By far the most all encompassing G95 / G90 (G80/G85) video on youtube. Lots of other good ones but this one covers everything. Really helped me learn not only the camera, but some basic photography skills as well. Going into depth into literally every single feature was really great as it's quite overwhelming at first, being my first non-pointandshoot camera.
Just bought a G95. Know nothing about photography and so grateful for this Free video. Thank you! Your teaching is simple clear and easy to understand. Love it!
This video is incredible. Coming from making content with a phone and having never touched a DSLR in my life, I knew I would be going from roller skates to a space shuttle, but I didn't quite know just how true that was. Out of the box and touching nothing at all, the camera does a great job. I'm excited to see how much more I can get out of it once I have a slight clue of what I'm doing. Once again, you did a fantastic job here. 👍
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I have been traveling for over 12 years with a point and shoot camera simply pointing and shooting wildly and fallen in love with photography. I recently picked up the G95 to actually learn photography. The timing and content of this video is perfect!!! I love your calm demeanor and everything is easy to understand. Big fan, Michael!
I recently hey de G85. I don’t know anything about photography, I was looking for videos in Spanish I can’t found anyone, but I found you after watch TOO MANY and yours is excellent. I Can understand everything, the form how you teach us in excellent. Thank you
Thank you very much, got my G80 in 2023, as far I as can tell there's plenty of them around for years still to come, this video is a great help to get started. Never seen a G90 in the wild or for sale around here btw. Curious to try one if ever. Forum warriors claim the 20MP sensor is rushed, every shot supposedly needs RAW processing afterwards.
Merci, merci :) I used to take pictures with my Canon 200D. I bought the Lumix G90 even though I knew some basics but I was totally lost on the features of the device. And the manual is over 300 pages to read. So your video helped me fill in those gaps. Merci encore !
Been looking at your video on several occasions. Reaaly appreciate your knowhow and no non sense attitude. I especially appreciate the chaptering of this long content it helps me get back to specific subjects as I'm trying to tame this very capable little machine. Thank again for your expertise and tutor skills.
I purchased the FujiFilm X-S10 thinking I would replace my G95 and after a couple weeks I've decided to keep the G95. Thanks again for such a nice tutorial!
Thanks it would have taken me a year to read the book as I stopped on every page to try everything out regardless if I knew what it meant or if I thought I would never need it. I just like to know where everything is. This was perfect to put the camera away, watch this overview and take notes on the spots I knew I wanted to revisit. Now I am much more confident in the gear. Newbie in photography here and this was my first ever camera purchase so this video was great. I do recommend getting the basic terminology down like Michael says. I did do other intro courses prior to this so if you know the basics (Aperture, Shutter, ISO) then this video is perfect
You are an absolute boss at teaching! I love your tone of voice, you truly sound passionate and want your students to learn. I love it! New subscriber on board here!
Thank you very much! I just got my camera, mostly for my RUclips channel. And I just learned the basics, plus all the features I need for my videos. Thank you very much!
I am an experienced photographer, but learned a lot from this video concerning the addition of the G95 to my photography gear. Thanks for taking the time to do it. You are a skilled presenter/teacher. I am very interested in ND filter use. Only have a novice understanding, but will see to find your info on them. Again, thanks for the video and I look forward to learning more from you.
Such a great in-depth breakdown, I'm using this camera for my business and you've given me plenty of ideas of how I can excel my photography skills to help attract clients that I didn't know before. Thank You
I just picked up this cameras with the included 12-60 mm lens. It’s my first real camera, with the exception of my drones. I hope I did good. I wanted a camera good a both photo and video and this camera fits the bill. I’d be using this mostly for nature/landscapes, long exposures, portraits of my kiddos, short 4K cinematic clips to supplement my drone footage.
Thank you so much for this. I have had my G90 for a week, and hope to video a wedding in 6 days time. I have been looking for a tutorial for the G90 and came across your great resource.
I am about to purchase a G85 - this was simply outstanding as an orientation prior to purchase as it’ll be my first outing with a Panasonic camera. Used to the Canon menus and button layouts so getting a heads-up on the LUMIX set-up is going to get me off to a good start. Thanks so much. Sub’d but not just now - must have been on a previous vid. ;)
Hi Michael, found your video from looking how to use my new bought lumix camera. A very very informative video that really helps a lot! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. It is veru much appreciated. Wish you Goodluck! 🙂
Hey Michael, excellent tutorial, I have recently picked up a G95 and your video has certainly highlighted a few things that I was not aware of. Well done and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! This video helped me a lot. I was afraid for the camera. Waited a month to get it out of the box. Then I just start shooting not knowing what I was really doing. But now I'm on a class so I have to know what I'm doing to make good shots and to do the assignments.
I live in Brazil and even before the internet, B&H was known among AV people and enthusiast as a sure shot. I don't work for B&H and the only thing someone else bought for me, there, is a Sennheiser HD565 Ovation during the late 1990s - the fame, though, here in Brazil, persists to this day.
Thanks for taking the time to provide such a thorough review of the camera functionality. This is way easier to digest than going through a printed manual! Nice work!
The Art Filters on the Lumix and Olympus cameras aren't a "Dead End." It could take hours in waisted post processing time to create the same result. If your some place at high noon and you'll never be back, these Art Filters can create a very enjoyable image. An advantage to Olympus is that you can autobracket your favorite filters with one click. Many times I've ask people their favorite image from a group, and its an Art Filter one they pick.
This is a great video, thanks Michael. Please provide the G95 training video, i am most interested in learning photography. Never done that before and got my first camera today
Great video! Thanks. Just a couple of times you switched and made changes but didn't show us which buttons you pressed. These types of videos are great.
Thank you so much for taking time making such extensive tutorial. I'm a photography hobbyist. This video has helped me understand my G95 so much better. Lumix G95/90 has got so many hidden features I didn't even know they existed & how to use them. I tried searching for other G95/90 related videos on your channel, but couldn't find any. Videos from other creators aren't as detailed. Do you offer any online workshops/courses for Lumix G95? I'd love to enroll
Thank you so much- I don’t have any advanced courses specifically for the G 95 however I have made a course that would cover the advanced techniques for most cameras. I would strongly recommend it to you: www.maventutorials.com/collections/all/products/everything-else-crash-course
I have a g95 love it for video, I didnt need 60 fps so thats why i bought it hell I dont even shoot videos in 4k that much 1080p is more than good enough and its easier to work with
God bless you for this great and informative video ! It's one of the best tutorial content I've ever seen on YT. Pity you canceled Lumix G90 crash course.
The gentleman gives clear, patient instruction. One main problem--the camera he's showing us is not the G-85. So, his buttons are slightly different. ALSO he moves too fast when accessing the menu to alter settings. It is very difficult to follow when he switches to the inner adjustments menu. Is there a tutorial specifically teaching the use of the G-85 with this amount of patient detail?
As many have said, an excellent lesson. Thank you Michael. I can't work out how to see the shutter speed when in A mode (I have a G85). I realise it is not manually adjustable but it seems Michael is showing how it changes at around 29.40 If anyone can help , I would greatly appreciate. Thanks.
I love your videos. I am refamiliarizing myself with my G85 because I've been using my D500 for the past couple of years. Anyway, one thing I've noticed is the auto monitor/viewfinder does not work on monitor unless I pull the screen out even slightly. If it remains seated on the back of the camera, screen facing me, the monitor fails to turn on. Once on, it switches to viewfinder without issue.
I noticed that you can start and stop video with the shutter button. Is that by default ? I was wondering if I accidentally activated it to do that. Thank you for this tutorial. It was so difficult to find a detailed tutorial on the features of this great camera !
It's absolutely insane to me that Panasonic doesn't display active focal length but Olympus does. I stumbled on this video, hoping that maybe your in-depth guide had a solution. Nope, Panasonic in their infinite wisdom (but far better menu system and ergonomics than Olympus) decided to leave this critical feature out. Don't get me wrong, G95 shoots very well. And it's my first Panasonic body with IBIS (GX850 and G100 don't have it), but man - every system does have its quirks. I started on Olympus (E-PL5, E-M1 mk1, E-M10 mk1, E-M10 mk2), so losing my training wheels was 100% on Olympus - and I guess I took that feature for granted. Most of my shooting in the past 5 years has been with primes, so probably why I never noticed initially when I went Olympus >> Panasonic. But after getting a 40-150 f2.8 recently and noticing no focal length display on the G95, my first thought was check DPR/m43 forums. Seems I wasn't alone in being disappointed with Panasonic here, but their lengthy stubbornness on not adding it, seems like we'll never get it.
Hi Michael, tough this tutorial is 2 years ago I find it still helpfull. Just last week I bought the G90 and was in doubt to choose between the G9 or the G90. So I decided for the G90 and I have no regrets. It's a wonderful hybride camera with its 20.3 MP and the image quality is great. Before purching the G90 I already owend some digital cameras like the Samsung NX300 and on this camera there is one feature I really like. It has the abillity when in recording movie it starts in the opening with a ' fading ' mode, and when stopping recording it also stops in the fading mode ( it looks good in some vids on my channel). And I wonder if the Lumix G90 has this feature too. I already went through the whole menu but could not find it. Is the feature available anyway on the G90?
Hi. My g90 do it too. So when i record video in 25p or 50p the screen going to black for 1 or 2 sec. But, recording in 30p or 60p the g90 don't do it. I don't know why, or how can i disable this.
Video was great But dude, you gotta work on that cover for you lesson you tried to sell at the beginning, that looked pretty awful. Tough love, thanks again for the video!
Great video!! Very helpful! Absolutely hate how the camera refuses to show any difference in lighting until the photo is taken tho 😅 do u know if that can be changed?
The only comment I have is with all the stabilisation in the camera and lens, your suggestion of not going below 60th of a second is very conservative. I go down to 1/4 hand held no worries!
good stuff, getting to perfectly understand all the options of g85 cant take a year of intensive practice. i'm not yet tempted by g95, g85 is just fine in 2019 and it costs used 1/2 of g95 (i paid $400 for a used almost new g85 in april 2018) , extra 4Mpix are not that big deal for me, i can grap d7200 for 24Mpix. the only thing that would make me move-a really bigger viewfinder - i'm too used to full frame nikon viewfinders that are still beating crap out of mirrorless in low light, and i do a lot of low light (dansing parties)
At 46:07 you switch on Direct Focus Area, does this disable selecting Focusing Cluster (AF Mode) at 50:12. Do you then have to use Quick Menu to change AF Mode. Can see Direct Focus Area being very useful when using LVF.
How you access the focusing modes and some of the other functions don’t seem to be the same as my G85:( can you help me? I have this buttons on my menu wheel : one says ISO and the other looks like focus and one is WB and the other is Fn3. All do not seem to pull up those functions !! Help!!😅
Thank you a lot for this great and in-depth tutorial. One remark that confused me (and might help others): At 45:52 you tell us to turn the "Direct Focus Area" to "on". However, this means you can't access the cameras focus clusters as shown in 50:15, since pressing the control dial will just move the focus area. I then quickly had to set "Direct Focus Area" to "off" again. Is there another way to quickly access the focus clusters when the "direct focus area"-option is set to "on"?
Great video. On my G85 I can switch to manual focus, turn the focus ring completely to the left (infinity), shut off the camera, and when it comes back on the focus is perfectly set to infinity. Will the G95 do this ?
Great video but I was wondering is there any way to turn off the cameras mic? I got the G95 for recording RUclips videos and will have it connected to my computer with an Elgato camlink. I have an external mic that will sound better than the cameras mics will.
i just got my camera and am following along with your tutorial, but the first lesson about how to adjust the brightness and my camera settings are not the same and I can't follow along. What did I do wrong?
By far the most all encompassing G95 / G90 (G80/G85) video on youtube. Lots of other good ones but this one covers everything. Thanks Michael. I'm fairly experienced and have had a G85 for a year, but I still got a lot out of your clear concise tutorial. Well done.
I purchased the FujiFilm X-S10 thinking I would replace my G95 and after a couple weeks I've decided to keep the G95. Thanks again for such a nice tutorial!
thanks, just bought g90. nothing else like this on youtube, never would have found a lot of the functions without it

Best online introduction to the G95 on RUclips, thank you.
Thanks Michael. I've just bought a G95 and learnt so much from this tutorial. Awesome!
Can't stress enough how helpful this video was for me. Thank you Michael.
Finally understanding some stuff. Helped me on my GX85. ❤❤❤
You are an absolute boss at teaching! I love your tone of voice, you truly sound passionate and want your students to learn. I love it! New subscriber on board here!
Awesome dude, I just bought my first camera with no idea what to do and you have just helped me massively, thank you.
You are amazing for taking the time to truly teach these most important basics!!!
This really is phenomenal content - the substance shines through. Super helpful, thorough and neither talking down nor jargonising. Nice 👌🏽 x
Im in love with this camera already and its only been 2 days 😍
Thank you Michael. Your reply is appreciated.
Thank you for taking your time making this video. It is really helpful for us who are new to micro four thirds camera's
Thank you very much!

I really want to thank you for this video I’m currently enrolled in film school using this camera it is really helping me

The 4K video is stunning
I'm about one third of the video, but thank you very much for doing this very in-depth tutorial. It´s amazing.
Hi Michael. Did you ever make the G95 Crash Course mentioned in this tutorial?
Most of this works very well foe the G80/85 thanks for the upload REALLY appreciated
Thank you, Great video! Just purchased G95 and it helped me a lot.
Thank you for this. Just bought these for my podcast. This really helped me so much!

Thanks - great video. I've had my G95 for a few weeks and this was a great kick-start to improve my knowledge.
Thank you for your detailed informative tutorial. Made understanding of this camera a breeze...
BRAVO Michael, excellent video
Thanks for being thorough. Very helpful.
Awesome tutorial. Your pacing and layout is fantastic. Greatly appreciated.
Other than doing a demo of how the white balance, filters and iso work by using white blinds for half an hour, good info!
This is excellent… I’ve learnt heaps thankyou.

This is a great video, thanks Michael. Please provide the G95 training video, i am most interested in learning photography. Never done that before and got my first camera today
I got an S5 a few days ago and found this also covers loads of the same ground for that camera! Great tutorial :-)
Great video! Thanks. Just a couple of times you switched and made changes but didn't show us which buttons you pressed. These types of videos are great.
Thank you so much for this thorough tutorial!
Nice video, just moved from Canon 550D to Panasonic G85 and its like a spaceship control panel compared to Canon !
Thanks a million, i'm planning to buy this camera, this would help me lot.
This is incredibly helpful
Great in 2023!!
Using this camera last 5month best for vlog ....image quality is also impressive...
I appreciate you and this video very much
Thank you so much for taking time making such extensive tutorial.

Thank you 😃@@MMaven
I'll check that out
Did you ever do an in depth training for this camera? Or maybe not enough people were interested but I definitely am!
I have a g95 love it for video, I didnt need 60 fps so thats why i bought it hell I dont even shoot videos in 4k that much 1080p is more than good enough and its easier to work with
Thank you! This was sooooo helpful! 💪

Video was great
But dude, you gotta work on that cover for you lesson you tried to sell at the beginning, that looked pretty awful.
Tough love, thanks again for the video!
Just bought mine. Thanks !!
Great video, but kinda wish you didn't use a white wall, it's really hard to see the difference
Great job. Thanks a lot for this - really helpful
Great video!! Very helpful! Absolutely hate how the camera refuses to show any difference in lighting until the photo is taken tho 😅 do u know if that can be changed?
Thanks ton! It helped a lot.
The only comment I have is with all the stabilisation in the camera and lens, your suggestion of not going below 60th of a second is very conservative. I go down to 1/4 hand held no worries!

Do you know how to check the shutter count?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Good stuff, was looking at your other vids, pretty extensive camera tutorials you've got
thank you very much for everything but, this one in particularly 4:08
At 46:07 you switch on Direct Focus Area, does this disable selecting Focusing Cluster (AF Mode) at 50:12. Do you then have to use Quick Menu to change AF Mode. Can see Direct Focus Area being very useful when using LVF.
great video, thank you
Sir in Panasonic G95 can do both photography and videography
very good video, from switzerland greets!!
I have an external mic that will sound better than the cameras mics will.
this video is amazing thank you
Awesome, thank you so much for this!!
i just got my camera and am following along with your tutorial, but the first lesson about how to adjust the brightness and my camera settings are not the same and I can't follow along. What did I do wrong?
