A little question from an Italian Engineer, do you proununce ASCE 7:16 as "ASKI" or as "ASSHI"? I use the spelling A-S-C-E (as you do on the start of the video) but there is another way to pronounce it, correct?
An Italian Engineer part of Team Kestava - I'm loving it man! I've only heard it pronounced A S C E as each of those letters are pronounced in English but I bet there are other ways! what's your experience?
Great videos Rich. Thanks for the great explanations. Can you please go into detail on the "ground motion hazard analysis" referred to in Section 11.4.8? It appeared in your example that this additional analysis should have been required since your Site Class = D and S1 > 0.2. Maybe I'm missing something though. Anyways, I find the discussion on Site Specific Ground Motion procedures in Chapter 21 pretty confusing and looking for some guidance on how to navigate through it. Thanks!
I dont know why American one is so complicated. in EU8 they are regressions coefficients and other parameters that he uses is for site amphilification due to soil type. so that first one is about data and other one is about Amphlification of wave due to different soil class.
Is this hazards.atcouncil.org gives values only for America and Canada only? I'm trying for different areas but always having error for other countries.
Thanks for clear video Please is there any guide or examples about he can apply torsional irregularity when we use response spectrum. In dynamic analysis how we can do the combinations
Excellent teaching! Love the pace, it's very helpful. Thank you! In the ATC website and U.S. Seismic Design Maps website, Sm1 and Sd1 are given as null per section 11.4.8 for this address. But we need Sd1 to calculate Csmax. Per 11.4.8 a motion hazard analysis is needed. What's going on here? :)
Beautiful guide! A little qestion: what resources do we typically use to determine wether the site is located near an active fault? I ask 'cause the code in numerous instances reffers to the proximity of the fault line and futher restrictions regarding that. So how do we know where faultlines are?
Thanks for your kind information. I have a question as per data site location YANBU, SAUDI ARABIA my ss=25g, and s1=6g, on the behalf of these mys SD1 AND SDS go more value, Is these value is acceptable. sir, i can send you more details i want to give suggestion. kindly request...

We spell it A-S-C-E. Actually, we spell most of our codes. Others we call by their name, like the "Steel Manual."
ay essy
Thank you for your commitment on teaching us
It's my pleasure! im learning too!
I did a thumbs up because your voice sounds enough like mine for me to understand you. I am so grateful for a fellow American "accent!"
I used to have the same issue back in college!

I just realized I asked the same question.

As a new engineer this guide was so helpful! much appreciated
That's what my page is all about! I'm glad its been helpful for you! Always let me know if you have any questions and I'll get a video up!
@@Kestava_Engineering ACI 318 chapter 17! Anchoring to concrete :))
thank you for sharing this, i really needed someone to explain it to me 🙏
Glad it was helpful!

shoot - I actually have not tried another country! I think it may only be good for Canada and the USA. sorry about that.
@@Kestava_Engineering do you know a link that has information for other countries?
@@jaspermarieencarnacion6431 did you find something??
Great video! One question, if the Sm1 and SMS values were given on the ATC website, do you recommend just taking those?
Thanks for clear video

In dynamic analysis how we can do the combinations
very well explained , thank you very much
Glad you liked it
I don’t typically comment but this was really well done. Thank you.
thank you Toufic! I want to make an updated video soon to make things even more clear!

Fantastic video. Thank you sir. Awesome job.
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks Syrian!
Do you know how should we seismic design rigid basement according to ACI for the building which has towers, podium and basement floors?
hmmm not sure if I follow. my bad Avni

Geotechnical evaluation at site is mandatory.
I needed to ask what will be the value of Hn in case of single story building (not gable) , will the Hn value be = total height or Hn/2 ?
i think for gable its the mean roof height but would need to double check.
Thanks for sharing
Seems like TL= 6 sec, not 16, can you please confirm?
Good explanation! Cool channel!
Thanks for your kind information.
I have a question
as per data
site location YANBU, SAUDI ARABIA
my ss=25g, and s1=6g, on the behalf of these mys SD1 AND SDS go more value,
Is these value is acceptable.
sir, i can send you more details i want to give suggestion. kindly request...
can I do that for the cantilever single column? I'm calculating the earthquake to single column.
thank you so much
and I wanna get 20 ground motions with different locations in the world. and I got them, then how can I get the target spectrum of these 20 motions?
Addenda says to use linear interpolation instead of straight line - good video
yes! thank you for the catch! Hats off to you Brian
can you please provide the download link for the ASCE code?
Sorry my dude - I dont own that PDF personally. =(
@@Kestava_Engineering ok thanks. I already downloaded it. Thanks.
Great walkthrough !
Thank you Antonio!
