    The working class have largely been abandoned these past few decades. Globalism and then the EU has forced them to compete with labour willing to undercut their pay and conditions, whether we are talking outsourcing or immigration, and the official figures reflect that. Take home pay has stagnated and working conditions are increasingly precarious.
    The middle and upper class like their cheap goods, like their cheap services. So when the working class come to the political establishment and say we're struggling, we need help. They turn to them and yell racist, talk to them like idiots. Demonize them when they're unable to compete and end up on the doll. The working poor are constantly being undermined, if not by exploitative work then kept in a permanent state of insecurity with welfare sanctions and forced unpaid labour through the work programme.
    Insecurity has become a form of entertainment for the country. Endless "on benefits" programmes were people from once proud working class communities struggle for the amusement of others. Pay has been pushed so low that people in work are a bigger welfare recipient than jobseekers, that people who have jobs are having to visit food banks.
    The political establishment abandoned them and thought they could just ignore them. Then when these people decided enough was enough, if no one will help them they'll take action and vote for what they perceive to be the solution to their problems. The establishment freak out, they demand that they vote the way they want them to... You must be joking? You think you can tell these people what to do now?
    Even if their actions turn out to be totally wrong, everyone has lost the right to tell these people what to do.

      I've been saying this for ages and the Labour advisor to Tony Blair openly admitted they used EU migration to lower working class wages. One common theme is near total ignorance about what the EU actually is, what it does, how it operates, why it operates, its history and purpose, its contribution to economic activity, its importance in geopolitics, and so on. What an incredibly stupid thing to have a referendum about.
    Theresa May's Brexit plans are neoliberal globalisation on steroids because the only way to succeed is to massively deregulate, globalise and open ourselves to the world (as supported by 'economists for brexit')... and there's a fair chance it will still leave us worse off overall, whilst at the same time completely fucking over the poor and increasing inequality. Their end goal is the UK becoming a low tax, light regulation, little welfare, offshore free market hub.
    Goodbye workers' rights. Goodbye environmental protections. Goodbye British industry. Goodbye NHS.
    The majority of people who voted for Brexit will get the opposite of what they actually want. Whether they realise or not (or admit it), and THEY are going to be the ones hit by Brexit more than anyone else. People have voted against something they're unhappy with (whether right or wrong) and they are only going to get EVEN MORE of it thanks to their vote. It's a fucking shambles.

    • @serjthereturn
      @serjthereturn 8 лет назад +1

      Vote to Leave fair question. I guess it doesn't really arise because I haven't seen large marches protesting against multi-culturalism. A million people marched to stop a war and it still went ahead, for example. On the other hand, our multi-cultural society exists because we had an empire that dominated the world, ditto other former colonial powers. How far back do you want to go? We are where we are, for better or worse. I think for the most part it's been a good thing.

    • @serjthereturn
      @serjthereturn 8 лет назад +1

      ***** "Because there are laws against Racism"
      that doesn't stop you protesting against a multi cultural society, it just so happens many racists get involved and do stupid things. You would only be arrested if you incited hatred or violence.
      Of course we're multi cultural because of empire. How can you deny that???! Look at the demographics of the immigrant population (not including EU cits)- Pakistani, Indian, Jamaican, African... the British Empire. Bloody ironic that those that loved the empire are always moaning about it's consequences.
      There are loads of benefits to multi culturalism. Food for one. Music, literature, philosophy, fashion... an improved genepool. But I suppose you don't care for that...

The same issues are growing here in Australia...and that's without the absolute bugger - mess of an inconclusive "vote" that you're having to deal with over there. I have immediate family living in Britain, so I'm genuine when I say that I truly hope for a peaceful and progressive outcome for Britain's citizens.

    Just seen one comment, homes are there for people coming into the country. It’s hard to see that a new person let into this country getting 30k in benefits in the first year with all the homeless around. There may organisations that help immigrants CAB, immigration houses etc. When we all know there half a dozen leaving on the streets locally.
