All I can say is "Damn". Catalinbread knows there shit & Andy can play the shit out of it! I hope when I die Andy is there jamming with all the greats & Catalinbread is on the pedalboard. Thank you.
I love the new direction of last dozen videos you guys have put out. I know some people think its not informative enough, but its more entertaining, and honestly makes me want everything more, cause you're inventing new ways of advertising it. Keep it going
Sweet! Been waiting for some kind of a Jimmy Page tone-in-a-box for years. They did a great job with this one. I wonder if I can dial in some of that heavier "Presents" sound?
at the end, but you can always leave reverbs/delays/modulation effects or whatever after the overdrive (assuming your amp is clean) to emulate the function of an effects loop.
Voice: Shure KSM27-->RME Fireface 400 Guitar: Royer R121-->UA SOLO/610-->RME Fireface 400 for a more in depth Andy explains the whole process in this video /watch?v=8GUOxTYi4Qc (The Scoop - The PGS Recording Process)
Andy's playing definitely contributes to the excellent Page tone recreation. Page's tone is really coming from the fingers, so it's impossible to get exact. But damn, does this pedal sound good.
Because finger picking if you can do it properly sound more organic and can allow you to do a lot more then just using a pick, probably a good reason why Flamenco and Classical guitarists finger pick. But in this case I think a pick would have been good as Jimmy used one and they do make your tone a smidgen brighter.
I like this video, but I miss being able to see the pedal closeup for the settings. I'm particularly curious if you had to max out the treble setting for those tones. Thanks!
holy sweet mother of god! I need this! Please Andy make this the free pedal friday thing and send it to me because there is no way I'll be able to afford one before I find my next piece of essential gear.
It is a nice pedal... , but the best advice ive ever heard for sounding like JP...(The Master!...) Use Lp/tele with a light gauge string set and roll the Volume on your guitar down a touch... But to be honest...it would still be great to do all that....with this pedal!..
How would this guy sound with a Orange Duel Terror? I plan on getting this thing because I love Jimmy's tone. You mentioned "American style amp" and the Dual Terror is not that. Perhaps you could do my a gigantic favor and try out the combo in the store? I'd hate to have my dreams of awesome tone shattered because I invested in the wrong style amp. I wanted to DT for it's versatility. Thanks for all the gear vids, PGS. You're the best!
What i miss (or Andy misses) is knob tweaking. He hadn't done it recently. Tweaking the knobs shows the tonal variety of the pedal. Is it Burg's role? Great playing and demo though. Cheers!
You are 100% right. I have a Class 5 head going through a 2X12 and it does sound pretty bang on the plexi era. Very nice amount of low end, smokey and smooth overdrive at about half volume and begins to roar anywhere past that. Try it with a 2X12 or 4X12 man, the drive is to die for.
I'm betting Andy could sound like this with just a Tubescreamer. An awful lot of that tone seems to come from a great sounding Les Paul and Andy's touch.
great demo as always -- my only crit is I don't like this new trend of showing lots of footage cut in. I am pretty sure that most gear heads would prefer to see the guitar being played. it's just how we are.
i love pro guitar shop but i have to say, when i saw this video i was disappointed because i don't think this video captures pages tone at all. i figured id watch one more so i watched the video from catalinbread and this pedal NAILS IT. i was amazed. they used a fender amp in the catalinbread video and i bet they used something else in this one. but yea this pedal sounds amazing!
if you dont want to haul the amp everywhere you play ;) if u can haul around the 100 watt amp then congratulations you have great tone wherever u play haha
Nearly fifty years later everybody still wants to be Jimmy Page.
Andy usually uses 10's on 25.5" scale guitars and 11's on 24 3/4" like the LP. Thanks,
PGS
Led Zeppelin isn't really the tone I seek, but there's no way I'm not buying this pedal. Can't argue with Page!
All I can say is "Damn". Catalinbread knows there shit & Andy can play the shit out of it! I hope when I die Andy is there jamming with all the greats & Catalinbread is on the pedalboard. Thank you.
Fantastic demo, as always, Andy
Looks like I just found my new favorite pedal
Wow. The pedal sounds great...but the spot on playing is impressive.
this has to be the greatest, most inspired demo video ever!!!
Those demos are getting better and better !
I have felt the urge to applaud at my PC after this video. Very well played Andy!
I'm not really interested in this pedal but i just cannot stop or change the video until the end ...
PGS videos are becoming Art ;)
PGS is just getting better and better!!! I 100% enjoyed the demo, great job!
My hat is off to you Andy. Wow.
Best Page-y pedal I've ever heard.
It's funny because I was watching "The Song Remains The Same" today and was thinking "how can I get the Jimmy Page tone?" well whaddya know!
I love the new direction of last dozen videos you guys have put out. I know some people think its not informative enough, but its more entertaining, and honestly makes me want everything more, cause you're inventing new ways of advertising it. Keep it going
More Catalinbread demos please!
Sweet! Been waiting for some kind of a Jimmy Page tone-in-a-box for years. They did a great job with this one. I wonder if I can dial in some of that heavier "Presents" sound?
DANNNNNGGG... beautiful job. I want one.
At 4:37... how in the Hxxx do you play that without a pick so well!?!?!?!?!? Dude, you are the guitar player's guitar player. Seriously.
Andy IS the Tone King Imperial!
PGS, the last few videos have been incredible! The demos are a great blend of gear-talk and rock n roll history.
andy, you totally rock... !!
sick demo, i love the tone.
Any chance you guys could do an A/B of the RAH and the WIIO for those of us unsure which hiwatt pedal fits our style?
These are currently backordered, you can click the "notify me when in stock" button for instant notification when they come in. Thank you,
PGS
Thanks Astro! I'l check those out for sure. I still have not made a decision yet so I'm glad someone was able to give me most other things to look at.
Wow, that was outstanding!
Andy should screw up so we actually know it's him playing and not Jimmy.
gorgeous
Would've loved to hear Andy play Rock and Roll with this thing.
Must own......... Its just simply perfect
Anybody else notice how odd his right hand playing is? I don't get how he gets the sound of a pick with using his finger. Looks uncomfortable.
Im in love.
MAKE/GET MORE OF THESE PRONTO!
Well done Andy. You got Page's feel and tone down.
at the end, but you can always leave reverbs/delays/modulation effects or whatever after the overdrive (assuming your amp is clean) to emulate the function of an effects loop.
PGS videos are getting even better! I love Led Zeppelin, and this seems a cool pedal.

what is the song at the beginning?
Thank you!
Could Burgs do this to?? I want to hear it through his Hiwatt and tele if it's possible
Andy... (or anyone) ..are you playing through a Fender Deluxe Reverb?
Great job Andy. I'd love to start buying from PGS. I just with their was I was I could try before I buy.
holy sweet mother of god! I need this! Please Andy make this the free pedal friday thing and send it to me because there is no way I'll be able to afford one before I find my next piece of essential gear.

can you guys demo the catalinbread naga viper?
That's why we make the videos. We also have a very liberal return policy to accomodate this as well. Cheers!
Is the Catalinbread RAH a PGS exclusive pedal?, I don't see it on Catalinbread's Website.

I need this pedal but I want to know how would it sound on a strat or tele tho
What kind of LP-ish guitar is Andy playing from 2:31 to 3:17? It has a rounded cutaway
Heartbreaker needs more tele.
Patrick Lorenzo The RAH pedal is meant to be the tone of the live performance, which was done with a Les Paul (I think)
What is the tone king comparable too? Fender, Marshal, or are they their own sound?
Brilliant!!!......and like always I want one..haha
which pickups does that Les Paul have?
What happened to the regular vids? D:
I feel like I'm able to get pretty much this same tone with my solid gold super drive.
pedal settings?? The thing sounds delicious.
andy, do you recommend any specific book for learning guitar? please
AHHHH chillls!

that's plectrum to you mr.
Thank god for this... time to stop reading depressing news stories and PLAY GUITAR!
Slide guitar solo was cool
Andy. In 2.32 - 3.23 you add delay only, or something else?
Thanx
What gauge of strings does Andy use?
I'm betting Andy could sound like this with just a Tubescreamer. An awful lot of that tone seems to come from a great sounding Les Paul and Andy's touch.

i was sure i wanted the DLS (marshall model), now im not so sure :/
Does he ever use a pick? Not saying he needs one, but I just wonder how the tone would come through
i love pro guitar shop but i have to say, when i saw this video i was disappointed because i don't think this video captures pages tone at all. i figured id watch one more so i watched the video from catalinbread and this pedal NAILS IT. i was amazed. they used a fender amp in the catalinbread video and i bet they used something else in this one. but yea this pedal sounds amazing!
I dont know why but sometimes I hear a little bit of phaser, or am I just going insane.
if you dont want to haul the amp everywhere you play ;) if u can haul around the 100 watt amp then congratulations you have great tone wherever u play haha
Its a modified WIIO.
Kool
PGS has found my weakness, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. When people play that in demos I can't help but want whatever they are selling.
hiwatts sound very different to marshalls...
Micidiale !!
and a lot of it has to do with Andy's touch : )~
O_O Whoa.
you probaly shouldnt. why you even ask if you already own something close enough. but check out jimmys mod
Yes must have for the pedal whores out there. Btw Andy what amp are u playing through for this demo?
This or a Dirty Little Secret? with an Epiphone les paul standard and a fender super 112
Maybe try looking at say a Mesa Boogie Mini Rec, or maybe Transatlantic?
Hahaha, nice.
Not that different - especially at higher volumes. I've played both.
Pretty good...but the Gibson has alot to do with it....
Led Zep specific dirt pedal? Shut up and take my money!
nope..
I feel like crossdressing just so i can throw panties at Andy! lol
Don't worry, i won't!
