Yugoslavia doesn't exist anymore, Doug. Jokic is Serbian.
As for the MVP conversation, the issue has always been how to define "most valuable". When Derrick Rose won the MVP, was he actually the best player in the league? Probably not. But the winning impact he had on his team made him arguably the most valuable. And so who gets the MVP has always depended on how voters weigh those two aspects.
That said, are there also politics involved? Probably. One can only speculate, and of course Kendrick's speculation that race was a factor is controversial, but who knows. I wouldn't play the reverse racism card on him, though. Not when you've got so many white guys today complaining about non-white people invading their dominant spaces in the form of "forced diversity". And when MJ is still the only black team owner in a majority black player league.
Whatever skepticism Jokic is facing from some black players for being white, he's certainly not being denied opportunties, and he's already got two MVP awards. He'll prove his merit by someday leading his team to a title, or not. Bird got respect for winning, Dirk got respect for winning, and Nash, unfortunately, failed to win. That's why some still question Nash whereas nobody questions Bird or Dirk. If Jokic wins a historic third MVP in a row, the expectations for him will increase, and so too will the scrutiny for not being a champion yet. That's just the way it goes.

Doug is absolutely RIGHT! That is what happens when this new generation tweet first and do their homework later. The league has been very consistent as far as the mvp votings. 1987 season Magic won mvp with 19ppg and 11.9 asts. Who was 2nd?? MJ with 35ppg but his team was far behind. See how similar the numbers are to Kobe 35ppg and Nash 18ppg and 11 asts in 2006!!! Moreover why are we even debating Kobe vs Nash in 2006, when Kobe finished 4th in mvp voting. LeBron was 2nd and Dirk 3rd. So why is Perkins bringing up unfairness towards Kobe when they voted Lebron and Dirk even higher?? Go look it up.
Oh and by the way I am not hating on Kobe, I actually believe he is the better than all of them! But Doug is absolutely right.

nope... there's no "moving goalpost"... that's just desperation and futile attempt of Embiid/Giannis stans to create fake narratives and murky the waters.

I suggest you go to basketball reference and check the stats... check the efficiency just for fun :)
Also, check the defensive stats (especially steals+blocks+deflections) - you might be surprised.

No sir, those early Phoenix Suns squads were loaded with Talent. While none of them will probably make the Hall of Fame, those guys Steve Nash played with in the early 2000s were legit. You had Shawn Marion, Leandro Barbosa, Raja Bell, Boris Diaw. I haven't even mentioned Amar'e Stoudemire, who was basically dunking on the whole league his first several years. Let's not talk like Steve Nash was playing with chopped liver. I do think perk was reaching a bit when he tried to bring the race element into the MVP award.

Let’s say for argument sake. They choose Nikola Jokić to win the regular season MVP. Let’s say Adam Silver pulled the strings and wanted Jokić to win. Do know why? Mr. Perkins because the NBA is a global sport. NBA is more popular than the NFL, MLB and any other American organised sports in Europe and Asia.
So of course it will make sense for the NBA to push the European based players in the spotlight. To garner more views, audiences and ad money from these European state. Did you know in Lithuania the national sport is basketball.
Similar how Michael Jordan was put in the spotlight in the 80s and 90s. He transformed this game from a national spectacle to a global phenomenon. All other players before couldn’t have done it.
Lastly Nikola Jokić is a beast of a player. How is a big man averaging a triple double this season. Giannis is a monster of a player. NBA champion. Back to back MVPs and defense player of the year. Luka Doncic is by far one of the most skilled NBA player today. He isn’t even that athletic. But he has got basketball IQ. Why the American are playing college basketball and high school basketball in their teens. Luka was playing against grown professionally players by the time he was 16.
White or black it don’t matter. What matter is how the NBA can remain relevant and successful.
