I’ve never tried the Sentinel in any of the three games. But watching this made me want to start a new game tonight. Usually just use soldier or infiltrator. Great video!!!!
Ha, finally someone discovers the power of a shotgun Sentinel. I don't have the Legendary Edition yet, but in the original I used Warp Ammo as a bonus power, and ran with a Scimitar and Kasumi, spamming her flashbangs and abusing the cooldown reset of Tech Armor. I could play actually much more aggressively than I could with a Vanguard. In ME3 BTW I spec'd into reducing power cooldowns as much as possible, spamming combos at point blank, but that game is easier.
Its night and day between this and the other classes who wont dare pop out of cover. ME2 fav sentinel build is the Pyro, with the Firestorm and maxxed heavy ammo capacity. That heavy weapon shines in the suicide mission.
Sentinel is fun with shotgun training. At around the point you get the weapon training with assault armor you can just start walking out into crowds of normal enemies and punching them to death, and fire off the shotgun when needed. Other powers only needed for boss level enemies, lol.
@@BLOOD_SPORTXI think they are the best class to play in this game with sentinel you can build to whatever you want(power spam and tank builds being the best) and with Vanguard you can equip a lightweight shotgun and keep charging and novaing while also shrugging off the damage you take

Well, Sentinels do not have a problem surviving until they reach enemies in cover. :) You can aggressively charge towards them and you will survive if you have the correct skills and modifiers. You just have to activate your Tech Armor. The tech burst will penetrate cover, so enemies in cover will get staggered. Enemies without cover will fall to the ground. More than enough time for you to run up to them and blast them with your shotgun. At the beginning when you are weaker, you could try flanking, but later on you can straight up charge at them.

To my knowledge you are able to complete every research projects provided that you have the necessary materials and complete every mission that gives you those projects. The only project you can never have is the one on Zaeed’s Loyalty mission. You either go for the Heavy Weapon Ammo upgrade or the Assault Rifle upgrade depending on your choice during the mission(don’t want to spoil it so I only say - depending on paragon or renegade choice). :)
@@AKisHerceg Thank you for the response. I've actually played The Trilogy as an Engineer on Insanity before Legendary Edition was released. I noticed one major enemy missing. How would you deal with Pretorians, those over-sized Collector troops that are like a big blob made up of skulls? You know, the eyebeam-flinger that keeps doing a self-Slam to restore its barriers? How do you fight those?
Keep your distance! Regular tactics mentioned in this build won’t work on that thing. Especially since they only show up twice and for me both encounters were on low level(I wanted to get the Shotgun training asap so I rushed to the Collector Ship fast). The Pretorian’s “Death Choir” ability pretty much makes any close range build ineffective, since it will trigger the skill instantly if you are at close range. It will gain back its Barrier and the attack is also an instant kill if you don’t get out of its range immediately. So as I said, with that thing alone, you need to stay at range. :)
I've been wondering lately, which class do you think is the most powerful in each mass effect game (the original trilogy, not included Andromeda)? Btw, awesome build
In the first game it is the Soldier with the insane Immunity skill, the heavy armor and the unlimited access to every types of weapons. The second and the third, I would say the Soldier and the Infiltrator. Although the Adept and the Vanguard are also very powerful in the third game. With a good build, you can make every class work like a charm, but the Soldier is something you can't go wrong with because it's just so well rounded in all three games. No wonder most players choose the Soldier for their playthrough. :)

@@LordVadersAccountant Yeah, especially in ME3 any tech build with Overload works crazy good with Incendiary ammo. You can strip shields and barriers with Overload itself and you can destroy armor by detonating flaming enemies.
Impressive! So hard to turn away from Sentinel since it’s my most played class but it’s so satisfying to stare down your foes with TECH ARMOR! Question though, did they reduce Tali’s combat drone cool down? I remember it being absurdly long, like 30 seconds in the original.
Yup, hard to not get addicted to the power this class gives you. :) Nope, the drone still has a 30 sec cooldown sadly. Legion also has the 30 sec, but at least there you can have a -25% recharge time with the passive(but you get Legion way too late). Still, I really wanted to use the drone because it is excellent for the Sentinel. It interrupts the attacks of everyone, plus with the explosion upgrade, we can have 2 tech explosions! :)
If you play an Engineer your drone’s cooldown is only 3 seconds (less with your passive skill and Mordin’s tech cooldown upgrade.) The drone is ridiculously good against almost any enemy.
@@AKisHerceg The sentinel, if upgraded and played correctly, turns Insanity into easy mode. AP ammo is a very useful bonus power (for any class other than Soldier and Vanguard who can get Inferno ammo.)
The Assault Armor Sentinel! I'm in the middle of this build right now. I don't how you're able to stand in front of YMIRs. They always take me out before my cooldown timer. Anyways, awesome video!
You should check out my Violent Vanguard Build for ME2: there you can see a tactic that I call "sidestepping" to kill YMIRs, Primes, the Oculus easily without cover - if you are having trouble. However, the key here with the assault Armor Sentinel is the Normandy Tach Lab upgrades, namely: Hard Shields(shields take 20% less damage - this is a flat 20% damage reduction when you have your shield on against any attacks) and the Redundant Field Generator(your shield will randomly recharge to full strength when you lose it - this is like another layer of Assault Armor protection without the aoe tech burst). Combine these upgrades and of course the Damage Resistance upgrades that give more shield and you should be more than fine. :)
Sentinel doesn't really need bonus skills I think....if you have to pick one, you can choose energy drain to replace overload or choose shredder ammo to enhance your damage against red health bar
Energy Drain is awesome, but not for this Sentinel build. :) This one focuses on Tech Armor and Shotgun and not tech/biotic powers. You really don't want to pick a skill here that requires activation and then it puts you on cooldown since you use your Tech Armor pretty much all the time(the other skills are just for additional fun, like Throw to play with enemies after you got their defenses down, or Overload to detonate flamers - which you can't do with Energy Drain). That is why Armor Piercing Ammo is great(although not needed it increases your damage output drastically) since you only have to activate it once. Then you can just go back to the standard tactic of constant Tech Armor activation and standing in the enemy's face blasting them away with your shotgun, while your weapon deals way more damage. :)
@@AKisHerceg Yeah, I got what you mean because I literally just finished my LE ME2 insanity sentinel run, and I used the aggressive build too. Energy drain and warp are basically just for ymir mechs. And sometimes energy drain enemy shields before closing in on them works too. Depends on your play style. Also, ME3 fucking nerfed setinel since tech armor only has 4.5m radius now and can't replenish shield.
@@DTWesker Yup. In ME3 I mostly use it to stack up DR. I use Defensive Matrix to get the shield back every time I activate it, so it is very similar to the ME2 Agressive build. :)
im Level 10 Sentinel on insanity and I am struggling. they remove my tech armor in like 2 shots. and I have some weak pistols, and you seem are using shotgun. Shame you didn't show early game build
How long did you watch my video? At 1:58 you can see exactly how you should progress level by level, in order to not have a hard time. First you have to fully upgrade your Tech Armor and that way no one will shoot it down in two-shots. And when it does gets shot down, you get 50% of your shield back instantly after you unlock the Assault Armor upgrade. Your TA can be fully upgraded before level 7 let alone level 10. Which is what gives you great survivability. Then you max out your passive: this will give you more Health and Power Recharge, so you can activate your TA faster. At 3:04 I show you the build at level 7 against a Boss. I'm using the Shuriken basic smg and melee(you only get to pick a shotgun if you progress far enough into the story). 3:18 - this is me at level 12 taking on hordes of Husks with melee only. Only two level above you, and I have zero problem crushing a horde of husks with no ammo. As you can see, there is no reason for you to struggle. So either you did not watch the video, or you don't follow the progression I showed. This is not a build where you first pick up all kinds of powers like Overload and Throw and stuff - that will end up making you weak. You have to focus on your Tech Armor first, then your passive. After those two, you can pick whatever you want because your survivability will be guaranteed already. So please follow the progression in the video if you want to achieve the same result. :)
@@AKisHerceg I watch whole video, didn't know that was showing skill progression I just thought you were adding those points in whatever order. Yeah I had TA at 3 and some other stuff. I finally got my TA to 4 second ago, we will see how it goes.

So at 3:09, your tech armor is gone and already pulsed. Also on cooldown. Yet you randomly have a pulse go off, where did that pulse come from? Is it a concussive shot? I'm having trouble being as aggressive as you are.
Yes, that is Zaeed’s Concussive Shot. :) If you want to be as aggressive as I am you also want to bring Tali with her little drone to make things easier(it interrupts enemy attacks) and get the shield researches fast. Most important researches include: Redundant Field Generation which gives you a chance to restore your shield when depleted, and the Hard Shields technology to have your shield suffer 20% less damage. :)
@@AFKlayy Yeah, I picked that one because that way we can have two tech explosions. But either is fine since even the basic attack of the drone stuns every enemy, even bosses. :)
I’m new to ME, completed my first play through as soldier, switched to vanguard at the beginning of me2 to try it out but it feels no way near as good ? Have I just gotta level it up ?
Yes. You just have to level up your Tech-Armor to max and start doing research on the ship. Especially Shepard’s shield upgrades. You will be 100 times more durable than the Soldier.
I wrote it in the video: the Eviscerator. :) Pretty good shotgun, with high damage and three rounds. Its fire rate is a bit slow though. The Geth Plasma Shotgun works fine with this build too.

Yeah, I love spamming my little drone with the Engi! :)
Yup! :)
What is the name of the soundtrack in the begginer?
That is Tali’s soundtrack when you rescue her on Haestrom. Tali Rescue/Combat music. :)
It's called "Infiltration" it plays during the first part of the suicide mission
@@AKisHerceg Thanks. I have all the upgrades, so it looks like I'll have to take a peek at the side stepping vid
Sentinel doesn't really need bonus skills I think....if you have to pick one, you can choose energy drain to replace overload or choose shredder ammo to enhance your damage against red health bar
Energy Drain is awesome, but not for this Sentinel build. :)
This one focuses on Tech Armor and Shotgun and not tech/biotic powers.
But how did you get shoutgun? Sentinel cannot take shoutgun
At one point in the main mission you will have the opportunity to pick one weapon training. Pick the shotgun when you get there. :)
im Level 10 Sentinel on insanity and I am struggling. they remove my tech armor in like 2 shots. and I have some weak pistols, and you seem are using shotgun.
@@SuporexTV It even says "Powers in order of importance" … Anyway, make sure to also get Defender up for your cooldown.
Would've been better to hear you say that in the video, microphones where invented around 1876. Reading text in a medium designed for sound sucks. @@AKisHerceg
@@AKisHerceg Explosive drone?
@@AFKlayy Yeah, I picked that one because that way we can have two tech explosions. But either is fine since even the basic attack of the drone stuns every enemy, even bosses. :)
@@AKisHerceg It's also critically important that you yell 'LeeRoy Jenkins!!' as you charge in. ;)
Ehh, i cant choose assault armor or power armor. 🙂
Do a vanguard videoppz!
I definitely will! :)
😲😲😲👌👌👌👍👍👍
Can you do this in the first game?
I have a build for it, but the mechanics are a bit different there. :)
How is that insanity
Well, it is. :)
Why don't you try the build yourself on Insanity? It's fun!
@@AKisHerceg cheers bro , kinda feel like I screwed up I got some crappy flash bangs and stasis rounds aswell lol
What shotgun do you use?
I wrote it in the video: the Eviscerator. :)
Pretty good shotgun, with high damage and three rounds. Its fire rate is a bit slow though. The Geth Plasma Shotgun works fine with this build too.
How do you get shotguns?
Well, I guess you are not that far in the story yet, so I don’t want to spoil anything but later you will have the option to gain the ability to use an assault rifle or shotgun or sniper rifle. You just have to pick the shotgun there. :)
@@AKisHerceg Of I remember correctly, is that somewhere mid quest by the collector base? I think with the black widow, claymore and that red shitty assault rifle?
@@widaflow Yes. However, I have to disagree on the “red shitty assault rifle” part. Revenant kick ass if you handle it well. :)
