The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band were young upstarts in 1971 when they asked the elders of country music to participate in the "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" album. Thanks to them, a whole generation, myself included, was introduced to so much great music we never would have heard if it hadn't been for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Now they are the elders, and interest in old time country music is thriving. The circle remains unbroken.
I picked up the Circle album in the summer of 74......where I was working, the Grand Canyon national park, we had no tv, fm radio, and only am radio from far away...but a great record store in Flagstaff..0h learned a lot from listening to them....along with Doc Watson, John Hartford, thanks to the Dirt Band, and John McEuen.
This is a perfect example of why large bluegrass jam gatherings end up sounding like a train wreck. Even seasoned bluegrass musicians are fucking up here with so many people. Lol

Surprised at Bernie Leadon, a founding memeber of Eagles as well as a very short member of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
A lot of well-known names in that lineup.
