  • Coldshot is the welfare from the Jessica Alter event, and the first member of the new sniper class, Hunter, and she's quite good, way better than I expected.
    Good thing she's also as beautiful as she is.

    Coldshot raiser here, the one thing I feel that she lacks (in a balanced way) is manual deactivation on S2. It would be really nice to get her first 8 shots or so with a large ATK buff then have the option to not destroy her reload speed (it would also give a lot more flexibility over cycling)

      Tbh her reload is nit that their design have big dmg, her s2 just synergy well with her talent, tbh her range are quite a sht to me

      @@mustafaamraan8110 I actually don't think the range is an issue at all. If there's a way to use up her whole 4-long range, that's cool since she can remove elites before they can shoot back. If there isn't, she can use the 3 tiles in front of her (and ignore the 4-long range). If too much of her range is being used, it hurts her more since it exposes her to more enemies, thereby keeping her ammo lower on average.

    The fact that Hunter-class reload speed is PERMANENTLY capped at all times, even when being injected by Aak is a deal breaker for me.

      Yeah, it's one of those things where even if numerically and practically speaking they're still perfectly sound and capable, it just _feels_ unsatisfying.

      @@mercce6750 true, what's the point of creating subclass with gimmick when 2 months later you release 6* character who completely ignores said gimmick existence.
      - Oh, here are Mystic casters, they charge their attacks when there are no enemies in range for a big nuke, but be careful about those small dogs running around; and here is Ebenholz, who has Elite/Boss priority on his S3, or can be part-time laneholder with S2.
      - Look, Hunters. They do more damage when they shoot, but they need to reload their gun after spending ammo, and no, they will load ONE bullet at a time and if there is an enemy they will shoot that bullet and go back to load ONE bullet; and here is Ray, her S3 completely ignores subclass gimmick by FORCING FULL RELOAD and S2 returns all bullets shot near her summon with near non-existent respawn time.
      - Crusher guards. We have high ATK and HP but low ASPD and no def/res... so, they are kind of squishy without medic; And then we get Hoederer, who has 18% SHELTER AND self-sustain (if he can hit something)... just wow.

    Honestly tried using her in a Lore run of CV. That bonus range was nice for hitting clip, but otherwise she takes too long to reload for me.

      Yeah long reload and slow atk speed gimmick for extra dmg but her atk multiplier kinda low cuz hypergryph likes to make bad 5* a lot. I think she needs ignore def to be at least better.

    I'm a Coldshot enjoyer and I'm dying to get the Bunny Hunter as well, I really love the Hunter archetype.
    There are situations where she can shine and I can see the Hunter modules reducing reloading times in some way.

    Use her when you can't deploy an arts guard or your caster doesn't have enough range to kill heavy defender Typ enemies

    This video made me realize that Coldshot is basically a "Crusher Sniper"
    "Entirely DPH focused with limited DPS"
    "Do not use against spam mobs"
    "Can bypass High DEF thresholds"
    "Excels at singular targets"

    i think it's worth noting that her talent is a multiplicative buff while her trait and skills are additive which is great if she's on her own, but she will get less benefit the more buffs you give her (because she already have additive damage buff which most buffer give)
    Exia S3 on the other hand gives 10% multiplicative bonus but instead of more additive damage bonus she gets less attack interval and 5 shots in one, so she will get more benefit with buffs because she doesn't have an additive buffer om herself
    if only Coldshot's S2 is a nultiplicative buff then she'd be awesome, or at least she gets a talent multiplier

      Really? I thought both her trait and talent are multiplicative and it's her skill that's additive. At least, that's what it looks like at first glance.

      ​@@Razor4884 Im sure it's additive because it says "increase ATK to 120%" and not "deals 120% of ATK" also most case you'll have red number appearing after attack if it is from a multiplicative buff

    I think part of the reason Coldshot is considered bad to others is simply the fact that she has a play style that is a little more difficult to use, compared to all the other ops released around her where they are pretty to very easy to use. That’s not her own fault, it’s mainly the fault of HG simply making much more easy to use ops in the past two years.
    I’ve been using her a lot and I’d say she is a good unit when compared to her 5 star counterparts, and the trickiness of her kit makes her more charming and interesting to play in general. I think it’s a good thing for HG to sometimes release ops with trickier play style because the gameplay would get boring otherwise.

    A small correction: Coldshot's talent only seems to proc just from reloading if she has s2 active. I'm not entirely sure why this is; I suspect the talent may straight up lie and she needs to not be attacking for 3.5 seconds, or perhaps it counts her entire attack animation and not just firing the attack. Good video either way

      (You can tell her talent isn't activating because the total multiplier from her trait and talent will always trigger red numbers unless the enemy has some form of damage reduction)

      Yeah, you're right, although red numbers do take into account enemy defense, she should do it at least against slugs, and checking things again, I already knew that, because they say it in the PRTS wiki, but I second guessed myself and cut me saying "during the skill" from the recording. Welp, couldn't be me without one of those

      The talent isn't a lie nor a bug. It's just her normal reload interval is 1.6 seconds while her talent needs her to not attack for 2 seconds. When she's low on ammo, her pattern is like this: shoots in 1.6 interval > stops attacking to reload for a different 1.6 interval. 1.6 =/= 2. It's basically impossible to get her talent active when there's constant flow of enemies inside her range because she's always 0.4 seconds short from triggering the talent lol.
      Though her S2 offsets the reload interval to 2.4 seconds, allowing the effect to kick in at the cost of slower firing rate.

      ​@RewriteKuma She'd actually be more likely to deal red numbers vs. higher def lol
      Note that when she does a normal attack on an enemy with Def equal to about 60% of her base atk or higher (but not so high she does chip damage) the red numbers SHOULD appear (again, unless they have damage reduction like in high level IS4)
      (my knowledge of when red numbers appear is 100% conjecture so i might just be straight up wrong lol)

      @@mrfrog1794the slugs would just be an easy way to notice, but that's true, a lot of weird calcs happen when the enemies get close to the op base atk and you get the 50% extra for the red numbers

    One of the things that makes me most curious in rasing Coldshot is seeing if S1 would be good in some cases. The longer reload on S2 means that for enemies with less then 500 DEF (napkin math), S1 empty clip outperforms S2 empty clip. Obviously you wouldn't want Coldshot to target low DEF enemies, but based on enemy pathing, she might. And even more in IS, where your ops should be multifunctional.

      hum, true. they would have essentially the same up time percent, and you dont need the slow, the difference of losing the extra 40% atk could be worth it when having to deal with a faster waves of enemies.

    Imo just make them reload their bullets all at once while stop attacking for a few sec
    Then get an increase attack speed after their bullets are all reloaded to compensate for the lack of range

    i felt when i was using her in the event she could have used about extra 1 or 2 frontal range to make her stand out more being a real sniper, otherwise just a poor platinum or art sniper :/

    Id love a module with maybe like "25% chance to instantly reload shot" or even a chance for a fragile debuff for a few seconds playing on armour pierce or hollow point rounds

      we now know what her module will be, she'll get to reload 2 bullets at once if she has 0, and the talent number will increase a little bit, now she has more damage than firewatch all the time

    She's actually not really bad. Hunter sniper class is like Mystic caster class they are charging their attacks, people says Hunter class is not good because they have skill issue

    even if there was PVP, Coldshot would probably win against Eyjafjalla: she outranges her, can take her out in a couple shots, and they have comparable speed (Casters tend to have low enough DEF that she won't run out of her ammo clip)

    i really like gimick ops. But the coldshot gimick is clearly an afterthought, thats a dealbreaker for me. also funny how the class gimick is completely ignored by ray

      That's the case with some 6 star variants of 4-5 star experiments of a new class with spicy mechanic/gimmick/stats. Lower rarity Fighter guards are glass canons compared to 6 star Mountain which is a massive laneholder chad on s2 even without masteries. Same class downside(s) revamp goes for Mudrock and Penance vs Vulcan and that newly announced 4 star Juggernaut from cn server or Muelsyse vs Beanstalk and Blacknight. These 6 star examples feel more like a unique arechetype of their own than representatives of their respective class 🤔

    Maybe not crazy idea but maybe next module can be for for instant refill ammo when skill activation. How broken this might be, idk, but maybe putting a cooldown on this effect might work.

      Honestly, the best buff for her would arguably be reducing both the reload interval and the amount of time needed to trigger her talent down to 1 second each. With that, her talent will be active a lot more often and she'll reload somewhat faster (having in total of 2.6/3.4 as opposed to 3.2/4.0, not much but an improvement regardless) while still keeping the archetype as is.
      This is way too good for HG's module standard though so it probably won't happen lol.

      @@vice2792ocl Passenger is a six stars though and iirc CN were complaining really loud to buff him. What are the chances they'll do that for a 5 stars welfare that was meant to be a test subject for the archetype?
      This is the same company that didn't give anything meaningful for most 5 stars modules

      I can totally imagine a hunter sniper that loses a tile of range and shoots in a blast radius similar to splash caster. Tho i can also see such a op being niche like tomimi is.

    Her skill 2 is just sad (premastery) when she runs out of ammo since it just basically cuts the duration in half for nothing but a small slow

    The 6 star hunter is going to have to have a skill that stops it from attacking until ammo is full and does a big burst when fully loaded but also allows the skill to be prematurely deactivated incase you need to hit a target

    With her stats, attack speed, and range, would she be a good clone option for Muelsyse? Obviously there's better options, but currently my 'best' clone option is April. If Coldshot makes a good clone I'd definitely invest in her.

    she sure is a character that does ranged physical damage from high ground tiles
    other than that i feel nothing for her. like i feel that Sesa has a more interesting space in the cast than she does right now

    Anyway, nice review. I like how you use her voiceline and some hightlight in the opening after intro
    Even i raised her at E1 max for now, i can see her potential and i like to use her for her unique style
    Speaking about VA, i still choose JP Seiyuu than EN VA for asian games (especially from gacha) because of their professionalism how they feel the characters (respecting doesn't enought)
    And also 12:46 is my favorite

    If she reloaded the eight shots again before firing, that might be something, but as it, loading one shot, firing, loading one shot, firing is just bad design

    i see hunter mechanic is as an upgrade version of regular ammo mechanic "the skills end when the ammo all used up". Hunters can reload that ammo so the skills not end when the ammo all used up BUT, the execution looks not really good...
    The reload time is long, they use ammo even though they not using their skills (it make they have long downtime in their attack if they non-stop attacking units), and how little the amount of ammo they can store.
    Let's see what Coldshot do, like what you said, she deal huge DPH after reloading that make her total skill damage similar to Firewatch, all the negative point about the Hunter branch become improvement for her DPH because of her talent and her S2 make sure her talent always active after reloading.

      I didn't say her DPH is similar to Firewatch, her DPH is way higher than Firewatch, I said their total skill damage is similar

      @@RewriteKuma With how HG often made their new 6* operators kit is an improvement from their 5* and 4* operators with the same branch or mixing them all together and by seeing the future 6* Hunter Ray's kit, i think the next 5* or 4* operator from this branch will have kit focused on improving their reload mechanic, something like "give x% chance when reloading to gain 1 more ammo" and "increase reload speed if there's enemy in attack range by x%", i am surprised to get regular attack up talent because Ray have that kind of talent too. i hope they also create burst type operator for this branch based on failed Ray's S3, something like "When skill active reload all the ammo, increase attack by x%, next attack expanded all the ammo but get x% damage to self as recoil damage".

    Bro hunter designed are to deal with elite or boss, if it mob just use marksman, to me their problems is weird atk range, tbh her s2 just synergy well with her talent, tbh hunter downside the most is their atk range, unlike ray they give her talent that cover up sone range

    I just realized as you described Hunters...she's FUBAR.
    She wields a pump shotgun...without the spreadshot...and the other shotgun wielders DON'T need to reload so slowly, if at all, offskill.
    Also, I HATE shotguns.

    Coldshot's "Optimal" use reminds me so much of Santalla S2.
    Due to her ice pattern being "Left-Right-Middle", this makes her deployment direction matter and have its own pros and cons.
    - Up & Down makes her Horizontal drop much consistent due to its 3-grid occupation but has to face the Vertical placements.
    - Left (Specifically) makes her first cycle a little bit painful because it's far from her point-blank range but decent for "poking".
    - Right to me, is the most favored direction for due to it being the closest to her.
    Not sure though if this happens to other Doktah or no. So Santalla users, feel free to correct me on this part.

      I usually use santalla in a team with multiple cold units or when there are a lot of targets over a wide area, so I haven’t noticed that much difference.
