There used to be many indoor 'Radio Rallys' back in the early late 80's in the UK. Regularly went to one in Blackpool hosted at a big hotel on the sea front. Used to come back with lots of junk 😂
Ha, we still use almost this exact Weller soldering station at 6:28 in our shop. Though we're making switching cabinets for industrial use where for the longest time soldering your own things hasn't really been a thing anymore, so it's nowadays relegated to the odd one-off special adapter cable for internal use once or twice a year at maximum. I think even the spool of solder is the same we've used 20+ years ago already =) BUT: It's all still working just fine and passes every inspection!
Used to love carboot sales, we had one every week here in Bolton, always loved the vintage audio seperates from the late 70's early 80's especially stereo recievers that looked beefey, bought an akai aa1175 stereo reciever about 20 years ago , had no sound, speaker relay was at fault, repaired it and still working to this day, no re-capping or anything else, sounds very good full of depth and warm sounding with quite a lot of power for domestic, to me beats any modern domestic audio of today
Lots of nice stuff, all of them antique radios warm my heart :). I used to go to electronics fleamarkets back in 2000s and that's where I bought dozens of tubes and related parts, my DJ mixer and my first scope.
Thanks for the look around Mike. Plenty of gravity in those hp boat anchors - a few 141T spectrum analysers and most of what looked like an 8410 network analyser.
I remember finding one of those BC-611 in a flea market, sadly it turned out to be mostly a pile of rust and aluminium oxyde powder, and I could not save it.
The AIM LCR meter at 3:38 came home with me along with about the other half of the test gear on sale. It was a great day and made some new friends. Lots of RUclips nerds you couldn’t have swung a cat etc. I had a very short chat with Mike asking about the switching arrangement used on his surge generator. I’m looking for a high voltage switch if anyone has anything suitable leave a note on my channel thanks.
the yearly sussex ham fest in new jersey at the fairgrounds was one of my favorite things every year . haven't visited since about 2002 tho. it like this but 2 times the size. used to be able to get all types of stuff to play with i miss going.
Nice shot of my belly at the start Mike! What got me was the amount of Silent Key gear being sold off. None of us are getting any younger. Also did anyone else clock the chap on the mobility scooter that had obviously been tweaked. Apart from PhotonicInductions I've never seen one so rapid...
Didn't make it. Domestic politics rule this year. A few years ago I took away your teardown NEC projector (for free, thanks :o) ) and its top cover still serves as a base for when we put the portable barbeque on the table in the back garden.
@@gorak9000 I was looking at a 12M clark pump at mast and managed to get sucked into a 15 minute conversation about how £400 was too much for a mast by someone who had already bought one.
I would love to go to something like this! 😀 we do have something similar here in the US. once a year we have a huge swap-meet , very much like a car boot sale, in Pomona Ca. tho I haven't been able to attend one as of yet. and I am sure there are many more but Pomona is the one I know of
Hi much fee do you have to pay to do a bootsale there? I see books n plants- but was there anyone selling shoes n clothes? Is there a bootsale I can sell these at PLEASE ?
At 12:20 I spotted "Tux" the battery seller who is often seen at various rallies. I forget his call sign, but I think he was an M3. He was a useful seller of batteries and associated tools, such as my LCD battery tester. He did a lot of SOTA I believe. BTW I used "space" to freeze frame in order to get a better look, and even when the camera was panning the frozen picture was of very high quality. I did spot the stall with the old computers, definitely a few Amigas, an Atari ST PCB and what looked like an old 8088 PC motherboard. Anyway saved me having to drive an hour or so to get there 🙂- many thanks.
Super nice video! But you need to think of a better camera. I think even a smartphone would have done a better job here. Maybe something with exchangable lenses.
6:00 man with the leg brace has the exact same as mine. Sucks, but it's better than having your knee bend completely the wrong way because you moved your little pinky toe wrong.
Did anyone recognise you n say hello? It definitely looks very disabled friendly, as it's all my mobility scooter can handle because it's designed for hard surfaces (tarmack, concrete, etc). There's a carboot just opposite me a couple of times a month but as I'm a night owl, I always miss it ☹️ I really should make an effort to get an early night n start going, as I know there's going to be loads of stuff for peanuts. But you could say that about any carboot tbh 🤨
We used to have big flea markets near but not anymore unfortunately they built a store there and chased away the people, this kind of thing would be fun thing to go to even without buying anything
So good to see a flea market (sort of) that isn't overrun by shady dudes selling cheaply made tshirts and jewlery. I hope you got to pick up a few interesting things to take apart on camera! (And I've also spotted a few things that would make an interesting Techmoan video as well I believe.)
Be great if theres a local electronics booty near me? Teesside? I bet that Mike's home is full to the rafters with electronics crap?. Enough to pull off his own Car Booty all by himself! Ha ha
Man, this is truly catnip for an old geezer like me who is interested in electronics and old computers.
I've never been to such a thing. Looks like a lot of fun. I can only dream of reasonably-priced electronics. Ebay is a now a scalper's paradise.
mate, a bit too fast! next time maybe slowdown the camera movement by %200
this is slow for Mike, its like matrix you get used to it and you start Seeing the code same as Mike does
@@0Pinger I think I'm more of a blue pill kinda guy
He was going fast, to compress as much footage of the tables as he could, within 13 minutes.
Playback speed at 0.75x
bit blurry on my pc and now I'm slightly nauseous. I talk just as fast as Mike but have learned to film more professionally!

I like catching snippets of conversation of the crowd.
had a good morning there - all your leaded solder had gone by about 9.30!
Smashing day for it too! Looks awesome 👍
This is the kind of place I would love! Like a kid in a sweet shop!

Mike, When you whip pan through the entire video, no one can see, nor focus on anything... :(
I found myself in the video! Nice meeting you today, it was well worth coming down!
I remember finding one of those BC-611 in a flea market, sadly it turned out to be mostly a pile of rust and aluminium oxyde powder, and I could not save it.
I love your videos but here combination of low framerate and movement made me feel sick ngl.
What a dream place, electronic component everywhere !

In Poland we have this. Mostly junk from german shops returns but you can get cheap stuff for fix
I'm glad it doesn't ALL go to landfill. This is such a wasteful practice, but if it helps some people, this is at least a slight partial relief.

Ah I didn't manage to make it down. Would have had that old CCT minuette.

Hard to see what was on offer due to speed and camera blurr, would have really enjoyed a more pedestrian pace.
more to give a vague idea of what’s there rather than actual show and tell
I've had half a bottle of wine and a sudafed for the pollen; it's like slow motion to me.
I think he's trying to avoid showing too much interest and getting caught talking to someone for an uncomfortably long time.

How did I miss it? And I'm from Luton..
2:24 i spotted a Sinclair QL, the lid of a Spectrum +2, a CPC464, Spectrum 48K+, CPC6128, C128, Atari ST and two Amiga A500s!
I had no idea! This is not a million miles from me, as well. Got to go to the next one. I spotted all sorts of things I'd buy!
Would love to go to a sale like that! Sure would be all sorts of tempting old tech gear needing a new home!

Any stalls selling floppy disks with games on from a stall that sells "towels"? :) Like back in the 90s Hayes car boot.

If you like "spacebar", you might also like the "" keys, which perform frame backward and forward.

Last one of these events I went to was full of Marconi test equipment. I didn't see any.
Damn, I want to watch this, but I the motion in these kind of videos make me feel sick after just a few moments.
Looks like lots of goodies I wish I could have got to it but life. 2x👍
How did I not know this was on just down the road?

For the UK, google UK radio rallies, hamfests in the US
@@mikeselectricstuff Thanks. Found one in November near me then the rest are quite far.
BTW? Video killed the Radio Store! he he
So glad this is in UK, so I cannot go there and buy stuff, because of the import taxes to EU.
I'd buy all kind of stuff I don't need.
I would spend so much there.
Great video Mike.

10:21 - also visited by plumbers I see

I think You need to walk a little faster , I mean your out of breath and in a hurry . So why film it ?
