    I wish my mechanic only took 6 minutes to do this job like the video.
    At least now I know how the spare tire holder works!

    I did the rear tank on my '85 F250 a week ago. It was a pain in the butt. I hate those nylon fuel lines! The return line kinked on me as I wrestled with it. It hasn't leaked...yet. The only way to secure the filler hose to the tank was to snake a long 1/4" extension with a u-joint and 5/16" socket to the clamp through a hole in the frame. Just an FYI if anyone else out there attempts this job.

    Was wondering which wire from the harness sends the float info to the guage? I see on the video that the wire leading from the float itself is yellow. I would assume the harness info wire is yellow, but i wanted to ask a pro.

    I got a 1996 F150 5.8L dual tanks. Would I have any issues removing both tanks at the same time..? I dont know anything about watching the pressure gauge when changing the fuel pump assembly. Also when would you want to change your fuel filter..? what time of the process after changing the fuel pumps... Sorry if it may sound confusing.

      Thank you so much for clarifying, you may have posted it and I have not found it, but do you have a video of how to connect a fuel pressure gauge on the test fitting..? Also where do you think I can find the exact specs for what my fuel pressure should be..?

    ANOTHER QUESTION?? WHY AFTER i INSTALLED THE FUEL PUMP THE GAS GUAGE READS FULL AND WON'T MOVE???

    I have a 1992 ford F-150 with the 302 and it has a huge hesitation when it idles. The rpm goes nuts until the motor dies after a couple seconds. However, it pretty much always starts back, until it dies again. There is also the same problem when I press the gas pedal (whether i'm driving or on neutral), as if the motor wasn't getting enough gas and again the rpms are going crazy, going from 1000 to 3000 and back down to 750 in a second.
    I replaced the TPS sensor, cleaned the IAC vavle, the throttle body, replaced the gas filter and now I'm starting to think it's the gas pump. My concern is that it has the same problem whether I turn on the front tank or on the back tank. It's almost impossible that both pumps went bad at the same time (if there is two pumps) so my problem would be somewhere else. What do you think? Is there a main pump for my Ford model and year or is there a pump in each tank?
    This problem is driving nuts, I've put a lot of money in it and it was my father in law's truck I'd like to keep it running.
    Thank you.

    do some fuel pumps have a fuel float inside the fuel pump.I just bought a airtex fuel pump and hanger unit for 1994 Ford f-250 4x2 with the 4.9 I-6 engine.and I there wasn't a sending unit to replace,Advanced auto guy, said that some didn't have a outside float? the old one didn't have one,but somebody's been in there before,so I don't kno

    I have a 1997 F-350 with dual tanks, is the front tank pump the main pump that feeds the engine or is there a separate pump between the filter and the engine? Or could it be mounted on the engine like a mechanical pump?

    • @ArtOfLuuv
      @ArtOfLuuv 8 лет назад

      We replaced the front pump, and it still doesn't start. We are starting to believe it could be an electrical problem.

    I bought my 1990 last summer and noticed the rear tank was gone and all the hoses hanging over the axle I can't imagine why anyone would do that but it is what it is i will replace. The front and now has a bad pump so may do both at the same time.

      I don't see why you couldn't replace the front tanks pump and reinstall the rear tank assembly at the same time.

    Dude, you have ruined this instructional video with that disco music crap. We wouldn't even be watching this if we didn't need to concentrate fully and remember everything.
    You made it impossible to concentrate. Earth to mechanic: There's a reason why they didn't pipe disco music into school classrooms - because it's distracting and interferes with the learning process.
