certainly not forgotten. (and never will be)
That beginning though! Wow Wow Wow.

Agreed even if you aren’t religious this move is worth every penny
You know a trumpet player is clean when his A-D-A sounds that good
My favorite movie of all time. My favorite part is the Red Sea crossing.

Horns having decent tone and intonation on a high c is the equivalent of a flute section tuning to high f while running
