When you screed the seat piece on was it pre drilled? If not, did you pre drill or not? I’m concerned about screwing the seat on without pre drilling and causing the seat wood to crack.
The seat was not pre-drilled and the wood did not split.
@@EngineeredWoodworkingandDIY Thanks for the quick feedback! How have the chairs held up? We ordered 2 to see how they seem prior to ordering 4 more. They actually seem like nice hardwood pieces, but have seen some complaints online about the seats cracking.

I purchased these chairs based on your recommendation. Thanks for the video and the link. We are planning to paint them all white. Do you have any advice on paint selection for them? Oil vs latex? Brand? We want something durable to stand up to the abuse our kids will put on the chairs. Also, any recommendation on paint application? Spray gun vs brush? Thanks!
Derek Hardy if you have an airless sprayer, use it. Otherwise, you may try using a foam brush to not leave brush marks. On my dining table, latex epoxy from Behr (home depot) has held up pretty well to my 4 kids.
