I’m a forensic pathologist and I thought she was excellent.
And you would know ! It’s a fascinating field I would think.
Thanks for the insight.... she was excellent!
Thank you for your work. It's essential and vital. Science does not lie and neither do numbers. Much respect to you. Absolutely invaluable
Thank you for your service ❤️
My brother said the same thing
Tammie had no history of heart disease, congestive heart failure or a seizure disorder. Also dead bodies don’t roll off beds.
The lividity proved that. They can't prove how her airway was cut off. Suggestion of smothering, the prosecutor never asked if there were fibers in her airway, would have been slam dunk. Sitting on her chest would have produced more than one small bruise marked. Only Houdini could figure this out.
They can roll off! As the body bloats it can shift, starting the fluids rolling in one direction or another. It does take many days , and depends on temp in room.
@@jcfanonly Thanks! They couldn't even tell approx. time of death. No mention of liver temperature to back track time. LE and coroner botched this from the beginning on top of Idaho does not require autopsy for any reason.....
After listening to this testimony, I keep thinking about how Chad described her feet being tangled in the sheets, which makes me feel even more confident she was smothered in some way. I would imagine her feet moving around a lot, which could explain her feet being wrapped in the sheets. Imo anyway.
@@damagdpets7559 That is a scary way to run a county or state. I wonder just how many people kill their spouses and het away with it. Geez! If a person has any medical history and seeing a doctor for it, they do not even consider investigating. Mighty convenient.
Best line “would it be fair to say dead bodies don’t generally fall out of bed!” 👀
😂😂
I know… cold ones…his alibi implies he murdered her, slept beside her till ice cold, then kicked her out of bed, then said ‘get up lazy’- omg
@margaretschultz8159 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
lol
Yes, Ms. Marsden sealed the deal on the death of Tammy Daybell. She left no wiggle room to dispute the cause of death. She was articulate, easily understood and spoke to her abilities with vast knowledge, experience and confidence.
Dr Marsden. She earned that title.
Absolutely true!
Yes, I agree…. She was MUCH easier to understand than the ME that was on the stand last week or the week before…
Dr. Marsden also responded to questions from both the prosecution and the defense with complete confidence and no evidence of bias towards either. Ideal witness.
This prosecutor is great...the way she asks her questions leaves very little room for objections...
and when there is an objection that is sustained by the judge, she asks a the same question in a different way without even having to think about it. She is the best I’ve ever seen in any trial I’ve watched.
The elected coroner system Is stupid
Made sense in 1884, 1924. Not in 2024.
Americans are a bit too in love with elected offices. Some states even elect public defenders. Madness 😅
So weird that it’s even a thing
It’s cheaper, much cheaper. And lots of people, especially the Q-anon type folks, have a pathological distrust of experts.
I live in the uk and the idea of anyone not getting an autopsy after suddenly dying is absolute MADNESS to me. Everyone gets an autopsy unless they're elderly with extreme health issues with a DNR.
Lindsey Blake is INCREDIBLE and this case proves that the elected coroners should not be a thing! Ever!
When my brother was murdered at work as he and his boss were closing up her business for the day on the evening of 12/21/2000, the coroner showed up(finally), leaned over the counter and declared that my brother was shot in the back of his head(even though both he & his boss were facing the armed robbers with their hands and arms raised straight up over their heads). The Detectives on scene knew that the coroner was 100% wrong and that my brother was shot directly in his heart, and after the MEDICAL Examiner finished my brother’s autopsy, the ONLY bullet wound found was in his heart, NO “back of his head wound”. I do not think highly of any coroners, I do not care who they are be they elected or non-elected.
I forgot to mention that the murderers were found and arrested on 12/25/2000 and are still in prison. They pled guilty and on their Sentencing day, they were both in the courtroom together and I faced them both for my Victims Impact Statement.
@@Tackleboxandfishingpolesso sorry for such a terrible loss and for your horrible experience with the coroner. ❤️🙏🏼
It does sound like it was a medical examiner that caught the very bad original call by the coroner. Proving that there are obviously incompetent people in every position but having people with basically no medical training making these very serious medical calls is unbelievable!
I've known 3 coroner's that had zero medical training. Actually never in medical field !
@@janetbusch6517 that’s scary!!
Prosecution hits it out of the ballpark
To me, Prior comes off as a bully. He thought the M.E. looked like a young lady so he tried to paint her as inexperienced. I'm glad she kept her cool and showed him.
Yes I agree with you, he thought he could intimidate her and get her flustered. She was excellent and stayed composed throughout. Lindsey was excellent on her re-direct, she reminds me a bit of Camille Vasquez who defended Depp. Sharp as a razor.
Right! When the trial first started, it was very evident. I was so angry at him accusing the first police officer, and stating that “isn’t it true that you only looked at Chad in this case. That you never looked at other possibilities, that you had made up your mind at that time!”
I came out of my seat when he said that! I was screaming at the prosecutor and judge, for not stopping him from giving leading, preclusion questions!
well, its what you gotta do when being a defender sadly enough. if the prosecutions expert witness slays u gotta play into some weird wedge issue with the jury like boomer men's distaste of knowledgable young women, etc, especially in utah.
@@jcfanonlyoh wow they didnt object?
Presto Freak: You're a Fellow, how many autopsies have you performed?
Ms. Marsden: hold my beer and off she goes: over 500 !! BAM
She's slaying this testimony. Tell us Chud Dumbell is guilty without telling us he's guilty.
Chud Dumbell 🤣😂😂
IDAHO SHOULD SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER REPLACING CORONERS WITH MEDICAL EXAMINERS.
THIS CASE SHOULD POINT OUT THE WEAKNESS OF HAVING A CORONER VS. A MEDICAL EXAMINER.
THEY RISK HAVING A REPEAT OF THIS CASE IN THE FUTURE.
That’s what they do in FL per another’s comment. Prob many other states.
God knows how many murders by smarter people went unchecked because of this system
We have the same coroner system in SC.
There is no competition. They work in tandem... very different roles... check and balance.
or vetting your coroners...people just elected her in based off of what work history and resume?
🎯@The lawyer you know,Peter when the trial first started John/Chad seemed confident,To see them both deflate with every witness is absolutely awesome!
I feel like Prior attempts to confuse jury in order to create doubt but If I’m on that jury , his chaos doesn’t create doubt, it creates frustration.. towards him. Prior’s points imo often get lost in the confusion.
Also, I wouldn't trust a word he says. The state has proved to me he's a liar & manipulator.
@@cwhiteside5662 same. For it was when the realtor got up there and said you should know it's your house when arguing about the stairs. That's when I knew he was a damn liar like Chad.
Totally agree!!!

He discredits himself.
Blake is the best out of the Prosecution team in my opinion. She never leaves anything out, and she makes sure she asks questions before defense. Blake definitely finishes with an impact
I think her answer about the bruises was succinct and clear.
Every county should have a medical examiner. If not, then every unattended death should require an autopsy.
Think about how many individuals have possibly gotten away with murdering a family member at home, knowing an uneducated coroner can be misled by few simple comments regarding the decadent recent state of health.
Lindsey Blake is awesome..she asks questions that witness can answer to the point. She always has a come back when Prior crosses and makes an impact to the jury
She’s so clear and concise 💯
right. Prior doesn't seem like he could ask for fries in a drive-thru without added narrative. 'would it surprise you to know that i wanted ketchup as well?' 'does it recollect your memory to show you that i am the second car in line?' 'is it correct that today is tuesday, but could be wednesday in other countries?' ask a specific 'to the case' question!!!

I think the assistant medical examiner blew the defense away too. Great witness for the prosecution.
Dead bodies don’t roll out of bed was a mic drop! 🎤
I am a nurse. He killed her. He’s guilty
I am as well and I agree. The defense attny 'intimating' that a Fellow isn't a fully qualified physician and that she was an amateur was laughable & infuriating.
Agree. I’m an RN also. Seen hundreds of bodies immediately after death, He smothered her. Horrendous, incredible waste of an evil man who continues to breathe the air he robbed from Tammy.
That simple, I feel that all of this discussion is absolutely unnecessary. Guilty. Not wasting my time on this trial...
These comments make my skin prickle. It’s powerful to hear opinions like these from professional nurses. Poor Tammy. She seems to have tried so hard to be a good mom and wife. She deserved so much better.
I am a nurse too. He definitely killed her.
RE Bruising. You missed it: this Medical examiner did provide further detail about the bruises. She explained that she did microscopic examination of the bruising and she found heavy blood flow. She said this means the bruises were severe (violence) and that they were perimortem which means they were caused within a couple of hours before death. (I thought Blake's re-direct was truly masterful.)
Bingo!
Ooh! I missed that! Thank you!
Regarding Prior, I always thought you shouldn’t ask questions you didn’t already know the answers to. He was blindsided by so many of his assumptions.
I thought this was law 101. We hear it all the time.
If my husband is running around saying im going to die. Im getting the hell away from him, and filing a domestic violence petition against him immediately.
Then it is very probable that you are not an obedient LDS wife, raised to serve her husband without questioning him.
Also, a few people have testified that Tammy didn't know about Chad's "early death" predictions for her. He knew who to tell and who not to tell about it.
@@gaiagreen2690 I'm LDS, and a wife, and I agree 100% with spookshow's comment above. What's more, I'd be packing (luggage and heat). LDS women are not anywhere near as meek and obedient as the ignorant masses seem to think.
@@sonlighter01good. I know so little about LDS, and I’m glad to see that most wouldn’t have taken this sitting down. ❤
It’s so sad to see both this case and the Ruby Franke one. I think they definitely cast a shadow on LDS, since we already don’t have a good understanding of the faith.
@@athenarocks7657 Thank you for you comment. It is difficult to see a group of people misjudged (IMO) by the actions of a few infamous in the news. When commenters say that "the Church" or LDS people in general are trying to cover for these people, or help them get away with their crimes, I just have to laugh. I think LDS people would most want them to be exposed and punished, because they make everyone else look bad! (In addition to because of the horrible things they have done, of course.)
Why do you think Tammie knew about this?
Flawless witness and a stud prosecutor digging the grave for the gravedigger!
I heard this live and it was great when this happened! The last question from the Prosecution is like a mic drop!!!!
I’ll go there to see. This lawyer always talks way more than necessary. The FF is irritating. (I still watch though)😊
The doctor was spot on, she answered all questions honestly and didn't elaborate. She was a remarkable witness and believable.
I thought the gps data on Alex was also another huge nail in the proverbial coffin. The data points in the night Tylee was presumably killed was what I’ve been waiting to see. Made me think of Tylee, and I got very sad thinking about her last moments alive. My heart aches for her still. She was a victim of Lori her entire short beautiful life.
I listen to the trial but Peter’s recaps help me process everything.
Totally agree! 😊
@peanutbutter46464 me too :) he is excellent!
I love his recaps. His facial expressions crack me up😂😂
Same. I like having a lawyer perspective. I notice things I wouldn't have otherwise
I appreciate Peter’s take which is why I subscribed … alas, I’m finding that I miss words while listening to the testimonies sped up … which is annoying.
She was good a explaining medical topics to not medical jury or watchers.
This woman is so excellent in Whst she does…and Lindsey Blake is perfect. GUILTY AS CHARGED…and all the people said AMEN.
AMEN!
Yes AMEN sandy.
When I think about the kids and what they must have gone through, it sickens me. Not to mention Tammy and Charles.
Aaaa-men! 🔥
I LOVE BLAKE!!!! SHE IS OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!
This witness was great and Lindsey Blake is AWESOME!
I think the jury has more than enough to find Chad guilty. Prior can try but he won't convince the jury!
I love watching this prosecutor too. She’s so engaging. You can follower her line of questioning and she is so methodical and purposeful in what she asks.
When you think with your “storm” your ship will eventually sink.
Never commit a felony… and especially, never commit a felony in Fremont County! Lindsay Blake is extremely competent.
Yes, a big boost for the state's case with Lindsey Blake's questioning of Dr. Marsden. "Justice for Tylee, J.J. and Tammy" has been a rallying cry for several years now. It felt like a major step was taken today toward that end. I don't see how Prior is going get a jury to doubt Dr. Marsden's reliability as a witness or convince the jury that was not murdered.
If I were on the jury, my mind would be on the question, "Who stood to gain from Tammy's death?"
He's sitting across the room from me.
Yes
Justice for Charles also
Chads an idiot and I believe a killer. Poor Tammy ,and the kids didn't stand a chance with all those pathetic idiots
I was looking forward to your review of this testimony. I watched it live yesterday, and I was blown away at how good this witness was. The absolute best part was when Prior thought he had his ‘gotcha’ moment with the questions he asked (while he was facing the jury), and all it turned out to be was ashes in his mouth and mud on his face.
Absolutely LOVE, LOVE Lindsey Blake.
Honestly the best pros. I've ever seen .I have watched many trials.
I also not only love her cut and dry questions, but also the way she stops between each question given and lets the answer sink into the jury's mind and lets them think about the answer..
An EXCELLENT prosecutor!
Won't be surprised to see more of her in trials in Idaho.
I just had a couple seizures and I was not allowed to drive. If Tammy had seizures her friends would know.
Chad thought he was so charismatic that he could make up lies and people would accept them. Anyone with a little medical background knows everything he said about her death and her health before her death sounds dumb.

This was huge ouch for defense! Medical Experts was absolutely amazing and prosecutor was on fire.
Yep..Right On.
As someone who was being persuaded by JP, despite following the case for the last what 2-4 years. I was extremely pleased with the State today. This is what I was waiting for.
How could you possibly believe anything Prior has said? Are you crazy? You have not followed the case closely enough then for the 2-4 yrs as you say. I have sat on many jurys in New York, and we would have eaten you up and spit you out.
After following the case for that long, JP was able to persuade you? I get being disappointed with Prosecution knowing the case the way we do but can't say he could persuade me.
I like how Lindsay summarizes at the end of redirect
The biggest mistake Chud made was getting married again so soon after killing his wife. If he had waited a bit it would not have been so suspicious! The STORM was looming!
Ha seriously! He could’ve waited at least 6 months but 2 weeks sends alarms 🚨 Evil never Prevails

I enjoy the entertainment of that level of stupidity! If they had dumped the kids bodies elsewhere also we may have been in a forever kids are safe monologue. But luckily all those past lives together didn’t make them smarter
This witness clarified a lot of information for me!!!!!!!
The ME did an excellent job of explaining the technical, medical components in terms the jury could understand. The other ME used medical terms as the reasoning and required medical understanding to realize the significance of the testimony. This was a huge testimony for the State.
Congratulations Peter & team 🎉 350K !!!
Prior not helping his case
@@aldomarycWhat does that have to do with subscribers?
Love Lindsay Blake! She rocks. I don’t see how the jury could not arrive at a guilty verdict. This dud is guilty as sin.
She does explain the bruises and why they were caused shortly before death. They looked at pieces of them under a microscope and the body had not began the inflammatory response needed to heal bruises. They couldnt have been there for days before she passed.
Very True. Once the heart stops the body just lays there. No rolling off the bed. She never was out of bed period. Like someone else said Chad might of tried to move the body and his kid came home. he lied about Tammy coughing n throwing up. Did they investigate about her throwing up next to the bed ??
Something was said about a towel was laying there.
@@debijo5288 the first person called to attend the death said they used it to wipe the foam from her mouth. Garth used it to clear the foam first.
I think that the medical examiner was a fantastic witness. She was direct and confident with her answers. She gave just enough info to be clear and avoided making ambiguous statements that Prior could pick apart. The prosecution also did a great job of asking the right questions that enabled her to testify so well.
I made sure that Oregon was a medical examiner state. I don’t understand using people with no real training. I don’t understand the job not having medical requirements.
LDS it seems
Chad murdered his wife with Alex. Psychopath and liar among us.

Yes
There is NO doubt in my mind he killed her!!!
Full sentences and thoughts plz. Thank you 🥰
I feel like the medical examiner did a great job showing alone or with Alex, either way, Chad did it. Prior stepped in it so badly.
He's guilty AF. There's no doubt at all.
Peter, the ME explained why the bruises were just before or at the time of death. You must have missed that testimony. It was perfectly explained.
Chad refused to have his name on Tammy's headstone and had her buried away from where her family live. I wonder what the 5 children think about this. My heart breaks for them when they realise their father is a killer, took their mother and how they now have no parents and a horrible family history to pass down the line.
To me - much of Prior’s cross where he thinks he’s scoring big points - end up strengthening and enforcing Prosecution’s evidence and enforcing Daybell’s guilt.
Absolutely
Pryor is drunk on his own delusion.
@@gaiagreen2690 he reminds me SO MUCH of his own client Chad … is it just me?!
I think he also underestimates the intelligence of any female witnesses (or prosecutors). His misogyny is coming back to bite him hard!
Older bruising shows inflammatory cells going into clean up the blood leakage. No inflammatory cells found means bruises occured at time of death. No time for inflammatory response to occur. Previous M. E. explained that.
Plus bruises don’t form when the heart stops beating.
I really enjoy listening to Ms. Blake, she keeps me interested, she is respectful, and she knows how to ask questions. ❤
And theres the fact that Tammy was taking prescribed anti-depression medicine. Normally a doctor has to see you to renew your prescription. So Chad saying he couldnt get her to see a docyor is definitely a lie. When she went for renew prescription check-up they would have taken her blood pressure, maybe ordered blood work talked to her about her health, etc. I dont know why the doctor ordering her prescription wasnt called to testify.
?
To not violate the medical rights of the deceased. Medical records are well protected by various laws and regulations and doctors are hindered from testifying unless specific people tied to the deceased give permission yet even then it is incredibly limited and difficult for those to receive
Wouldn't Tammy have a Dr. Check her to see if she was able do the the 5k or the run ??
Not necessarily though. Personally I have been taking Prozac for years and always get my prescription renewed with a quick phone call asking for it. I don't know if that's just the case because my GP is very busy but that's always been my experience
In South Africa you get a 6 months script so only renew again after 6 months and can sometimes just email for new script. Some doctors prefer to see you after the 6 months.
Because they have already had plenty of testimony about checking Tammy's bruises from the inside not just externally. And they came to the conclusion that those were fresh and there was no time for the body to send whatever it sends over to that bruise for healing
I agree with you. Lindsey Blake is the best prosecutor I’ve watched. She did an awesome job in Lori’s trial and she’s definitely rocking it with Chad as well.
MEDICALLY speaking - M.E. Was saying won’t see bruising after death = meaning won’t create bruised ( like from EMTs moving body) because you have to have heart pumping and person alive to create bruise.
You will see old bruises because the blood was already leaked into the tissues.
and some bruising won't show up until a couple of days later.
@@macca777 that’s only because very slow leakage and movement of blood while alive. Not after death. Her bruises were obtained when alive. Chad and his family can’t change science of it.

@@peanutbutter46464that’s right!
I think the prosecution is unveiling the story of each victims murder very methodically and lay friendly.
Excellent breakdown Peter! As a retired critical care RN who worked in a cardiopulmonary icu for 10 years, i think john prior bit off more than he could chew with this audience. Most attorneys ive seen are not extremely familiar with the depth and complexity of the human body, how it works, and what kind of information can be obtained from tissue samples, especially postmortem. This was an excellent witness and John Prior not only opened the door wide open, he held it open for Lindsey Blake to walk through while bringing the witness with her, easily sealing the prosecution's case for leaving little, if any, doubt that Chad was the person guilty of Tammy's death.
I 100% agree. He could have done a little research on Google for hello sake before opening his mouth. I also work in Cardiology. (Cath Lab) 10 years
Blake is outstanding! The forensic pathologist was clear and easy to understand. Prior keeps harping on about all the marks they didn't find on Tammy if she was asphyxiated. I thought this witness explaining that she could have been asphyxiated with absolutely no marks was powerful. Prior ate crow today. There's no way the jury isn't going to find Chad guilty.
She was fantastic, articulate!
A week ago I thought he may "get away " with Tammy. Today's testimony changed that. It was almost enjoyable to watch. Thank you for all you do for this community! - Marie Dalton
This in my opinion was an excellent witness! Ms. Marsden definitely sealed the deal for Chad! She testified with absolute certainty and ruled out every single possible scenario brought up by Prior, in fact, I think that Prior actually caused her to explain with a certainty that this was in fact, asphyxia by homicide! I also love this prosecutor! She is sharp, concise, to the point and always hammers home the closing that the state needs! Kudos to Lindsay Blake, she is an excellent prosecutor!
The bruises were dissected so they confirmed there was definitely bleeding into the tissue. Shortly after a bruise is caused, (within an hour or two) the body’s natural healing process releases specialized blood cells (macrophages) and other substances into the bruised tissue to ‘clean it up.’ At this time there will be signs of inflammation in the bruised tissue, which were not present at autopsy for Tammy’s bruises, therefore they could tell that she received them in close proximity to her time of death.
💯 Excellent witness! And Brava, Lindsay Blake!
If I were on that jury, I would be very convinced by the medical examiners testimony. Besides the lack of education and experience held by the coroner, the coroner also did not have any knowledge of suspicious circumstances such as missing children, the affair and immediate remarriage.
Defensive wounds on right arm
The questions Ms Blake asked this great witness put the final nail in Chubs casket. He knows he done.
Your absolutely correct! 😅
LOL Chubs ... I love it!
Oh yeah. This doc is fabulous
Lindsey Blake absolutely NAILED it!
she did mention that they cut the bruised skin out, looked at it under a microscope, and were able to see that it was brand new bruises that happened immediate prior to death and didn't have time to swell up after inception of the bruise or start healing.
I agree with Peter! Mrs. Lindsey Blake is my favourite lawyer so far.
The anemia argument is so stupid. Every woman I've known has been diagnosed with anemia at one time or another. It's common. We bleed (real women). And women don't die of menopause. Sheesh.
I once took care of a guy who’d been working at a golf course and nearly passed out. He had a slow bleed and when admitted had a hemoglobin of 4 something. Can’t remember how much blood (packed red blood cells) we transfused him with.
I just sure hope all the jurors are smart and alert enough to stay on top of everything…
Find Chad Guilty of all the crimes.
It doesn’t matter even 1 or 2 of the evidence points by the prosecution is enough for a juror to convict, dude is done for regardless, I just feel like Lori should have gotten the death penalty
Heavy lungs answer on re-direct: BOOM 💥💥💥
In my opinion, the Medical Examiner’s testimony hammered the nail right into the Guilty Verdict. She was excellent, extremely articulate. This prosecutor by the way is outstanding. I am very impressed by the prosecution team and the tremendous effort put forth by the state of Idaho to capture every angle of this case with their research , all of the professionals hired, as well as the FBI.
She’s a great witness
Suggesting that more than one person was involved in creating Tammy's death is important, and could perhaps also be brought up regarding the children's deaths.
My brother is a coroner in WA State. He said that the coroner on this case did not do her job. My brother said that anyone that young, dying at home…. ALWAYS does an autopsy. My brother has been a coroner for 40 years
Not true everywhere. I was an ER nurse for 30 years. Any person who had been in the hospital for under 24 hours was a coroner call. In KY we also have the elected coroner system, I can remember a fairly young man who came in in full cardiac arrest, he had a few young kids, no previous history. The coroner called the Medical examiner, who is located in our state capitol btw, practically begged for an autopsy. He didn’t suspect foul play, but, for medical history in case of anything genetic for the kids. The M.E. Refused, saying that was not reasonable. Our coroner pushed it hard, but it was a no. The family was pretty upset, but, there was nothing they could do. We are pretty rural, I suppose the larger cities have their own medical examiners, but, I don’t know this.
Prior accidentally made sure the jury knew that Tammy's death was long and painful.
Thank you, Peter, for these recaps. Because of you I understand so much more than I could on my own. I appreciate you.
I love that you keep the analysis short and to the point. I can't watch 2 or more hours of rambling commentary. You nail it, Peter. Thanks so much.
I’m pretty sure if Tammy had really had a seizure completely out of the blue a family member would have called an ambulance.Seizures are terrifying for anyone who hasn’t witnessed one before
I really appreciate your insight on both this and Karen Reed trials. I've been following both pretty closely and come here to listen to your take every night. I really enjoy your recaps! ❤

She rocked it. A law and Order script couldn't of done it better..hes going down
I absolutely love these prosecutors and the judge it's one of the most respectful trials I've ever watched ..Chad dosent have a hope and a prayer the evidence is so overwhelming I think the best JP can do is try to save his client from the death penalty
There's actually a name for this "classic" smothering technique. It's called "burking". You can look it up. Its a very old technique that's been around for hundreds of years. The name comes from a specific case by a guy surnamed Burke who used the technique in his murders during the 19th Century.
Burke and Hare, they murdered people to sell to doctors who wanted more knowledge about anatomy etc. one of them was hanged. Not sure which. It happened in Edinburgh, Scotland during a time all kinds of medical advances were being made.
I wait for your take on this case!
