- Rare Live in Warsaw 1991 No Need to further describe anymore about Grappelli simply good tune & well played. Always reminds me what a musician should play and could play on stage
I saw Stephane live, once, in San Francisco. I set out to be critical, to be jaded --- but he melted my heart. Then I was allowed to slip backstage to meet him, and he was so gracious and approachable. I can't see how anyone could not like this (even if the particular style of music isn't one's favorite)!
He makes the violin speak so beautifully. I’ve loved his music for years because you can feel it.
Saw him at Lancaster university many years ago - diz dizley on guitar -great evening
HE WAS MAGICIAN PRETENDING TO BE A JAZZ FIDDLER.
IN FACT HE WAS BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.
LEFT U EXTREMELY SHAKEN UP.
AFTER U LEFT WHEN HE WAS FINISHED ALL THE STREET LIGHTS SUDDENLY APPEARED
IT IS CALLED HYPNOTIZATION.
Which venue?
I was in San Francisco at that concert too in the 70’s…marvellous memory!
Stephan brought this tour to Australia and I was lucky enough to see it. Still the best concert I've ever seen. A pure unadulterated privilege.
Stephane Grappelli had something that very few musicians have - he got better as he got older.
Hans Eekhoff yes...its amazing
Hans Eekhoff oh really I thought he’d get worse thought more experience he got playing the violin
@Carlos Sanchez lmaoooo but true some people start to fall off if they start to go senile
@@GameLang like Heifetz for example!!!
He truly was the master. I have loved his playing since I was a small boy. Over 50 years later, his music is just as fresh and invigorating. We are lucky to have his recordings.
Yes. You must mention that the great McCoy Tyner is moving this arrangement.
Lots of Oscar Peterson in his playing here.
@@farshimelt anyone who came along in that era who wasn't influenced by Oscar Peterson was deaf. :)
Nobody could touch Stephane. Sensational.
Quanta nostalgia quando vedo persone così che adesso non ci sono più... grande Stephane, grazie per quello che hai lasciato... ciao.
Tyner hit those chords so well How High is a hell of a mood tune for playing those chords - harmony and dissonance all in one.
Simply good tune and well played. You are correct, sir.
I'd say Grappelli had to be one truly 'happy' man. He lived 89 creative years and spread joy to untold number of music lovers all over the world.
That’s the goal ❤

Doesn't get any better. Thank you.
I first learned of him when i saw the movie 'King of the gypsies" in 1979. Fell in love.
Saw him with David Lindley at the Hollywood Bowl. Magic.
c'est magnifissime, fabuleux et brillantissime violoniste spécialisé dans le jazz
he was and is still an outstanding musician.

What would the title of this DVD be please? Would love to own a copy.
The title is:

El pianista es otro grande: Mc Coy Tyner
I'm I'm not mistaken, that's McCoy Tyner on the piano.
Look at McCoy's fingers. They're lightning!!!!

To each their own said the Queen....as she kissed her cow.
...but jaehoonchung, please don't think me a sinner ;-)
Aloha from Hawaii,

Is that Joe Pass on the guitar?
Grapelli needs Django, Grapelli needs Tico.
His sound of his violin ... indescribable. It feels like revisiting your childhood home when you're an adult... just warm memories.
Grappelli was the undisputed master. It's never too late to discover him.
If you love jazz, you'll never grow old!
because u allready did before u started?
YES, I THINK SO. HAVE A GOOD LIFE, I WISH YOU.
Thank you, young lady!

God of the High Heaven BLESS you & all yours in everyway i pray 😊🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🕊
Also true of heroin, but for different reasons.
Stéphane Grappelli was an amazing jazz violinist, he will be remembered for his seemingly impeccable performances and incredible style.
Stephane Gapelli said he learned his violin style from listening to Django play! One of the great/amazing things about Stephane is that he played with as much ease and consistency on the really hard parts as he did on the easy parts!
Quel jeunesse !!! C'est bien plus que de la musique, c'est l'essence même de la vie.
I am so fortunate that some 60 + years ago my father introduced me to this music by the Hot Club of France ( Grapelli and Django Rheinhard). Django influenced every good guitar player from Les Paul and Chet Atkins ... and that influence goes on today. Merci to the French particularly and Europe for keeping this music alive while North America wallows in (c) RAP and Hip Hop. Bravo!
Two words "pure genius"
If the world could know what we know about Stefan and his music there would be no need for war.His violin brings peace.
Miałem cały ten koncert na video i pewnego dnia zona mi to skasowała, ech..
Stephane had it all, wonderful intonation, technique and real musical respect for everything he played.
He was rightly viewed as the Worlds best .
Magic Stéphane. Quelle classe. Merci Monsieur Grappelli pour tous ces moments de grâce. Admiration définitive.
Awe! That twinkle in his eye! The look he gives the audience before the jazz starts is priceless
What a way to start the day! The last rift was sublime. Thank you Stephane, for sharing your gift with the world.
My God... Brilliant. Loved him from his LPs but never saw him live. Thank you for this performance!
he looks old but his playing sounds like he's in his 20's. What a master.
He didn't even have to look at the violin, he just FELT it! I guess that comes with over 60 years of experience playing violin.
that was mind blowing!!! just so freakin' amazing. My favourite version of this piece was the one played by joe pass but this is as good as joe pass version.
I love the way he smiles all the. time and appears to enjoy every single second of his performances.
I seen Stephen only ounce when he came to Belfast. The one element that makes him so special, is that he plays with real passion.
Oh by the way, that is the great McCoy Tynor on Piano, he worked and recorded with John Coltrane himself.
I don't think you know how much of a fantastic violinist this guy is...
As a child, and via the radio, How High The Moon was my first encounter with the great Stephane Grappelli....l never really got over it.
Great thank you for this special and masterly music! Maya
His violin talks
If you're going to play Jazz saxophone, you have to go through Bird. If you're going to play Jazz violin, you have to go through Grappelli.
An authentic genius. At least we had him around for a couple of decades after Django's demise.
Why dislikes, why!? I want explanation.
you mean to tell us there are no deaf people in this world?
Because if we all liked the same things, the world would be boring. And there are loads of knobheads out there.
Stephane is a man full of love and decency - and this is what imbues the audiience.
That looks and sounds like McCoy Tyner on piano.
+Michael Hughes It is.
For sure. Did you ever hear McCoy Tyner's "Guitars" CD. He plays with Bela Fleck and John Scofield on that one. Brilliant stuff.
he died on 1 dec 1997 ... i was born that day ...
that guy on piano is freaking awsome
I saw Stephan when I was in my twenties, I'm now in the seventy arena. I loved him then and I still love listening to him. Have no fear, not everyone get to go to the moon.. Gigi!
Does anyone know the model of violin, it's beautiful.
Matthew Hill Stephane played a 1714 Goffredo Cappa violin. Beautiful sound.
The guitarist is Marc Fossett. Grappelli loved him and Fossett was a member of Grappelli's Pariian Trio for a lot of years.
Genius a million times over...I saw him in Houston in 1979, playing at Rockefeller Club...nostalgia of the best kind. God bless America, the birthplace of jazz music!
And which took years, finally taking notice of how great the jazz musicians we had by seeing what they did in Europe, how they were adored, rigtheously so.
Tellement beau❤❤❤❤❤❤
It is too bad he is not with us anymore....
You are a moron...
*****
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you meant he's...metaphorically "alive and well."
taxid3 ->
It seems you have a problem understanding my previous comment. I meant actually to have him alive and be able to go to his concerts, etc... Is it hard to understand the simple statement?
Just curious: do you always argue with everybody and lecture people? Or you just have nothing better to do?
*****
But...that's exactly what I meant when I said "metaphorically." So I was right about what you meant. To use your words, I can't believe I actually had to explain should have been blatantly obvious.
Whatever you say.... But I still love the way he used to play.......
I only seen Stephen only ounce, when he appeared in Belfast. A true master of his instrument. It was a wonderful experience.
That's Marc Fosset on guitar. Saw him live at Samois-sur-Siene, just excellent.
Simply fantastic. Superb improvisation.
很難想像小提琴也可以把爵士樂風格詮釋的這麼好,抒情處音色溫暖,後半段炫技處把我帶到天空快樂地翱翔不想下來,值得一聽再聽
That cheeky expression just before he picks the pace up really brightened my morning up.
What a master.
i would love to hear a better recording of this (vinyl of cd.. if anyone knows of one), this is excellent! increadibly exciting! grappelli is a genius.. his earlier recordings with django give me the most overwhelming need to tap my foot and this is no different, his energy is incredible, THIS is what live music is all about!
when mccoy is playing sparse chords in the middle and stephane grapelli is just playing playing playing....chills.
How much i love this man!! trully!! adorable!! thankyou!!
wow me encanta como toca el violin... expresa mucha alegria al tocar!!!!!
Gracias por subir el video!!!
Saw him twice in Buffalo. Still remember it well.
Thanks for posting this lovely clip....how good is that piano player !!!!!
Mi padre lo amaba, tanto como a esta canción... Me emociona, lo extraño. Thanks for sharing this.
ooo myyyy gooodddd!!!!! how???????
What a great artist and great sound he makes the instruement sing
You are so correct Jacob...I'm weary with uneducated folks who are critical judges of various styles of music. They need to be silent or open up...!!
That's McCoy Tyner on piano!
I have the video of this concert. McCoy Tyner only plays on two songs, this one and "I Didn't Know What Time It Was". Ther are 18 songs in all.
Regards
Denis
Real art never dies. In fact, it is the only thing that might survive.
Wonderful. Thanks for posting.
Sublime Violino...Inigualavel.
This does not sound like a ninety year old violinist.
Breathtaking. I was lucky to see him live in his youth (1979) hee hee ! Genius !
guitarist should have laid out during McCoy's solo, 'cause the chords are clashing, or Tyner should have played a bit straighter!
@italobambino43 Check out Eddie South and Stuff Smith
The French , have a interesting word Parcoure. & they apply it a lot of things. Like an army doing a reconnaissance mission, by knowing every concealable out-come in advance & even planing contingency outcome’s if needed. That’s how Stephane Grappelli approached his music. By being multi-skilled in many musical instruments. His only impairment, may just have been who ever was trying to accompany him.
