I'm in the Strahd campaign and just hit lv 5 with my Gloomstalker. I picked human and when with Piercer feat at lv 1. Ability score increase at lv 4 to get my Dex to 18 and Con to 16. I'm fine without sharpshooter for now. I plan on taking at least 4 levels in Fighter, but I'm going with Echo Knight. That just seems like too much fun. I might go 1 lv dip into Forge Domain so I can have a +1 weapon. I've heard it can be challenging getting +1 weapons in Curse of Strahd. If not, maybe War Domain for more attacks since I have a +3 in WIS. I'd be an attacking machine. Me in Nova round: 1. Dread Ambusher Attack 2. Normal Attack 3. Extra Attack 4. War Domain Attack 5. Echo's Unleash Incarnation Attack Only thing I'm not clear on is would Action surge allow me to do this all again, or just the normal Attack and Extra attack?
Man I love GS! I have different plans for my character... I feel your bad luck with dice so my first pick was Elven Accuracy (Wood Elf) and now that I am at lv 5 don't really know if next lv will be Fighter, Twilight Cleric, Rogue or going straight Ranger...man, so many cool options...
So my DM does not allow Eberron or Wildemount and limits Goodberry. Plus I just prefer longbow over hand crossbow for fantasy reasons as well as more versatility in ASI and bonus action (such as the steady aim without losing the bonus action attack, which is more valuable otherwise) so my build with bugbear would be this: Level 1: Bugbear, Ranger: Str: 8, Dex 15 (+2), Constitution 15 , Intelligence 8, Wisdom 15 (+1), Charisma 8. Deft Explorer: Canny: Stealth (it's what you do lol, perception is also decent), Favored Foe (free lesser hunter's mark to conserve spell slots, or for lesser combats) Level 2: Archery fighting Style, Spells: Hunter's Mark, Absorb Elements Level 3: Gloomstalker Conclave, Primal Awareness. Spell: Zephyr Strike. (in case darkness is out of reach, get out of melee, advantage on the third attack) Level 4: Sharpshooter Feat. (Getting this online earlier instead of crossbow expert is stronger imho) Level 5: Spell: Pass Without a Trace. Level 6: Fighter 1, superior technique fighting style: Ambusher (more consistent early advantage, if you notice you are always getting it anyway then precision attack) Level 7: Fighter 2 Level 8: Fighter 3, Battlemaster. Techniques Goading Attack (not menacing attack as ideally you would be invisible so wouldn't work as well), Precision Attack/Ambusher, Trip Attack ( For melee allies as last attack or to knock non levitate flying out of the sky) Level 9: Fighter 4, Piercer Feat. (Bit more damage on average plus stronger crits and rounds out the ASI, can also go crossbow expert now and switch to hand crossbow if prefer) From there it is indeed 4 levels assassin rogue or more gloomstalker ranger as the next features for gloomstalker are also good. Really depends on how much darkness and surprise rounds your dm "allows" the less darkness and more surprise rounds the more assassin rogue and vice versa. ASI's will be 2 dex for level 12/13. Level 16 Resilient Con (rounding it out plus then you have all 3 major saves as proficient). After that Alert or Lucky if you get to 20 lol.
Love your videos man. Thanks

All of those work. It can go a lot of different directions

Where do I find gloom stalker? Is it in the players handbook?
XGtE
Can we have a build along the theme of luck?
Hmm I could maybe think of something. You mean like out the riskiest stuff I can find on one build and then if it works then we pop off?
A character that is all about luck- character traits, feats, deity, background etc. as you see fit.@@DapperSnapperGaming
