Outrage marketing. Happens all the time in these shows. They take an obvious talent and relentlessly bring them down. The audience will be outraged. In the meantime the contestant gets offered a record deal under one of Simons' non idols ventures and gets offered lucrative deals. The audience will see this as a redemption arch and it looks as if said contestant went their own way. You really think it was a coincidence that J-hud got that part in Dreamgirls? You know how long that film had been in development?

I always thought about Jhud's previous experience with Simon. It is one of the reasons I appreciate her approach to coaching. I am glad I get to witness this moment with them. A lot can be learnt from her attitude.
Jennifer has raw talent, when you couple that with all her training and the school of hard knocks she has been through, it has been the recipe for how great she has become vocally. Her attitude in learning and developing is everything.
I still cannot believe JHud did not win that show! However she is sooooo lucky to have not because she would have been locked into doing records for them at that time and might not have the opportunity to do Dreamgirls! Things happen for a reason ☺️
It's actually a blessing in disguise that she didn't win. Most of the Idol "winners" have not had any noteworthy success, plus there are pesky contractual obligations. Some may not even have much of a career in the business any longer. Jen has surpassed pretty much all of them and is right up there with Kelly and Carrie. Jhud was the first to prove that you don't even have to come close to winning such a show to become a superstar. She lost AI and won everything else. An outstanding journey.
