Even alan wake was insane according to its time
it will get a pass saying its a 2023 game
At the time it only ran 540p on the 360. Still looks good.
Wow.. Alan Wake 1 is actually holding up very good!
The remastered version is even better
It's getting really old for me (even RE4 from 2005 is better done), it makes me want to like the second one even more, there's no photo, Alan Wake 2 thousand times better.
Well, I see that it's the remastered version of the first, but the original version, damn it.
Remedy is such an underrated studio, their freaking amazing 👍.
Underrated? Are you fucking joking?
graphics is underwhelming as it required a beast pc
the forest level design doesnt seem interactive. bushes doesnt move too many clipping
@@SEEMEEGaming love it or hate it with every console gen games demand more CPU GPU power. imagine what gona happen after ps6. games getting too expensive to produce now and dev don't have time to optimize games for every pc config.

every gamer from console to pc wants a better-optimized game
The diner really makes you realize how far we've come. The lighting development is just incredible.
It reminds me of the differences between Red Dead 1 and 2.
Alan Wake 2 is one of my favourites survival horror games, i love the game! This one and Silent Hill 2 are my favourites horror games
Too bad AW2 has neither survival nor horror =(

Awesome video! Thank you for the comparison.
Love the detailed damage to the taken like the exposed guts and blood and I never noticed the water physics until this video. Hearing it bubble from the flare is a nice touch.
What this proves is that despite Alan Wake 2 obviously looking better and having a few better effects, Alan wake 1 still looks good, 13 years later (and this is the original not the remaster).
But compare instead Control on max settings to Alan Wake 2 and you will see that the jump in graphics, between those games, isn't that big but the diference in performance, is huge.
That's because Control has a far more simplistic environmental design, in CONTROL you walk through office areas most of the time, in Alan Wake 2 you have thick forests and cities
@@RanielEber Calling Control environments simplistic... is just wrong period that game environments may not be very diverse but are very complex, full of well optimized geometric detail and even generous destructibility and just because Control has no big forests and doesn't happen on a big city, in no way that means it is less complex than Alan Wake 2 and btw nor that explains why Alan Wake 2 is so heavy on performance.
I have played games with big forests and big cities before that run way faster, for example Kingdom Come Deliverance, Mafia 1 and 2 remake, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, Dead Light, etc, etc.
The fact is Alan Wake 2 uses way more heavy RT based lighting effects (apparently even with RT off in the menu, what is strange...) and geometry techniques (mesh shaders, similar to UE5 nanite tech), and despite all these top of the line graphics techniques, it imo hardly looks tons better than Control.
To know what I mean, just look at Far Cry 1 versus Crysis 1, those two games have 4 years of time between them, the diference between them graphically imo is massive, is night and day. Control and Alan Wake 2, also have 4 years of time between them, now, will you really tell me, that the jump in graphics between this later games, is the same/at the same level than between Far Cry 1 and Crysis 1? IMO hell no.
One of the worst arguments ever constructed. We've used examples like these in our ENG106 course to look at logical fallacies. Thanks for adding to that pile lmao. If you want, when I have time, I can go through and list out every fallacy by name - so you can understand why your argument cannot have a response, and why you should rethink your approach to computer graphics.@@Argoon1981
Yea optimisation is catastrophic... You can't even play in Native resolution without RTX...
@@Argoon1981the thing with Far Cry and Crisis is different. That was when technology was new. Back then graphics improved rapidly with every year.

Just upgraded my monitor so the dark scenes in alan wake 2 dont luck like one big smudge. Also the look of Alan Wake 1 (original not remaster) really grew on me and I finished it in 3 days
It's like they saw all these people comparing games released today and 10 years ago and said "I'll make sure these nitpickers have nothing to complain about." And best part is they actually did that with control because that game's destruction physics is insane
After playing the whole thing it underwhelmed me. What especially annoyed me was that they sidelined the guy the game is named after for a strong poc wahmen who wasn't even black originally. They made that racist bih a co author and apparently Alice is the mastermind going to save Alan lmao
Saga's part was amazing too, especially the overlaps.
I actually loved the contrast between their chapters an I loved Saga's survival aspect and Alan's stealth.

Remedy doesn't disappoint
The first one still holds up
Alan Wake 2 makes the first one (which I love dearly) seem like a rough draft of an idea. AW2 is just the best thing that ever came out.

Both are epic for their time
Finally people can see all the fun of the combat of AW1 was taken out of AW2 all the slo mo dodges, bullet time spark and flare gun kills , hell even the posessed taken objects thrown at you gone. Why tf remedy. AW2 is still good but it would be WAY better with the OG formula.
agreed, i have been trying to enjoy aw2, but it just doesnt have that awesome vibe aw1 did. and its combat mechanics flipping suck.
the later on enemy varieties in AW2 are alot better than AW1.
I agree with everything except that part 2 is good...
with good colour and lighting calibration this game could look amazing
AW2 would look so much better if it didn’t have to use image reconstruction on console. The game is beautiful but hard to get past the constant blurriness and light shimmering due to FSR especially on performance mode. I had to play on quality mode on XSX because performance mode looks horrendous, even worst on PS5 because you get those frame drops
Remedy are one of the best developers
Nice now do alan wake 2 vs rdr2

Is Alan Wake 1 the remastered version?
Lots of comparisons but the most important thing is the fact the protagonist doesn't wear a hoodie under his suit.
Best video
Alan wake 2 game of the year! Amen.
Very good comparaison ! Next time, can you do AW2 vs TLOU2?
No
@@Franku40keks why not?
Maybe cause comparing them wouldn’t reveal anything that interesting. It wouldn’t show an evolution over the years. Nothing to be gained except for an inevitable battle of the fan boys in comments is all you”d get. For most people, we look at both games and think “wow yeah, they both look great” and move on. Going into massive detail to determine which is superior is just pointless.
This is Next Gen!!!
How
I've been loving Alan Wake ever since 2010 but after playing the second game all I want is a remake of 1, with the same level of quality, depth and detail of 2
I haven't played Alan Wake 1. Htf does it look this good?
Alan Wake 2 should be the game of the year . Remedy did some huge work ! And not to mention Sam Lake , one of the best guys in the gaming industry! Tell me a game that has a freaking musical with the characters and the creator Or a short film. Remedy its such an underrated studio and it needs its recognition. The fact that they connect ALL of their games together its just sooo bizarre
I like Alan Wake 2's gameplay shift. It's because Scratch is fucking the book up, turning it into a horror story. A fast-paced game like Alan Wake 1 just wouldn't be good to make you see this aside from some scares and atmosphere
The one complaint I have in AW2 is not having the old outfit from the first game.
Modders will do it.
big compliment
If i have to choose one of the best then i will choose alan wake 2 just try comparison of alan wake remastered and alan wake 2 you will find more difference than comparing it to alan wake original

alan wake 2 has a burn flashlight
I dunno, it lost a bit of the phantasy environment of the first one... besides, the first game looks amazing to date. Besides, not to talk bad to any kind of group, but who exactly is this FBI officer. Are they playing us the MGS2 move again? I just hope its just a cool officer
Fantasy stuff is much stronger in 2. Specifically when you're playing as Alan. It's got some MGS2 vibes with some insane twists. The agent is also very good. Her name is Saga, I was skeptical at first cause it looked like some social justice worker. But she stole the show and gave one of the best performances I've ever seen in a game.
The system requirements to run this game are a joke. To hell with these graphics 😭🙏🏿
Alan Wake 2 has unlimited battery usage, it only drains 1 charge when you *tap* flashlight boost. You use one charge per darkness shield. When all the charges have depleted, then you insert a new battery.
Alan Wake has unlimited use as well, but you need to *hold* it to use flashlight boost.
They should reboot part 1 to look a like part 2

Alan wearing water resistant coats? the wet cloth effect missing in a 2023 game really
Love Alan wake 1 but Alan wake 2 is just a awesome sequal
Best psychological horror
Alan Wake is one of my all time fav games but Alan Wake 2 is a walking sneeze fest simulator. Part 2 It's an insult to such a legendary game.
I don't love part 1 but even I know it's waaay better than 2.
Alan wake up😮
You know Alan Wake 2 is good when there's no Crowbcat video on it
Even though I love Remedy, the response to Alan Wake II surprised me. I prefer the first Alan Wake. That game's gameplay loop is more in line with Remedy's other games (Max Payne, Quantum Break, Control). Alan Wake II has a lot less combat. Alan Wake II is scary, however most of that scariness comes from rather lazy jump scare scenes and shadows. The shadows are scary because they all present themselves much the same way, however some disappear and some attack you. Since you have limited batteries for your flashlight and ammo, you don't want to waste batteries on every shadow you see, so the shadows that do attack you often surprise you and scare you. That said, the dodge mechanic is pretty trash and somehow worse than the first game, and it wasn't great in that game to begin with. I also think the original Alan Wake has a much stronger open with your introduction to Bright Falls, whereas playing Saga in the forest is pretty slow and dull.
Perspectives can be quite diverse… I uninstalled AW1 because the combat and gameplay was basic, unoriginal and cumbersome… it didn’t help that I had just played Quantum Break and Control, two of remedy’s best combat systems. This was slow, painful and pretentious so I uninstalled after 6 hrs.
AW2 is their best works yet because they built on everything good and removed everything bad like the long combat levels that got in the way of the story. This one is all about the story, which I think is a better decision because Alan Wake and Saga aren’t action heroes. They’re not Max Payne or Jack Joyce or Jesse Faden… so excessive combat just makes it feel I’m playing a Resident Evil knockoff.
They went full creative on storytelling… given how intriguing and EXCEPTIONALLY CREATIVE their story and storytelling techniques are compared to “Alan wake slow and cumbersome combat”… this was phenomenal
@@alphamineronCompletely agree on it all. I barely got through AW1 just for the story, but the gameplay was so janky. AW2 really took the best from all their games imo.
@@alphamineron While I still like AW2, I don't think "everything" is "good" in it. The dodge mechanic is pretty terrible, the Mind Place stuff is simplistic and tedious instead of rewarding, and whereas AW1 had too much combat, AW2 doesn't have enough of it and often feels like you're just walking to the next piece of narrative exposition.
Since AW2 is the "new thing," too many people are still in the honeymoon period unwilling to critique its obvious flaws.
Remedy is one of my favorite developers and even I feel like the amount of praise is somewhat unearned in many aspects when it comes to AW2. The praise is so over-the-top that I feel like people have become unable to critique things they like and pretend what they like is flawless.
@@stuckintheinbetween No it isn’t about being unable to see the flaws, it’s about being able to see through them… at the bigger picture.
Didn’t I already say the gameplay used to be 2/10 and now it is 5/10? They also shorten the combat sections, which is a good choice because the system is 5/10 and it’s not the point of the game… Alan Wake isn’t an action hero, the focus should be on story and that what it is. The combat sections just break the flow, it is very much like a Life is Strange game but better with combat and other mechanics.
Point of seeing past to the bigger picture is, maybe some people don’t want to linger on the flaws as a compensation towards Remedy as a studio. They truly are exceptional, and the only AAA studio with a passion for games rather than money. Alan Wake 2 and Balders’ Gate 3 is probably the only big games that launched like they should, COMPLETE ON DAY ONE. No broken launches, no incomplete, half-promised or scammed features - “StarField”
Games like Starfield make FAR MORE MONEY, and have an army defending what is objectively a trash game. So when an actual good game like Alan Wake 2 comes, maybe we can balance the industry a little instead of cherrypicking flaws and bashing the studio THAT IS TRYING TO MAKE GOOD GAMES… instead of cash grabs like other studios?
the only downgrade is that in Alan Wake 1 the batteries is actually look like a battery, heck it's energizer lol. while in Alan Wake 2 it look like earplug 😅
Part 2 has incredible lighting and reflections on a 4090 but it is Alan Wake in name only. Might as well be a different IP with all the cheesey and annoyijg elements they added.
i cant believe a xbox360 game doesnt have water physics smh my head

Esta mucho mejor el 2, sin embargo siento que pierde un poco de escencia y se parece un poco a The last of us 2, me corrigen si estoy lejos de la realidad ya que aun no lo juego
A lot of new games look kind of the same and especially on the UE5 engine, it doesn't feel like each game has its own charm like it used to. Paradoxically, I have a weird feeling from this vid that because of all those shiny surfaces and film lighting it gives the impression of being unrealistic and cartoonish, even though actually the graphics are better. Alane wake has a different engine, but it looks similar to UE5.
yes, that put words to my thoughts. it does look better than alan wake 1 (although honestly, not by much). but it also looks kind of cartoony and too colourful and definitely has that samey ue5 look to it like every other game all just the damn same.
obviously not all games, don"t be blinded by nostalgic lot of old games feels same too.
