Medvedev is like a mini combination of both Djokovic and Nadal. He can be a wall when he wants to, and he has incredible fighting spirit and refuses to give up. I'm sure we'll see more of him in the future :)
@italkcrab He is incredibly hard to read too. He swings his racket in a kinda unorthodox way so he doesn't need extreme speed to hit winners. His opponent is just too late to respond because he doesn't know which way the ball goes.
There is no best. At the moment , yes , its Medvedev but other players like Tsitsipas , Thiem and Auger-Aliassime have shown great stuff this year. And this shows how in tennis, a player can go from buttom to top and then back to button.
Wolfgang Wiesinger that seems like a load of shit relating your idea to “tall players”. There are hundreds of players who make it near the top for a bit and then decline. Not sure what height has to do with it

This loss to Nadal bring in him a NEW FIRE. He will catch many slams soon. He experienced already with all top guns in big tornaments. Now time to collect trophies. LET HIM TAKE CARE OF HIS HEALTH. NEW( SAFIN + DJO)
Truth Seeker how is he cold as ice...? Sure he had the slip up earlier in the tournament, but he apologized and it didn’t happen again. He’s just very composed on-court. He was smiling a lot when shaking hands w rafa post-match and smiling a lot during the ceremony.
If Federer is poetry in motion, then Nadal is the most Epic Literature Saga in motion. So much will, determination, skill, soul, perseverance. His a true hero. Royal color of purple suits him well too as he is the KING! GOAT! VAMOS!
Well this years US Open certainly saved the best for last, what an absolute epic that was. So much tension, drama, excitement and so many amazing rallies. Both players showed fantastic heart and determination, Medvedev fighting back from 2 sets down and almost coming back from a double break down in the 5th, and Nadal saving break points when he was under real pressure at the start of the 5th and then again especially in the final game when he'd missed 2 match points in the previous game. Medvedev will be a future grand slam winner, no doubt. As for Rafa 19 slams now, truly phenomenal stuff and yet again showing his incredible fighting spirit, how many times have we seen it?! Thank you to both players for what will definitely go down as an all time classic final.

Back in the day there were quite a few channels around that made 10-30 minute highlights that not only showed the most exciting points but also captured the flow of momentum such that the narrative of the whole match was distilled into a 10-30 minute video. Can't find any of those anymore. At least AO and Wimbledon release some full matches.

cacao1384 it will be medvedev and tsisipas I think. Kyrgios would be good if he got his act together and zverev as you said is too inconsistent and fails in slams
I think Daniil was able to learn from the previous loss and tried all things he could in the first two sets. He found something that worked in the 3rd set. It is interesting how tennis is not less complex than chess:)
just 3 men winning the last 12 majors 5 for rafa 4 for novak n 3 for roger federer while we see a new ladies champion every time 10 ladies winning the last 12..thanx to the big three for such dominance n great display but beware daniil is coming behind u
That's how you play your first Grand Slam Final. Well done Medvedev. Also, I think Medvedev is the only player who doesn't just play one good match and then gets exposed and crushed in the next. He has been so consistent this summer, especially. Obviously, facing Rafa was tough but he showed his mettle to push him to the brink. Congrats to Rafa for his 19th Slam, just one shy of the record. Its getting exciting now. The Aus Open 2020 will be epic, surely.
That's what we say for a while now. When one guy won a Masters, we say this guy is it. Then another guy made it a semifinal and we say this guy is for real. Then another guy made it to final of a slam, we say this guy has no limit. Then the same guy made it to a second final of a slam and we say that guy has it all. Now another guy made to another final and played out of this world, and we again say he will win multiple majors. I think next year, we will still be saying the same.
Totally agree with you but no doubt he put on a good fight today. Can’t wait to find out if he’s just a one year wonder or the future of tennis after the big three.
Digita Digita what other guy has a record like Daniils this year? also not every year your "other guys" make 4 finals straight. And he was very close yesterday. So, like John McEnroe said, we'll see Daniil in the future, with at least 6-7 GS titles

Congratulations to Rafans. We've been talking about injury prone Rafa for the past ten years, and still he's always there on top or close to it. What a fighter! As a Novak fan I'm sad to say that this victory makes Rafa the main favourite for the all time grand slam race
Your guess two years back was accurate. Rafa leads the pack after AO 2022. Novak could still catch up though. Only trailing by one slam, with few years still ahead of him.
Danii is the real deal for years to come. This long, lean man is a machine. Congrats man. And on the other side of the court, the real steel, the beast, greatest of all time. Congrats Champion. Vamos Rafa ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Generational clash like we haven't seen in a really long time. Daniil's time will come, but Rafa is chasing history. #19 is his, only one behind Federer and 5 years younger. He's going to surpass the swiss. Rafa, you're the GOAT.
i really thought Medvedev would wear rafa down in the last two sets. His accuracy all over the court was incredible . Rafa was hitting some really great shots and i thought “Med will never return that “ bit not only did he get to the ball but he hit a winner . If this guy continues to play like that, he will be almost unbeatable in the coming years .
He did play well... and Rafa was a bit careful on his potent forehand winners... forcing some unforced errors from Rafa. Daniil is hard to read with his angles shot putting... That anchored elbow is hard to read before his racket hits the ball... In addition, Daniil's eye coordination before it hits the ball ...tracks or glimpse of where his opponent stands or about to move.
Massive respect to Medvedev to level the match after being two sets down. But man oh man, Rafa played one of the best games of his career! Vamos Rafa! Onto number 20 now!
Rafa you are an warrior ,what a match!! Age 23 vs 33, 10 years gap but you showed what you are made up of... You are an beast , greatest fighter in Tennis♥️ Proud to be your fan.
Bharath Purohit, the difference being that Federer won all 20 without having had to resort to cheating. The same can't be said for Nadal. Medvedev had all the momentum today but Nadal disrupted his rhythm by continually cheating and holding up play, not only on his own serve but also when Medvedev was trying to serve. Nadal and Djokovic are known to have done this right throughout their respective careers. Federer has never had to resort to cheating and therefore will always be the GOAT. Had Federer resorted to such cheating, he'd have undoubtedly won at least another 10 slams by now. Nadal is a fraud and deserves condemnation for his cheating.
This guy is simply unbelievable, he just keeps on winning and winning and winning no matter the crscumstances, one of the greatest sportsmen of all time without question.
Creed molonbest Why sorry? Be proud to say that RAFA is GOAT......He is worthy of being the GOAT.....This Finals is a true testament of his greatness.......
Whether you're a Rafa, Roger or Novak fan we've been lucky to have the 3 greatest of all time all playing at the same time. It'll probably never happen again
Nadal is the greatest of all time no doubt! The fight in him is unbelievable. 19 in 19! Youngest man ever to achieve golden slam and career slam at just 24. Most dominant level of tennis at French, translates his game well to hard and grass, has beaten prime Roger on grass, and prime Novak on hard, best winning percentage in open era, has accomplished the most in the least amount of time and games played, built his entire career on prime Fed and prime Novak, and ton more I can mention but that's on my channel. INSPIRATIONAL RAFA!
It goes like this: Slams> WTF's> Master 1,000's= OG> 500's> 250's Federer still leads in the two most important categories with 20 slams and 6 WTF's. And that is even mentioning the weeks at number 1 and year end number 1's he leads in.
@@daveorourke2468 Well grass has no 1000 masters and gravel 3 or 4. Which includes most of rafa's 1000 master events. So I don't think that's a good indicator. Grass should at least have 1 or 2 master 1000 events. And who is the best is always opinions and preferences.
This match wasn't so much about Medvedev playing great, it was more about Nadal himself almost completely self-destructing. Rafa wanted this title so much that it didn't allow him to concentrate properly. He must've had like million thoughts rushing through his head during those match points. I don't think I've ever seen Rafa this tight and on the edge. But like the amazing warrior that he is, he still managed to conquer his demons in his head and prevailed in the end. For a Rafa fan like me it was a difficult match to watch but definitely very exciting. Vamos Rafa! -19-

THEY are all different surfaces....ANYONE that follows tennis...knows this....french is clay, wimby is grass, aussie is hard, however the bounce is different then the courts at the US ...they are ALL different courts......and IF YOU TAKE Out ..nadals french he would only have....what 7 gs titles...and if you take out rogers french...he would still have 19..........just saying...
@Ivan Hoe excuse me i am sorry...if you were an AVID tennis...you would know...THAT ALL THE COURTS ARE DIFFERENT....yes aussie and the US r hard....but ....they have a different bounce......NADAL CANNOT HANDLE THE BOUNCE AT THE AUSSIE......proof is in the pudding on that.....so again....that was my point...oh and also...nadal has retired from 14 matches.....and look...federer never has...oh my here is another fact......federer has been in all 4 finals in one year...3 times....nadal....NEVER.....HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE
I can tell you, his fighting spirit. He is simply the most resilient tennis player in history. Novak and Roger certainly have their moxie as well, but Nadal takes it to another level day in day out even if he plays his own shadow lol.
Mike Jay it’s his fighting spirit, my only gripe is how much time he takes and all his weird rituals. Even McEnroe said thee ref needs to do something bc Medvedev is ready to serve and Nadal is still walking around
@@jon_durham I know that he abuse these behaviors sometimes, but I think it's part of the intimidation when he's sometimes in a bad situation. When he starts doing this, the opponent feels the presence of the world champion that he is. Such pressure on the opponent's shoulders lol. I obviously doesn't find it very sporty, and he gets called by the ref about it many times..
Surely one of the best quotes of the year was when Medvedev saying that while waiting for the trophy presentation, they showed highlights of all 19 slams Rafa had won and he wondered that had he won, what would they show. Brilliant moment.

Medvedev is like a mini combination of both Djokovic and Nadal.
He can be a wall when he wants to, and he has incredible fighting spirit and refuses to give up.
I'm sure we'll see more of him in the future :)
And he has a great attitude
@italkcrab his serve is better than nadl and joka.. But I think he had to wrok on his serve if he take time to serve it will be more deadly
@italkcrab He is incredibly hard to read too. He swings his racket in a kinda unorthodox way so he doesn't need extreme speed to hit winners. His opponent is just too late to respond because he doesn't know which way the ball goes.
Yeah. He is mini combination of both.
No he is Danil medvedev
Daniil Medvedev is the best among next gen player...! Without a doubt...
Tall players often have a short prime period. After that, they play "for fun" top ten or twenty for a couple of years.
Not sure what height has to do with it
Medvedev is a really good opponents and really elegant player , never screams, no emotion, he never loses his composure. Hwe congratulations to Nadal
Kristjan how come he snatched the towel from the ballperson the other day. Then loved it when the audience booed it him. He just seems a bit arrogant in my opinion idk Nadal and Federer are always modest and true professionals

Really how? he is cold as ice lol. Amazing player though.
he will win a grand slam next year if he keeps this form up. he is already proven to be more of a threat to the big 3 than zverev ever did
This loss to Nadal bring in him a NEW FIRE.
GOAT! VAMOS!
And again, one of the matches of the year is with Rafa 🙆♂️👏👏

Medvedev is a player to watch next year!
