If you love water parks, spending the day at Atlantis’ water park was one of the best days of our lives. It was an absolute blast. We tell everyone that will listen about their water rollercoasters and tubing around the “lazy river” that is interspersed with rapids. Also fighting our fear of heights to go down the shark slide was completely worth it.
As a former DCL crew member, I recommend getting off the ship and going to Potter’s Cay (it’s under the paradise island bridge) and get conch salad and fritters at one of the local conch shacks. Then pop across the Atlantis just to see the marina and the lobby, then walk down the road a bit to Cabbage Beach and head back to the ship after. The Bahamas needs tourism and financial support, so I recommend going there at the very least. If you’re an adult, renting a motorbike and going around the island is also very fun.
I am foreigner and live in nassau and got a bike and woow!!! my soul just wants to be at the public beach of paradise island, have a heini at the plaza and in weekdays enjoy garlic honey wings or a soup at double dragon rest in front of the bridges on nassau
I will point out that: The Hard Rock Cafe has since closed on Nassau. And secondly, as a first time cruiser, our plan is to get our passports stamped as it's a cool souvenir to have in the document, and to do the Queen's Staircase attraction on the island. We'll be doing the Universal and Disney water parks, so not bothered about missing Atlantis (we've seen the Atlantis Dubai before, so we're not missing much there). We do have months to decide for definite though.
I must put my two cents in here. I strongly recommend booking all excursions directly through the cruise line. I do understand that it is more expensive, but if anything happens & your excursion runs over , the ship will not wait for you on a private excursion but will wait for you if booked through them. So to me , I would rather pay the extra money. I have now done a tour of Atlantis & a dolphin swim on Blue Lagoon. Both booked through cruise line. And it was still local guides
I love visiting Nassau. It is a great walking port. So many people stay on the ship in Nassau because the ship is empty but our last cruise no one got off and the ship was crowded.
Thanks for doing a discussion like this! I am going on my first Disney cruise, actually first ever cruise, in September. New York to Bermuda. Would love if you did another video like this about Bermuda! 😊
Walk down, or take the bus, to the fish shacks under the bridges. It will be the closest you come to the real Bahamas on your cruise. And, you will get some great Bahamian food at a good price.
Hand on the shoulder to get your attention? Yeah, a tad over the line. Reminded me of walking down shopping districts in Okinawa. I had one shop keeper throw her arm around my waist, pick me up, and carry me into the shop! No, she did not make a sale.
A few years ago . I rented a locker by the pool . To put our shoes in while we swam. They wouldn’t take cash. $4.00 this was the only place I used this card during our trip. Well , was compromised. So be careful .
They've had a couple tours of Atlantis available, at least in the past. They have a lovely aquarium, among other things. You don't need to book a tour with Disney, you can grab a van for just a few bucks. The water park includes the famous shark plunge slide. I have walked over there --- I don't recommend that, but it's doable. I did learn the bridge is named after Sydney Poitier, his family was from there (back when it was a British colony).
I usually take a walk down the main street and to the historic sites. I always buy jerk sauce in Nassau. Since Cariloha has stopped making pure bamboo clothing, I don't shop there. Jewelry is not on my shopping list. I took the "Atlantis Tour" once. It's bogus. The tour guides are of the "do you want fries with that?" variety, none of the polish that a Disney cast member would bring to the "tour." I would go back to Atlantis if the restaurant is that good. A few disturbing comments about the people of Nassau are made in this video.
LOL!!! I always thought that silly Creg was saying "NASA" - I am going here on a Disney cruise on the Dream in early April and will be my first time sailing on Disney cruise line and to the Bahamas.
The lack of polish in DIS videos makes me trust them more. But, can Pete stop repeating himself & shaking his head while he's talking (unless it's a tremor situation, but I don't think it always is)?

*pop across the bridge to Atlantis.
The fish fry shacks under the bridges is my favorite part of Nassau. Every time we stop there on our boat, I have to go and get cracked conch there.

How do you get your passport stamped in the Bahamas?
Pete you host everything I watch! Hardest working man in RUclipsdom.
The rum distillery is within walking distance... The Greystone The Rum Cake factory.....

Before 2020 the best time to enjoy the ship was during port days, so our vote goes to Stay on the Ship
🛳❤️🌊
I'll tell you what you do on a DCL Cruise when you head to Nassau, you stay on the ship! That's what you do! :)
Why? Is it not safe?
We enjoy the Pirate Brewery, too! We like to check out local breweries wherever we travel.
We take a horse and buggy ride, buy a sovenoir and get back on the ship.

Can you please share the contact for the car with local chauffeur? We are travelling with kids and would like to have someone reliable. Thank you.
The Coolest hat of Nassau Bahamas I've ever gotten was in the port markets 😎😎
Had a bit of luck at the Atlantis casino a few years ago- the aquarium at Atlantis is nice as well.
Speaking of shopping.... Some of us aren't interested in jewelry or alcohol. What about hand-crafted items, art, food products?
Olives is owned and operated by Todd English, who also runs Bluezoo at the dolphin. Have you dined there? Any review of that? Love the shows! Thanks
Olives closed in Bellagio in Vegas.
How about the pirate ship excursion?
More people should look into getting off the ship and explore Nassau

I’m interested in checking out the pirate museum. I have kids ages 14-4. Anyone been there?
Easy. Stay on board.

Nassau has incredible scuba diving.

I want to do a live stream at the blackjack tables with Pete
We honeymooned in Atlantis 18 years ago So amazing and food was 5 star
Thanks.
Stay on the ship
Whu does everyone say this? Is Nassau not safe for tourists??
Any COVID restrictions on accessing the Atlantis?
Yes. You can only visit their beach and maybe lazy River. You can’t go on the water park and slides unless you have a room booked at the hotel.
😂 Stay on the 🚢 and have a Spa/Rainforrest room day.
Margaritaville

They always speak the truth on this channel!!!
The people we interacted with was great
