21 Days... What persistence. I've hunted 47 years and this is one of the most impressive things I've seen. Thanks for posting this. Great respect to you and nature.
I was an avid hunter for decades, and for a number of those years hunting wild game really contributed to family sustenance. I have hunted a lot of things over the years but only a few bears and they had been on the move, either walking, or charging me. But, I had an incredible experience with a bear while on a spring bear hunt along the beautiful south eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies. I'm a spot and stalk rifle hunter, but I liked getting as close up as I could when hunting so most of my shots are within fifty yards. I waited for and stalked a big black bear with a thick spring coat that had come out of the bush and had begun frolicing and munching along a grassy hillside just a few yards from me. It was a big black boar with a thick spring coat. Just what I was looking for. I got in place within a hundred yards and watched him as he rolled and played in the grass towards me. At about thirty yards he stopped, stood up, and shook himself. And with what seemed to be a genuine smile on his face, resumed munching grass, broadside in front of me. I watched him for twenty minutes or so until he had meandered out of site. He was just out of hibernation, he was playing with his food and having so much fun in the sun on a beautiful spring morning, I just couldn't shoot, and I haven't hunted a bear since.
Thank you, for posting this comment! At first I was super excited to see the video and then shortly after, I felt a little sad for the bear. I've never hunted one and don't plan on it either. Nothing wrong with it of course, just not my thing 😊.

actually that spear went through the bear like a hot knife through butter. bears have been known to take several large caliber bullets before going down (and the bullets didnt even go through the bear) and that spear was thrown by a person not a cannon or catapult. so either that hunter has superhuman strength, or that spear has unknown properties, or that bear was made of jelly, else there's no way a mere spear should've gone right through
it's a property of blades we call "sharpness" lol. It's nothing superhuman about it the blade is sharp enough to glide though anything made of flesh.@@blackfalkon4189
Dang, that's a real gutsy hunter right there. Never thought a Grizzly can be speared. Clone the man. Also the best explanation I heard of why hunting and conservation goes hand in hand.
That Sir is the greatest hunting feat I ever witnessed. I started hunting with a shotgun then I moved up to rifle and last I felt more experienced and started bowhunting. I have always wanted to hunt an animal with a spear as you have. That takes alot of balls my friend and I salute you for it. You definitely have my Respect.
Nah fam, you've got it backwards. Squirrels are much harder being a smaller target Grizzlies are easy as you can't miss such a big animal when it's barreling down on top of you.
I stayed on for the whole 27 minutes. Never knew we could go that primitive and make an effective kill against such a large predator. Great respect for you, Sir.
Why? I'm a old hunter, have never killed anything I wouldn't eat. when I do kill a animal it is quickly and cleanly. Stabbing a animal with a spear is not quickly. This is the type of hunter that that gives the anti hunters one more thing to complain about.
I only kill what I eat as well and whether the animal is shot with a rifle, bow or spear it makes no difference, the animal bleeds out in all of those cases. The anti-hunters will never understand why we hunt so tying to make them happy is pointless. They will continue to go to the local store and buy meat wrapped in plastic ready to cook and choosing not to address how inhumanely factory-farmed animals are treated. The majority of farmed animals are raised in deplorable conditions and meet their fate in far worse ways. This man is simply harvesting the cleanest most free-range organic meat in existence.
QnT Cats At 3:50 in the video he says that he harvests the flesh and the hide so that tells me he’s not just a trophy hunter, at least I hope not because I also disagree with that type of hunting. I don’t bear hunt but I have friends that do and they eat their harvests. Plenty of whitetail deer here in western PA for me to eat so never felt the need to go after anything els except maybe an elk. Anyway, even if he doesn’t eat it himself and donates the meat to the locals I’m okay with it.
@@jeremygroznik297 every single one of these RUclips trophy hunters says they are hunting for food and "will give what they don't want to locals", so they can avoid backlash from hunters who actually appreciate and want to preserve the wildlife we have available to us. You don't go after grizzly for food. You do it for bragging rights and a trophy. 1. This guy went out of his way to "spear hunt" a grizzly on RUclips(that highly suggests the bragging rights/trophy hunter mentality) 2. This guy baited the spot beneath him with donuts(highly suggestive of lack of respect for the whole process of hunting) 3. This guy basically dropped the spear on the bear, letting gravity and the weight of the spear do most of the work, rather than throwing it(again, highly suggestive of a lack of respect for what hunting means and taking the easiest route possible to achieve his end goal, to brag about "spearing" a grizzly).
I think that bear at 15:30 is an interesting encounter, a smaller bear walks up, eats, nearly dies, a bigger and stronger bear senses danger and runs to live another day. Might be why it grew so big and strong.
How did you hike up that mountain without those gigantic balls of yours getting in the way? Holy shit that's badass. I was scared and I'm sitting in my garage watching this on my phone.

My wife calls this a "Man Crush",...she doesn't understand,LOL!! If you are ever near Boise Idaho, you are always welcome for dinner. ( Sorry no porcupine).
@@immikeurnot Sure, if you get a good shot. But it is easier to mess up a spear shot than a rifle or bow. The velocity of the spear when it is leaving your hand is quite low compared to bullet or even a modern bow/arrow. There is more chance for things to go wrong and for the animal to die slowly
Kill if we must, but we all respect and love these animals, animals that made humans what we are today, after all the hunting throughout the century. Anyways we'll done bro
This is the first I've laid eyes on these videos...It's really cool how the camera is attached to the spear and your view gets to follow the spear as it makes the kill. Thanks, I really enjoyed your video along with excellent production.
I like how at 18:16 he was looking up at a massive bear that had the high ground and it’s a MASSIVE BEAR and just stood there waiting for a chance to kill it. I would have begun to have second thoughts by then
Dude is obviously a "professional" hunter with all the sponsors he can get. "I wear fruit of the loom underwear while hunting." I just want to chime in, and fully expect the haters and deniers to immediately attack, but I have to say this. Just eating the meat and taking the hide to have it commercially tanned for "trophy rights" is typical of modern white hunters and an insult to the animal. Many will say it is done in the name of conservation, but I must disagree when you let the vast majority of the animal go to waste. I have hunted all my life and I use every part of the animal that I can. The meat, the hide, the sinew, the feet/hooves, the brain (for tanning the hide), the antlers, the bones (for arrowheads/awls). I am indigenous, and I let nothing go to waste. THAT is the way to hunt and honor the animal.
Hunting regulations have saved more animals than you'd ever believe. Don't talk sh*t on a hunter when he actively participates in protecting animals more than you do.
@Mitchell Heath I was just laughing at all the talk about how elusive these bears are. Making it sound like they're hard to find and hunt. You just go sit over the pile of donuts they've been eating right.

Greatest hunter in this modern era, best video ever, hands down, that takes the cake nothing or noone else even comes close. Tim Wells you are a stud man and have balls of steel!! Congrats!
CAKE AS BEEN SERVED
Better than National Geographic and for sure better than anything on the history channel. I would much rather see more of this than people just saying "Its getting squatchy" for 30 minutes with no difference between episodes.
Not gonna lie,
The only reason I respect your videos is because you actually utilize everything. I hate trophy hunters. Great video
Bee Kendricks it’s a fraction of a fraction of a percent of people that hunt in foreign countries and don’t eat it. The meat is ALWAYS eaten. Just sometimes by others (aka the tribe) and not the foreign hunter. But in America, by law you can’t just hunt to kill. It doesn’t work that way. It’s called “wanton waste.” You will be charged if you discard the carcass.

This though is one of those things that doesn’t do much for hunting but it gives those who attack hunting a great deal of ammo

How the hell do you kill a bear with a blowgun
Freaking legend
You Huff and you Puff until you blow the Bear down!!!
When that bear just bites through the spear shaft. Holy crap!
I’ve seen Grizzly bow hunts where the hunter was backed up with a 300 win mag it in case the bear charges, it makes me that more impressed with Tim he was all on his own armed with his spear and probably a side arm!!!!
And the guide.
And whoever else is out of frame.
Oh the other guys with him definitely have more guns on them! I carry a 10mm handgun for my side or sometimes my dad carry’s it and I carry my Benelli M4 with Brenneke bear slugs or sluggers just in case? Especially when we are way out there fishing. Grizzle’s are amazing specimens
When he is on ground it’s just him and the camera man but when he is up in a tree it’s just him
O yeah!!! Couldn’t wait for this to come out. You never cease to amaze me Tim. Thanks for all the awesome content!!👍

On a serious note. Thank You Tim Wells for using affordable gear that us normal folk use. Not all the ultra high end shit that all these TV hunters endorse like we can afford a 2K rifle scope or a 3k rifle. Tim hunts where we hunt and uses what we use. Your the real deal Tim!!
A lot of respect for Tim. I don't think I'll be hunting a grizzly with a spear. Impressive bite on that spear, broke like a twig.
Don't forget pain and adrenaline: that bear will tear anything around to shreds as it dies...
actually that spear went through the bear like a hot knife through butter. bears have been known to take several large caliber bullets before going down (and the bullets didnt even go through the bear)
and that spear was thrown by a person not a cannon or catapult. so either that hunter has superhuman strength, or that spear has unknown properties, or that bear was made of jelly, else there's no way a mere spear should've gone right through
it's a property of blades we call "sharpness" lol. It's nothing superhuman about it the blade is sharp enough to glide though anything made of flesh.@@blackfalkon4189
I kill grizzlies with a spear, said NO ONE in 200 YEARS!! Thanks for the excitement Tim Wells.

Dang, that's a real gutsy hunter right there. Never thought a Grizzly can be speared. Clone the man. Also the best explanation I heard of why hunting and conservation goes hand in hand.
Why? Did you think a Grizzly is a machine?
Lmao anything can be spared
Your a good man. The world is lucky to have a man like you walk the face of the earth. Thank you.
Why respect? Heis in a tree. Not on the ground. I would hit the bear with a stick until its dead. Man o mano.
I spear hunt , im working my way up to a grizzly,, right now im stuck on squirrels
Nah fam, you've got it backwards. Squirrels are much harder being a smaller target Grizzlies are easy as you can't miss such a big animal when it's barreling down on top of you.

This is fuckin amazing
That was more brutal than I thought it would be, actually felt sorry for the bear. A spear seems like a very good survival tool, need to buy one!

This is the guy in your nightmares when your running for your life and he’s walking but is somehow right behind you.
Except someone put a bunch of donuts out and you couldn’t help yourself and got hit in the back with a spear.
1. This guy went out of his way to "spear hunt" a grizzly on RUclips(that highly suggests the bragging rights/trophy hunter mentality)
2. This guy baited the spot beneath him with donuts(highly suggestive of lack of respect for the whole process of hunting)
3. This guy basically dropped the spear on the bear, letting gravity and the weight of the spear do most of the work, rather than throwing it(again, highly suggestive of a lack of respect for what hunting means and taking the easiest route possible to achieve his end goal, to brag about "spearing" a grizzly).
People eat bear.
You don't always have to eat what you hunt anyway, look at wild hogs. Nobody eats that shit.
@@qntcats5974 ok boomer
So much production value and prep go into these shows!!!

Don't tell me the bear snapped the spear in two with his teeth!
He did tho. Bears are crazy
@Lee Dawson A spear with a head like that is deadly as hellllll. It just tears the insides apart and the bear hemorrhages massively and dies quickly.
@Lee Dawson That big wide blade does more damage than a rifle or shotgun. Spears kill QUICK.

THAT is the way to hunt and honor the animal.
brabanthallen Why not eat the brain?
Ronin Khan he’s indigenous not Chinese
@@minecraftraider123 Brain is full of great nutrients but yeah it's a bit taboo in most places
