Hell, I would wager all of 16 teams considering they had a single blue side game vs Pain Gaming. T1 also lead the tournament in GD@15 by 900 over 2nd place. Meteos showing why he fell off and was booted out of LCS.
Syndra vs Ori was the matchup APA played earlier vs WBG where he tried to flash on Ori and got ulted back. That was a decent game for him otherwise. I think his problems aren't tied to the champion matchup, but how greedily he plays on an immobile character and he just gets punished on repeat
Kind of strange how people were blaming umti for this when APA would pick immobile picks like Syndra, play like he has full vision and back up just to die to the eventual gank/turn. Then people are like Wow umti trolled APA when APA is playing like a dog.

HLE averaged 4k gold lead in all 3 games. GenG does not draft garbage like Yasuo mid in this meta or run it down like HLE does. GenG 3-0 against the worst early game team.
Literally TL couldn't adapt. APA's champ pool is a problem, Impact away from tanks isn't going to win internationally and Umti can't play anything other than tanks because TL's recipe to success all year was 3 tanks and 2 adcs
Impact,BUmTi and CoreFF all 3 of them looked pretty washed. At lot of APA problem were creating by BUmTi getting slap around by all Junglers he played against
APA doesn’t have a small champ pool anymore. He’s shown he can play a lot of different stuff. It’s unfortunate that the meta mids at worlds were just things he isn’t that confident on. Sometimes that happens, really hope he can get more comfortable on melee mids.
@ZephraFPS idk. APA only plays split push. Corki, tristana and ziggs were his most played champs (over 5 games) Neeko (4) taliyah(3). And that was summer alone. People like to glaze over the fact that TL took a game off of T1 and all that but wasn't that when t1 had all that ddos problem and couldn't practice? If APA could play anything other than splitpush, I'd say they might be in a good spot. NA was just horrible and I wouldn't be surprised if they go full Korean next year importing mid and having berserker get a green card. People will be like yeon wasn't a problem but if the possibility arises where they can field a 5 man Korean team, they will do it
I can see Inspired pulling out a Zac. Also an Ivern Rengar combo would be pretty crazy. Or maybe like a Khazix or Belveth could be viable in jgl. Not sure how deep the cooks will actually go though.
i'm not going to lie, i think meteos tunneled too hard on his 'the tahm kench thing was overcooking for the sake of overcooking' angle. corejj is not a moron, and he's not someone who panics for no reason under pressure this late into his career, the guy's a world champion for god's sake - it's not that kind of 'ooh stupid decision due to pressure' choke. things you need to consider 1) kench scales amazing with max HP, and very well with size bonuses - heartsteel is naturally his best item thanks to giving both those things AND opportunities to scale even more. size bonuses give kench increased max range AND projectile speed on Q (which also has *double* bonus HP scaling - once from its own ratio, once from applying passive which has a bonus health ratio). this is a huge bonus for kench's ability to make picks, especially against opponents with high MS (we'll revisit this) 2) corejj is playing kench with a jhin ADC and a starved syndra against a k'sante, skarner team with orianna and lulu backing them up. there is ZERO chance that any standard item purchases (including locket, zeke's) will make ANY difference when the fundamental problem is that your carries simply start doing zero damage as time goes on. what's the solution here? PLAY TO MAXIMIZE THE CHANCE OF MAKING PICKS - you have absolutely no way to win grouped teamfights. note that the targets you want to pick off will have high MS thanks to Ori W and/or Lulu W, making longer range, faster Q VERY VALUABLE 3) there are literally only 3 ways to increase size via items - heartsteel (which he had), sterak's gage (not realistic to begin with + heavily wasted gold value), ELIXIR OF IRON. not to mention the other bonuses it gives like the max HP (great on kench as said) and the passive that *allows your team to follow up on picks and engages faster*. 4) purely in terms of value for gold, elixirs are actually the most efficient items in the game. just as a heads up, unless you have a legendary item completion ready, if you have 500-1k gold and feel that a critical, game-swinging fight (e.g. a fight over Elder) is about to happen in the next 2-3 minutes, BUYING AN ELIXIR IS ALWAYS MORE VALUABLE THAN JUST ANOTHER COMPONENT. this goes DOUBLE for supports in pro with their limited income where they're unlikely to finish multiple big items anyway (although we already discussed how there wasn't any item buy for Kench that would save this game) Putting that all together, CoreJJ realized that there was no item he could build that would fundamentally change the doomed scaling on TL's side. So after his Heartsteel he made the call to perma use Elixir of Iron as a hail mary to maximize the small chance of TL finding any kind of pick, THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY THEY COULD MAKE IT BACK INTO THE GAME. It's not like he just got obsessed with finding a way to abuse some sort of Tahm Kench size cheese just for the hell of it. I'm not even a TL fan (see name), but I just don't like when someone like Meteos who really should know better runs with a lazy narrative. Man was a former pro and is well aware that pros usually have SOME reasoning behind their item decisions, EVEN IF IT'S BAD REASONING. Dunno why he would choose now to start acting like it's realistic that any pro - let alone a former world champ - would just arbitrarily decide to cook some ridiculous tech *for no reason at all*. Weak stuff from him on that topic this time
I feel what Azael said about G2 and EU feeling gloom going into worlds. There were so many EU casters and G2 members saying that this was EUs last chance to win worlds.
It truly was. EU legit is known as the one team region. G2 is all they have. No one cares or even knows any of the other EU teams and Fanatic is just a drama pit
@Richardlizhu the EU fans and casters forget that 2019 was 5 years ago. G2 keeps running the region because of how incompetent every other org is. EU has just been steadily declining year after year
I know they did sweeping changes to move adcs out of mid lane, did they nerf Zeri she seemed really strong before but now nobody picks her even as a flex pick abd Quad had a nasty game against TL on her.
Who should Gen G ban vs Fly? No one. I want to see Gen G be cocky AF and just say "play whoever you want, we'll still win" and then either prove it or have it bite them in the @ss. Either way it's great entertainment.
@@mwbwyatt I agree, actually. Plus, it's worlds - you don't screw around like that just as a general rule. But it would be more entertaining if they did get cocky (esp if Fly actually does well) :)
26:20 Anyone saying someone's bad for doing bad on a unique pick isn't an opinion worth listening to imo! Unique picks should be celebrated not used for flame. Inspired Amumu and Nunu, G2 with the Yasuo Sylas, APA with the Kled, I loved each and every one of these and they made the games way more fun to watch!
The problem is mid, since Yone is beating everything. I'd love to see Quad be the spot to cook from, then; either Ziggs (farm around the spectral form) or Nocturne (farm everyone else while Vedius pops off).
The big issue with Inspired having some crazy pick strategy is he isn’t facing Peanut, he’s facing Canyon. Peanut is much more a very intelligent pathing advantage jungler - getting small incremental leads for his lanes. Canyon is a carry jungler. He will pick something aggressive like Nidalee and Inspired will not be allowed to play the game if Inspired picks something like Nunu
@@yeeticusfinch4377 I feel like although karthus needs to farm and may have some difficulty contesting early objectives he obviously hyper scales and even if he gets picked or killed he still delivers his damage.. seems like a great easy way to have late game insurance
I don’t know why people act like Fly did well against HLE lmao. They literally were down 5k gold pre 20 min in their win, when nunu is an early game champ. HLE lost the game because of their mistakes at Baron. There’s still no team even close on the level of Eastern teams other than G2.
being able to come back from a gold deficit against an exceptionally good team is just as hard as being able to get a significant gold lead and keep it. if they can be competitive they can win. they just need to make good decisions.
This is something I will agree with. People keep saying wow Flyquest threw but ignore HLE had a 4k and 5k gold lead in game 1 and 2 then threw. The fact people think this is a good sign for FQ is hilarious.
Tough to see TL go out with a whimper like that after a great year overall. It's never really any single player's fault, but it's hard for me to not look at APA. His limited champion pool continues to be a liability at the international level, where adaptation is a must, and he seems to frequently misposition and misexecute plays when the pressure is on. He's not a bad player, he just seems to lack that extra gear that the greatest players seem to have.
Thank goodness, the team we sent to quarters actually has a small chance. I wouldn't say Flyquest has a GOOD chance of making it out of quarters, but at least they have a chance. Liquid's only chance at beating a good team in this meta would've been for all five opposing players to come down with severe covid but still insist on playing.
I don't have an issue with him using the Kled. But I'm not sure if I agree with Azael on liking high risk-high reward if the risk occurs 4 minutes into the game and the game is just over because it flipped tails.
It's sad for TL that they nerfed the style they were exceptional at all year just in time for worlds. I was excited for Kled but not as much as I was for Nunu. Champ is literally game warping and it was just dropped. Worst case scenarios are that it's banned from you, but then so what you grab an OP. Didn't even realize I went from TL criticism to Fly so fast haha.
I THINK THEY CAN DO NOCTURNE FIDDLESTICKS COMP. OR ORIANA NOCTURNE GALIO J4. THEY CAN DO RENGAR SENNA, RENGAR IVERN . OLAF ENCHANTER. OLAF IVERN. twisted fate ryze. SHEN

Boy, acting like HLE were playing their best during that FLY and didn't throw/make so many mistakes. Also "filled with hope" based on no logic or reasoning, just cope and "omg secret picks!"... like wat? It's funny how the only thing left for the west are clinging to "pocket picks!" and taking a single game is some big thing cause the teams are so bad. btw FLY have no option but to scrim LPL/LCK teams now. And why are they acting like no other team will improve, learn from swiss stage? FLY are the weakest teams in top 8 and they would not just be able to beat a weaker team than HLE cause those other teams are still strong and muuuch better than FLY.
These guys will never say it. But APA just isn’t good. Not being able to play the core Mid Mages, can’t play Yone, not good at adapting to the meta. You’re niche picks can’t be your only tool
There is nothing much going for them content wise. Hey guys look he is bantering (ignores he is just picking a hard lane winning match up where his jungle/support are just playing for mid).
The only reason I'd cheer for flyquest is for massu and quad, they're good kids. TL kinda won LCS in spring and regular season in summer with great drafts and lane swapping. everyone caught up to them in lane swapping and their drafts were kinda garbage all worlds. It seems like they just overcooked everything. Flyquest was just better. Even being a TL fan, I can certainly admit flyquest was the better team by the end of the year. Impact is a monster on k'sante, why he wasn't perma on k'sante the entire time was insane. Also, jhin needs to sit out a bit. There are so many comps he just doesn't work well against.
I loved that APA went for the Kled pick. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. it is fun to see non meta champions coming out. Hopefully APA practices some mele champs for next year.

1) kench scales amazing with max HP, and very well with size bonuses - heartsteel is naturally his best item thanks to giving both those things AND opportunities to scale even more. size bonuses give kench increased max range AND projectile speed on Q (which also has *double* bonus HP scaling - once from its own ratio, once from applying passive which has a bonus health ratio). this is a huge bonus for kench's ability to make picks, especially against opponents with high MS (we'll revisit this)
2) corejj is playing kench with a jhin ADC and a starved syndra against a k'sante, skarner team with orianna and lulu backing them up. there is ZERO chance that any standard item purchases (including locket, zeke's) will make ANY difference when the fundamental problem is that your carries simply start doing zero damage as time goes on. what's the solution here? PLAY TO MAXIMIZE THE CHANCE OF MAKING PICKS - you have absolutely no way to win grouped teamfights. note that the targets you want to pick off will have high MS thanks to Ori W and/or Lulu W, making longer range, faster Q VERY VALUABLE
3) there are literally only 3 ways to increase size via items - heartsteel (which he had), sterak's gage (not realistic to begin with + heavily wasted gold value), ELIXIR OF IRON. not to mention the other bonuses it gives like the max HP (great on kench as said) and the passive that *allows your team to follow up on picks and engages faster*.
4) purely in terms of value for gold, elixirs are actually the most efficient items in the game. just as a heads up, unless you have a legendary item completion ready, if you have 500-1k gold and feel that a critical, game-swinging fight (e.g. a fight over Elder) is about to happen in the next 2-3 minutes, BUYING AN ELIXIR IS ALWAYS MORE VALUABLE THAN JUST ANOTHER COMPONENT. this goes DOUBLE for supports in pro with their limited income where they're unlikely to finish multiple big items anyway (although we already discussed how there wasn't any item buy for Kench that would save this game)
Putting that all together, CoreJJ realized that there was no item he could build that would fundamentally change the doomed scaling on TL's side.
Idk where that sentiment is even coming from, EU has never been farther from winning worlds, they didn’t even make it to playoffs
@Richardlizhu the EU fans and casters forget that 2019 was 5 years ago. G2 keeps running the region because of how incompetent every other org is. EU has just been steadily declining year after year
damn soulmario mention. we are ogs here. any1 mentionning supermetroid?
I could see cooking some Maokai top for some Mao/Amumu/Rell engages and play to group and force an early soul and take fights in jungle chokes.
After the Ivern earlier in the tournament and the Redemption Nunu, I am expecting Yuumi jungle will beat GenG. Baby proof Bwipo
Teemo jungle or bust! They will bring in the Curling Captain himself for the good sauce and cook up something special.
why did they force this to come out now when there's a literal week break? let them do it tomorrow ffs
last hope is memeos' new moustache and goatee
I know they did sweeping changes to move adcs out of mid lane, did they nerf Zeri she seemed really strong before but now nobody picks her even as a flex pick abd Quad had a nasty game against TL on her.
Who should Gen G ban vs Fly? No one.
I want to see Gen G be cocky AF and just say "play whoever you want, we'll still win" and then either prove it or have it bite them in the @ss.
Either way it's great entertainment.
i think GenG will be a lot more respectful of FLY after their performances vs HLE rather than be cocky in drafts
@@mwbwyatt I agree, actually. Plus, it's worlds - you don't screw around like that just as a general rule.
But it would be more entertaining if they did get cocky (esp if Fly actually does well) :)
Could you imagine a game with Inspired's Ivern and Bwipo's Rengar with a like a Swain mid.
Oh and Bwipo Urgot!
the others i agree with but the kled was straight up running it down.
Picking Kled when Yone and Skarner was up is absolutely garbage level drafting skills and should never be praised
If we never innovate, how does the meta ever evolve?!
Soon as a team doesn't pick off meta, they have no style. Soon as they do, they're trolling the draft. The community is hilarious lol.
If you want to know what FlyQuest is cooking, just tune into LS's stream, I'm pretty sure he's the source of the Nunu.
Though I'll add one of mine: Udyr jungle is disgusting, and it's technically a flex.
I don't know if Quad plays it or if it's even close to good right now, but I'd love to see some mid lane Vel'Koz at worlds.
It’s crazy how FLY of all teams is the best Western team
Its' so funny how they still got the Kia AD with NRG owner on it even went they are out of the league LMAO
Question: do you think karthus is a good pick for inspired if Lilia is banned ?
If you can draft winning enough lanes to help defend from invades / contest crab i like it
In LCS, sure. Not vs Gen G. He's not going to have any lane prio and will just get steamrolled with co-ordinated invades
Karthus is nerfed and kinda weak
@@yeeticusfinch4377 I feel like although karthus needs to farm and may have some difficulty contesting early objectives he obviously hyper scales and even if he gets picked or killed he still delivers his damage.. seems like a great easy way to have late game insurance
TL is a big fish in a small pond. FLY just DIFFERENT!
"might be a quick one" checks video length. Nearly 1.5h XD
The only way fly win vs gen g is if they win the bot lane. If they can win bot it will make the game way more real for them
SOULMARIO MENTIONED 🧙
The amount of delulu here is crazy lol
I don’t know why people act like Fly did well against HLE lmao. They literally were down 5k gold pre 20 min in their win, when nunu is an early game champ. HLE lost the game because of their mistakes at Baron. There’s still no team even close on the level of Eastern teams other than G2.
G2 stuck in Swiss two years in a row LOL
@@diaperamess NA hasn’t beaten an lpl or lck team since 2018 LOL
being able to come back from a gold deficit against an exceptionally good team is just as hard as being able to get a significant gold lead and keep it. if they can be competitive they can win. they just need to make good decisions.
cope and seethe
I think the way to win these games against the east you have to pick a objective control tanky jungler Scharner is OP new new was good
Sion support double jungle is my suggestion 46:04
Flyquest got gifted a quart birth. Can't wait to see mid get gapped.
Sion so we can hit them with the death split push lets goo
some of the games is already over before the it even starts just by the draft alone
i think given the meta, good chanpions could be ryze syndra cassio galio. orianna. xin ivern . renekton oalf- ill be hard
I THINK THEY CAN DO NOCTURNE FIDDLESTICKS COMP. OR ORIANA NOCTURNE GALIO J4.
THEY CAN DO RENGAR SENNA, RENGAR IVERN . OLAF ENCHANTER. OLAF IVERN.
twisted fate ryze. SHEN
Hey guys! Watch every episode, either here or on Spotify! But please stop doing a random 20 second preview at the beginning of the RUclips vids - just get into it. I hate the spoilers of a cool part of the conversation. Maybe its just me, idk. Otherwise, love it! Keep it up!
Nah
I wonder if Bwipo will play xin zhao top since he's been playing it in solo queue and says it's strong
I think we are gonna see Kog'maw make an appearance
Kobe with a mic 😤
It would be even better if there were subtitles from the regions participating in the World Championship !!!!!!
It kind of surprises me that casseo isn't better into yone. I don't play either champ tho
cant wait to see fly get 3-0'd
23 mins avg game time
ohhhh yeaaaaaaa
38:59 When you get side picked jungle and go 6/1/8
46:30 Bwipo Gangplank!! Trust me, totally unbiased
Bwipo being such a choch when talking about European players and teams keeps me for rooting for them deapite being from NA.
The TL Kled pick was so odd in my eyes, why would you instalock it into a Yone? Seems like such a bad matchup. It just screamed desperation to me.
The Dive!!!
Nunu is supposed to be a strong pick. LS has said this over and over again.
Yes
Eu got felted this tournament, now we can watch them seethe and cope over this till next international
EU looked so bad but G2 looked amazing in that last series. I wanted to see them get through, they were the west's best chance.
People are severely sleeping on Sylas.
No way they don't replace Umti. I know APA played bad at worlds, but he was at least good all year. Umti was a loss condition for the entire season.
Chad late nighter. Hope you all get to catch up on some sleep
I loved that APA went for the Kled pick. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. it is fun to see non meta champions coming out. Hopefully APA practices some mele champs for next year.
